Some tsa agents are under quarantine. Reporter correct. The tsa put out a statement but doesnt answer many important questions. It tells us there were three tsa agents who worked here who tested positive for covid19 and are now receiving medical care. All the employees, an unknown number, they came in contact with in the past 14 days are selfquarantining at home. The answers not released in the statement which terminal security checkpoint were they working at, terminal a or b or both of them, were they working behindthescenes or interact with and screen passengers . If so, how many passengers did they come in contact with . How long were they contagious before they were aware of the virus . The head of the tsa tweeted out, we are working with local Health Officials to take containment steps for employees and passengers. They have not put any details out about what, if anything, theyre doing for passengers. According to the Statement Released yesterday they did say the tsa said the screen checkpoints remain open and the agency is working with the cdc and the Santa Clara County Public Health department. Theyre pretty anxious waiting on that grand princess cruise ship. Its been docked here at the port of oakland since monday. It isnt over once they disembark from the ship. Theyll be quarantined for a couple weeks. One of the places where some of the passengers will be quarantined this is video from a passenger who arrived last night, people Wearing Masks and checking folks in. This is a new reality for them at least for the next couple of weeks. Here is where things stand from the grand princess cruise ship. More than 1,400 people have been taken off the ship. That took place on monday. U. S. Passengers will be quarantined for 14 days. We showed you a glimpse of one of them. Will be sent to other bases in california and georgia as well as texas. They will be flown to their home countries for medical treatment. More than 20 people on the ship tested positive for the virus that was carrying roughly 3,500 passengers at the time. 19 of those cases were crew members. Theyre going to remain quarantined and treated onboard and will dock elsewhere. A very frustrating and anxious time for passengers. Here is what one passenger had to say who is still on the ship. Because theres movement, youre anticipating getting your name called kind of thing. Reporter California Governor Gavin Newsom says theyre also being quarantined in other sites that are safe and secure, folks who dont need to go to a hospital. But when you measure the markets against the past year youre coming out okay. If you have stock in apple, for instance, down 17 off the highs. Thats a lot. But stock is up 50 compared to a year ago. Two weeks ago today President Trump introduced his Corona Task Force with Vice President pence at the helm. Today the president will meet with wall street executives as he continues to push for a payroll tax cut. Now payroll taxes are the funds that are taken out of your check to pay for your social security, medicaid, a bit over 6 for social security, medicare. President trump would like to give you that money back and borrow to make up for it. Weve done it before though it was a refund not an Immediate Tax cut. Weve talked about this before, its not clear you can spend your way out of a pandemic. In a recession you want people to go out, go shopping, travel, spend money. They dont do that in a pandemic no matter how much money they have. Also the irs will push the tax deadline back past april 15th to give people more time to file. If there were a payroll tax cut it would not come out of the taxes youre filing this year. That is for the last fiscal year. One Union Representing stage workers is already telling workers they may need to rely on unemployment benefits. A lot of workers dont want to, its a prideful thing. We will encourage them to do that as the work continues to get canceled. Workers are hoping business ramps back up sooner rather than later, perhaps when the warmer summer weather starts to arrive.
