Rain accumulates and develops on sunday into monday. Well have colder 60s. Winds 15 to 30 Miles Per Hour and even a sierra winter storm watch. Reporter a new health order tonight is giving High School Seniors in Contra Costa County options when it comes to graduation ceremonies. Thats coming up in about seven minutes. 30 new details tonight about the Fatal Shooting of a murder suspect in the east bay by a sheriffs deputy. It all started late last night at a hotel on foothill boulevard in san leandro. Police say a murder suspect barricaded himself in a room. Alameda county deputies showed up to hip aelp and say when the suspect did come out of his hotel room finally, he shot at them. So police and deputies returned fire and killed him. No one else was hurt. A rare murder charge against a man who crashed his car in san jose, killing four of his passengers. Chp investigators say he was driving drunk when he lost control and rolled the suv several times. Because he has a prior conviction for dui, prosecutors have charged him with murder rather than manslaughter, saying he knew driving drunk could be deadly. Well, he was released from jail on no bail because of the pandemic, but it didnt take long for a napa county man to end up right where he began. In fact, police rearrested him just 13 minutes after he got out. Police say 35yearold Trevor Anderson was released for car theft, burglary, identity theft, and drugrelated charges. But minutes after he got out, he stole a pickup truck and led police on a chase from napa to fairfield, where they rearrested him. Theres currently an emergency bail scheduled because of the pandemic. That sets bail at zero for some crimes. Well, how will the coronavirus change how we work . Reporter the Bay Area Council surveyed 123 ceos and executives at Companies Big and small. Their responses offer an interesting perspective on the future of work in the Silicon Valley and beyond. Across the bay area, lots of buildings are pretty empty these days. Many companies shifted to work from home quite effectively. And even after stayathome orders are lifted, 18 of the leaders surveyed say they plan on keeping their employees out of an office. Not only that, we had almost 90 saying that theyre going to institute some type of partial work from home. So that could be a couple of days a week or some other models. Reporter whats more, 77 say theyll offer more flexible shifts to avoid having workers together all at once and allow more space in work areas. There are a few benefits. The most obvious will be fewer commuters on Public Transit and freeways, but there could be Lasting Negative Effects too. They work at home. They dont come here to support us. We cant make money. Its going to be bad. Reporter businesses like umi chinese food have been struggling since the coronavirus shutdown. Theyre no longer catering business lunches and foot traffic is gone. The companies theyve been relying on dont think their fortunes will change quickly either. When asked, what is your best guess as to when revenue will return to precovid19 levels, about 11 believe theyll bounce back in a more or less. 18 say it will take six months. A vacation in hawaii may sound wonderful after months of sheltering at home, but hawaiis governor says you are not invited, at least not yet. Hawaiis governor says the islands will continue their mandatory quarantines for all visitors through at least the end of june. The policy calls for travelers to selfquarantine in their hotel or home for 14 days. That means the beaches are off limits. Violators face a 5,000 fine and even possible jail time. And South Lake Tahoe is also trying to keep tourists away, especially during the upcoming memorial day weekend. Tahoe is planning to issue 1,000 fines to anyone staying there who isnt a homeowner. Hotels are still closed, and if you find an airbnb willing to rent to you, that owner could be fined 1,000 as well. Here at home, there are new restrictions around lake merritt in oakland to prevent overcrowding. New no parking signs are posted around the lake. Theyll be there this weekend and next weekend, the memorial day weekend. People can still visit the lake, run around, exercise, but they dont want people congregating like weve seen on recent weekends. I agree there isnt enough social distancing. I try to get a quick workout in and then i go back home and finish. But sometimes during the weekends, theyre gathering in crowds, so i can understand the need to do that. It is an inconvenience, but this is a serious time. Food trucks and other vendors are also no longer allowed at city parks. Now to something good. Two san jose teenagers held a virtual piano recital to help a south bay charity thats taken a financial hit during this pandemic. Wow. What an incredible duet. The 14yearolds are freshmen and evergreen valley high. Theyre also awardwinning pianists. They held a 25minute virtual concert and asked for donations through venmo for the bill wilson center. You know, some of that music would go good with a little bit of rainfall as we move into sunday. We are tracking a storm system on the way. So while i show you the forecast tonight, i also want you to focus on the bottom of the screen as well where well have our scrolling sevenday forecast so you can get your temperatures as we head through tomorrow and also those sky conditions. So lets turn the focus now into that storm system and, again, its going to drop down from the north. Theres a little bit of an Atmospheric River tap. Its very weak. Its only going to stick with us from 1 00 a. M. Sunday to 4 00 p. M. Sunday. This boost of prop ctropical mo coming from that Atmospheric River. Were getting some unusual activity here in may as that storm track is taking a big dip right down here into northern california. So as we move through tomorrow morning, we do have some sunshine to start for the south bay, also the east bay. But notice the clouds for the north bay and right along our coastline. As we head through the afternoon, well begin to see some of that cloud cover starting to increase out ahead of our storm system. Lets move into that storm system. 6 00 a. M. On sunday, showers begin to develop. By 1 00, well start to see some of that moving down to the south bay on sunday. Were going to see a little bit of a break. Theres some new updates coming in that continues to show that will not be consistent, widespread rainfall from sunday into monday. So by sunday evening, a little bit of a break. Then well see another round of wet weather as we head into monday morning. Rainfall totals on this, everyone looks good for a quarter of an inch but notice these areas in yellow over the east bay higher elevations. The north bay, parts of the Santa Cruz Mountains as well. Thats where we could be in that half to close to threequarters of an inch for isolated locations. Not only wet here but snow for the sierra sunday into tuesday. 3 to 13 inches with a winter storm watch in effect. Youve got to go to those highest levels to get that snow. Kingvale would see seven inches. Twin bridges, 13. My extended forecast shows in San Francisco, 60s next seven days. We dry it out next tuesday, wednesday, thursday, and friday. And right here for the inland valleys, were going to go down to 69 on sunday, but then well raise it back up next tuesday, wednesday, thursday, and friday as we dry out as 70s return.
