The city closed 74 miles of streets to traffic so pedestrians and bicyclists have more room to social distance. Its called the slow streets program. Oakland identified another 11 miles it would like to close. The city is asking for Community Input on this phase two. Along the peninsula a city there considering the street closure plan. Palo Alto City Council wants to reduce traffic and speeding on city streets. Their plan would resemble oaklands slow street measure and would not give out citations to drivers. It would help encourage people to make more space for social distancing and exercising. Tens of thousands of people have already taken advantage of a special Enrollment Program for the covered california program.
