There are plenty of parents, students, and teachers that are breathing a sigh of relief. But there are some people who had been pushing for students to return to class five days a week. The hourslong San Ramon Valley Unified School District Board Meeting was basically a continuation of a similar meeting earlier in the week. During that meeting, Board Members seemed poised to pass a plan to have some students return to class and others stay at home. Tonight Board Members acknowledged new info from the Contra Costa County department of health and an announcement from governor gavin newsom has prompted them to change course. All in favor of the motion, say aye. Aye. Opposed say no. Motion carries unanimously. They decided to start with Distance Learning. Attendance will be taken, and grades will be given. I feel so relieved. Trust me when i say that all Teachers Want to be back in their classrooms. I desperately miss my students but we also want to be safe. Rachel decker says returning to Distance Learning is not ideal, but teachers have learned lo lots of lessons over the spring that will help this school year go smoother. Some parents had been pushing for the option to send their kids to school five days a week. We cant live our life in fear. Im not going to let fear dictate my choices for myself and my family. The maximum penalty would be three years in custody. The encounter with osuna came one day after this couple vandalized the cityapproved street art. That couple is now charged with vandalism and committing a hate crime. We also have an issue in palo alto. Police officers want a mural changed. That mural includes an image of asada shakur, she was a member of the black Power Movement and convicted of killing a new jersey state trooper. Shakur escaped from prison in 1979 and is believed to be hiding out in cuba ever since. Now a bay area artist included shakur as part of this citysanctioned mural. A National Police group says having shakur as part of that mural is an insult to Police Officers everywhere, and they want palo alto to scrub shakur off. Police officers have to walk by that every day and see the face of a convicted cop killer. Thats a hostile work environment. You have to defend asada, a righteous woman, a woman who fought for her people. Palo alto mayor adrian fine says he got hundreds of calls about the mural. He took the artists advice and read up on asada shakur, and for now the mural will stay as is.
