So, i go to floor decor, where they dont just know the difference between products, they live for it. From american hardwood to spanish porcelain to italian marble, im looking for inspiration from every part of the world. So, when it comes to discovering every imaginable tile, wood, laminate or stone without compromising my design, one aisle doesnt cut it. I need an entire store. Now, ive got one. Explore floor decor in person or online at flooranddecor. Com welcome back. Its 7 12. It is time for our weekly chat with chuck todd, moderator of meet the press. Hi, chuck. As always, thank you for joining us this morning. No larry today, im sorry to tell you. He is enjoying some time off. Chuck, President Trump, of course, declared a National Emergency for the coronavirus. After an entire week where we saw schools, we saw concerts, large gatherings, sports leagues all shut down how do you think this administration and state governments individually have been handling this pandemic . Well, look, i think state governments have taken the lead and you can see that in our new polling thats out where more people give their state governments higher marks than local or federal. What feels like mixed messaging youll hear from people like dr. Fauci that seem to be pointing in one direction. The president can sound as if hes pointing in another direction. There has been a sense lets just take the testing issue. For three straight weeks weve been told the tests are going to ramp up. No rampup, no rampup. One more time, no, this time we mean it. The private sector is there. I think thats contributed to a little bit of skepticism on what the feds have done so far. I do think everybody is trying to get back on the same page, if you will. And you introd this having to do with all the closings, while dr. Fauci didnt say hes ready to recommend a full closing of all bars and restaurants everywhere, he seemed to hint thats a pretty good idea if you have Community Spread that thats what you have to do. The point is this, and he did say this, people should expect more shutdowns. People should expect even fewer places open than already are. This is not the worst yet. The worst is yet to come. Oh, boy. And, chuck, we have seen three states make changes to their upcoming president ial primaries due to covid 19. How do you think this virus is going to continue to affect the campaign . I think it does to the campaign what its done to the nba season. Its in suspended animation. Ask me again in 30 days. Thats where we are now. Ive talked to some democrats who are relieved it isnt a close race right now, that it looks like joe biden is almost on the verge of being the presumptive nominee. Talk about a nightmare scenario for the democrats had they been in the delegates log where it was unclear who had the lead. I do think that is going to make it almost easier for some officials to delay primaries. Theyll feel less pressure. Ill tell you this, i dont know how Bernie Sanders can effectively go after joe biden tonight in a debate without risking alienating people that are watching because the focus, i think, of everybodys attention among democrats is the coronavirus and trying to draw contrast on the iraq war vote tonight at this debate might come across as tone deaf. I do think Bernie Sanders is in a rough position here in trying to campaign normally and try to make a comeback. It will be interesting to see how they kind of stick together in this time although theyre trying to beat one another. Chuck todd, i wish we had more time. As always, thank you so much. We look forward to seeing you a week from now. But we hope you join chuck for meet the press that will focus, of course, on coronavirus. He will talk to dr. Anthony fauci and Ohio Governor mike dewine and exclusive intervwswi Massachusetts General Hospital and the president of ucla health. Lots of good information coming up. Its sort of an ironically good time to stay inside for social distancing because we have all this rain. And the travel conditions in the sierra, the roadways have been shut down so theyre recommending folks stay home as opposed to heading up to the high country. We have the clouds, still more showers outside. And, yes, San Francisco will be looking at rain at times, and were hopeful to get a few sunny breaks later on. 48 degrees to start the morning off. Mostly cloudy conditions and rain off to the west and theres a view of the shark tank with the wet roads around san jose also starting off in the upper 40s. And the temperatures will not move a whole lot today. Looking at highs in the low 50s for most of the bay area which, of course, means snow levels by march standards will be quite low. Low enough to be near the top of mt. Diablo and mt. Hamilton at times during the day today. Right now still pretty active as you look to the south, our weather watcher, alvin letting us know weve had more than an inch and three quarters of rain thats come down. Its still coming down around morgan hill. Scattered showers around the trivalley and there is mt. Diablo. Looking at sleet or wet snow near the summit. Showers around San Francisco and more rain into the north bay. So the key here its not nonstop rain but bands of showers moving through and you can see these little spotty clouds, popcorn like clouds offshore. Cool air aloft which will set the stage possibly for some isolated thunder, right around midday. That would be the best chance of that. Could see small hail. Notice the time stamp as we head to the evening. Things should begin to calm down. Well lose the firepower once the sun sets. The air will be cold enough, the higher peaks, the santa cruz mountains, the diablo range, north bay hill tops above 3,000 feet, could see snow at times heading into monday. So rain totals for sunday are going to be less than we saw yesterday. The highest totals will likely be around the santa cruz mountains, locally closer to a half inch of rain along highway 17. Overall a quarter inch to a third of an inch around the bay area. Look at the chance of snow here on the higher peaks of the north bay, also around mt. Diablo and mt. Hamilton and we might see a little bit of snow at times heading into monday. Midweek a bit of a break that area of low pressure moves through southern california. Notice the sevenday forecast at the bottom of the screen as we approach friday and next weekend look what happens here. Another area of low pressure drops down the coast which could put us in a very similar pattern to with a were seeing now. After february we didnt have any rain. Were starting to catch up now. The sierra for weekend snow totals this weekend three to four feet of snow, and we might see more as we head towards next weekend. San francisco a bit of an unsettled day. About everything the weather could throw at you, clouds, brief hail, and some snow around the peaks in the bay area. More rain as we approach next weekend.
