Big changes coming in the next couple of days . Reporter yeah. You can see right now live there are quite a few people at the beach at the moment, but significantly fewer than we saw last weekend. Those changes you mentioned are all part of the newly announced amendments to the shelter at home orders in bay area counties. Now, many residents of pacifica actually tell me theyve been staying away from the beaches on weekends, in part because of so many people here. Today there seemed to be more locals. A special detail of the Pacifica Police department has been going to each group of people and telling them the rules. So far, people who do not live within five miles according to the rules have been leaving with no issues after talking with police. No citations have been handed out. But this weekend officers are giving people a headsup that lounging will no longer be allowed at the beach. For some residents of the area, coming here is a relief, but its still far from normal. Its strange. Its just weird. Im feeling now on the beach we are respecting the six feet distance, so its feeling weird. Reporter now these signing warning visitors about the fivemile radius rule will soon be changing to 10 miles because along with new restrictions on bringing lounge chairs and even beach blankets, now more people will actually be allowed to visit. They simply wont be allowed to come and lounge. Theyll be able to come and exercise along the beach. They just wont be able to bring anything to stay here and watch. Were told parents will be allowed to stay at the beach and watch their kids if theyre playing in the ocean, but everyone else has to be in motion. From 11 00 in the morning to 5 00 in the evening beaches are off limits except to access the water for surfing. Outside those hours people can walk or jog on the beach but they have to keep up social distancing and youve got to keep moving. Theres no lounging or congregating. One neighbor is relieved. I think its good for the beaches to be closed. I think its been too crowded. People who dont comply face a warning or even a ticket. Two more Northern California counties are preparing to defy the governors stayathome orders. Yuba and sutter counties will reopen some nonessential businesses on monday. You see them there in red. This is going to allow for places like malls, gyms, and salons to open their doors again. Similarly in yellow here, modoc county defied the governors orders yesterday. Both essential and nonessential businesses opened again there. However, social distancing protocols are still in place. No large gatherings are allowed. Modoc one of four counties without a confirmed case of coronavirus. They are essential workers that are sometimes forgotten but a vital part of our everyday life. Talking about farm workers here. Today a caravan of almost 100 vehicles drove from san jose to salinas with supplies and gratitude for farm workers tending crops in the fields, harvesting, packing, making sure Grocery Stores are stocks. Millions of selfemployed or gig worker californians are now eligible for special unemployment benefits, but many are finding themselves shut out. The Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Program comes with a major catch. Selfemployed workers who were on an employers payroll and earned 1,300 or more during any quarter in the last 18 months are disqualified. Instead theyre going to have to file for regular unemployment, which goes off the w2 amount for benefits. They hope today served as a little morale boost. I know that those kids, if theyre in the car today, which i had asked for, theyre going to see us, and theyre going to see their star camp teach leaders that were here during our overnight camp we did. Theyre going to know were still here and thinking about them and their parents and families are going to know were here to support them through this tough time. As the winds pick up and other than the drizzle were seeing closer to the coast and San Francisco, the pollen county is active without any significant rain to rinse that out of the sky. As the low cloud cover is forced to rise over the hilltops, thats enough to wring out a little bit of light rain at times. Satellite view pretty impressive. That storm that brought light to moderate rain is weakening on approach as it drops down to the bay area. As those clouds are forced to climb the hills of the north bay, thats just enough lift to wring out a little bit of mist at times. Some of it there along the north bay, the peninsula and the coast and maybe something around the east side east of san jose and fremont to late evening to just before midnight tonight. As we approach 11 00, weve got that band of clouds pushing through the central bay, but watch how quickly it just dissipates and starts to move away towards tomorrow morning. So rapidly clearing conditions for sunday. It will still be breezy outside. So when the sevenday forecast starts to warm things up, really not talking about tomorrow. 40s and low 50s to start through the day. As we head through the afternoon, numbers generally similar to what we had today. Cool, low 60s to upper 60s from San Francisco to oakland. When temperatures really start to take off, this is going to be towards the middle part of that week. Notice how that high builds back across california. Its like hitting the fast forward button right into summerlike temperatures. The valleys, 80s and probably some low 90s by friday or even to the start of next weekend. Then around this time next weekend, well begin to see perhaps some signs of change as the system approaches the coast. It looks pretty impressive in the futurecast but remains to be seen if perhaps if you want to pencil it on your calendars around may 11th. Maybe a chance of seeing a few showers. But in the meantime, sevenday forecast is more going to be about sunny skies and more summerlike temperatures. Even San Francisco some mid 70s will be in reach second half of the week. Good time to check to make sure hopefully your airconditioning is working as the sea breeze kind of shuts down second half of next week.
