Bob Woodwards new book on the president. In those february interviews with bob woodward,
President Trump admitted that the virus was deadly and more dangerous than the flu. But thats not the tone that he kept publicly as he largely downplayed the coronavirus and its dangers. Here is part of that interview. You just breathe the air, thats how its, uh, passed. And so thats a very tricky one. Thats a very delicate one. Nbc bay area responds to a san jose medical school student. He asked consumer investigator chris chmura to help correct a hospital billing program. Reporter when stephen lamm becomes a doctor, hell have firsthand sympathy for any patient whose bill goes haywire. He had to go to the e. R. When he was discharged, the hospital billed him 550 for a deposit and told him they would reimburse him when his
Health Insurance paid. But after six months of back and forth with the hospital, steven still hadnt gotten his deposit back. He told us, i aspire to become a compassionate and caring hospitalist physician and im very disappointed in how the
Health Care System is treating me as a consumer. We asked the hospital to take a look. It did, and a few days later steven got a check for 550. If youre asked to pay a deposit for a medical procedure, we recommend using a credit card. Make sure you get a printed receipt that states you are due a refund after your insurance pays. Keep it, and keep tabs. Then if the hospital doesnt keep its word, you can dispute the charge with your credit card company. That step will probably get the attention of the
Hospital Finance Department and hopefully trigger a refund. Okay, thank you, chris. A fun little riddle, what does the u. S. Army and burning man have in common . They both want a piece of b. A. Winchester Mystery House in san jose is reopening this weekend, on saturday. For a while, the estates gardens have hosted visitors on selfguided walking tours. But now the mansion itself is reopening its doors. All 2,000 doors. Theres 2,000 doors in the
Winchester Mystery House . Thats amazing. Its going to be a different experience. Sarah winchester herself might have considered the changes mysterious, with hand sanitizing stations everywhere and everyone wearing masks. Well, she was paranoid, so this fits into the whole thing. It sure does. This is a live look at downtown san jose. Lets show you some photos from viewers and our coworkers. Dave benzer took this eye opening photo from the park where the giants are getting ready to play against the mariner. This one doesnt even look real, it looks like a filter. One of our photo journalists, michael horn, took this at the beach at capitola, it looks like nighttime but its 3 00 in the afternoon. If you have a picture, email it to isee nbcbayarea. Com. What have you got, jeff . You feel like youre in a scifi movie when you step out. On top of that, where temperatures got up to 111 degrees this past weekend, we now have some colder air filtering in along with the smoke, which is limiting the heating from the sun. So temperatures, if youve stepped outside over the past 30 to 40 minutes, are beginning to drop. You need a jacket if youre going anywhere from this point on to the rest of tonight. Look at this current view. We couldnt get this cold if we tried last week. 68 in livermore. 64 san jose. 57 in
San Francisco. 59 in mill valley. Now lets get you back to the smoke and the fires. Weve seen all of this move in from four different major fires burning to the north and the south of us. Now, winds dont look that gusty tomorrow. Firefighters will also have some cooler temperatures from the 60s to the 80s. But the airdropibility of that water could be an issue with the visibility really low across the bay area. Tomorrow we think some of the most harmful smoke particles will stay suspended above the surface. A lot of this smoke is trapped in the upper levels. This would leave us with moderate and lower levels of unhealthy air quality. It is just this weird oddity, it just doesnt match up, when you see how thick the smoke is. But you dont actually smell it as apparent. Tomorrow mornings forecast will start off with cool 60s. We get the fog and the haze with us through the south bay peninsula and the tri valley. Then well see some cooler 50s for the east bay,
San Francisco, and the north bay, the chilliest in sf at 56. Through the day well keep that smoke with us. Temperatures will range from 83 in napa to 74 in oakland, down to palo alto, 79. San jose, 80. Morgan hill, 86. I know the big question we all want answered, what about the smoke . Its an hour by hour, day by day situation. Im always looking ahead at what could stir up the atmosphere and get us a change. And right now, there are two different systems. One on sunday passes to the north. If we see some higher fire containment this could help to stir up the air a lot more with the northwesterly breeze. And then well have a
Second Chance to get the atmosphere stirred up, at least near the surface, by next tuesday and wednesday, with a chance of some
Northern California showers. Now, for us, theres not a big possibility. But north of us, near eureka, our forecast models are beginning to pick up on merit a quarter to half inch near eureka. The california oregon border right at the coastline. Any kind of added moisture we can get in here would be a big, big help, obviously. San franciscos forecast, the next seven days, stays in the 60s with us with that fog mixing in with some of that smoke. For the inland valleys, in the 80s through the next couple of days. Okay. Its lucy wednesday, we are in serious views but i wanted to give you a view of what lucy is doing, i think its very relatable. She is taking a nap. Oh, she heard you, jess. Shes taking a nap now.
