So happy that youre joining us on this thursday morning. 1st of october, good morning. I love when the calendar changes. It is a busy morning. We also have good news. Love to say that at the beginning of a newscast. From washington, d. C. , today marks the reopening of the Washington Monument. Tom costello, ill tell you, has the best seat in the house. Well join us right up inside there, 500 feet up. The sunrise, like, this is all happening. Thats a pretty shot. Well get to that in a moment. Lets start with politics. 33 days now until election day. Early voting is already taking place in 30 states. If you live in washington, d. C. , absentee ballots are starting to be mailed out today. Also this morning, the president ial Debate Commission is weighing in on what happened in cleveland tuesday night, and promising changes to the debates moving forward. Nbcs Peter Alexander joins us from the white house with more on this. Peter, good morning. Reporter hoda and savannah, good morning to both of you. The senates top republican, mitch mcconnell, called it unacceptable not to condemn White Supremacists. Lindsey graham said the president should make it clear, the Proud Boys Organization is a racist one. But President Trump remains reluctant to unequivocally condemn White Supremacists and other far right groups by name, after igniting the controversy in tuesdays debate. Now, some of the president s allies tell nbc news they are worried his chaotic performance this week may have repelled undecided voters, not won them over. Overnight, President Trump in minnesota, awarding himself high marks for his combative and chaotic debate performance. We, all of us, won big last night. And i dont know, did you hear about this . In the history of cable television, had the highest ratings of any show in the history of cable television. Reporter the president earlier trying to clean up after refusing to condemn White Supremacists. Im willing to do anything. I want to then do it, sir. Say it. You want to them call what do you want to call them . Give me a name. White supremacists. Who do you want me to condemn . White supremacists. Proud boys, stand back and stand by. Reporter the proud boys, an extremist group, celebrating the president s remarks. President trump is now distancing himself from the group. I dont know who the proud boys are. You have to give me a definition because i dont know who they are. I can say, they have to stand down, let Law Enforcement do their work. Reporter joe biden not mincing words. My message to the proud boys i am talking about Law Enforcement, police have to take care, stop defunding the police like theyve done in new york. I just told you. I always denounce any form, any form of any of that. You u have to denounce it. Joe biden not mincing words. My message to proud boys and every other White Supremacist Group is, cease and desist. Thats not who we are. This is not who we are as americans. Reporter slamming the president s behavior as a national embarrassment. He thinks if he speaks louder and spus out lie after lie, he will get his way. Some undecided voters were turned off by the debate. I felt embarrassed as an american. All President Trump needed to do is not interrupt. All biden needed to do was not copy that type of behavior. Reporter the president ial pushback was swift and bipartisan. Reporter the Commission Says theyll make changes for the remaining matchups, saying additional structure should be added to ensure a more orderly discussion of the issues. Those are their words. A source close to the committee saying among the changes considered, cutting off a candidates microphone if they violate rules. Important to note, no final decision has been made. As for ratings, 73 million watched it on tv, second highest viewership ever for a president ial debate. Number down from four years ago. Thank you. To get another major blow to the Airline Industry. Tens of thousands of workers, massive job cuts. Nbcs blayne alexander joins us from the worlds busiest airport, atlantas hartsfieldjackson. Good morning. Reporter savannah, good morning to you. The midnight deadline came and went without a vote. That vote has been pushed to today to allow more time for talks between democrats and the white house. But the delay means that some airlines were forced to move forward with cuts, and this morning, thousands of people are waking up without a job. This morning, the future of the Airline Industry is up in the air. Starting today, thousands of employees from multiple airlines are being furloughed after congress failed to reach a deal on a new relief package before the october 1st deadline. On the line, pilots, flight attendants, gate agents, and more. Industry giants hit hard. American airlines forced to cut 19,000 jobs. United, 13,000. Telling employees in a letter, today is a very sad day for all of us at united. Wilmer alvarez got notice. That is not the flight attendants fault. Reporter now, hes scared of losing health insurance, not just for himself but his mother and two younger brothers, all relying on him. Four years ago, i thought this was going to be a lifetime career for me. Me being told last summer that i will be furloughed on october 1st was really heartbreaking. Reporter airlines already received a 25 billion lifeline from congress back in may, money used to save jobs. But the airlines say that money ran out at the end of september. With air travel still down 70 , carriers are looking to congress for a second round of help. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and treasury secretary Steve Mnuchin locked in talks over a sweeping reform package. Were very clear that we want to spend money on more ppp. We want to make sure that hotels, that the airlines get business. Reporter both delta and southwest say theyve been able to hold off on layoffs for now. The Airlines Impacted say they are aiming to reverse course once they get aid. But Industry Experts warn, its got to come fast. As service is cut to small airports, and the airports close, and all the jobs around them are also affected, communities are cut off from service, this is a real cliff. It is a real deadline. Those job losses are devastating, blayne. How, also, could the layoffs impact ticket prices and traveling in general . Reporter hoda, it could have a couple of impacts. If youre planning on traveling, that could mean the price you pay for tickets will be lower. Right now, airlines are keeping the ticket prices low, hoping that will be enough to bring travelers back. So thats certainly some good news into the Holiday Travel season. The bad news is that Industry Experts say that it could mean fewer planes in the air, which could mean more flights are more crowded. Some areas possibly looking at cutbacks in service all togeth er. Hoda . Tough story there. Thank you. Also this morning, some big news from the cruise industry. Cdc has extended a no sail order for ships from u. S. Ports through the end of october. Look east down the National Mall to the capitol and beyond. This has to be the best view in washington. There isnt even a second place on the best view of the city because, i mean, not only are you 500 feet up, youre 500 feet up looking at the landmarks of american history. Reporter the top of the obelisk was finished in 1885 this is all the original stone work it began to crack during the earthquake, so now to reinforce it, theyve come in with brackets and bolts the monument itself standing strong for more than a century in a time when everything is so polarized and it feels so unsure, its nice to have something that is timeless and that feels steady and sturdy people have been coming up here and looking out and getting this view since 1888 now, the features have changed, certainly. Wow, theres so much historym okay, you talked about the earthquake how many cracks are in that we learned in there, tom okay you talked about the earthquake. How many cracks are in that were in the monument because of it reporter yeah, they had to work on a thousand cracks, and most of them were right here where we are, near the tip, near the peak of the monument but to get to these cracks, they dont have an outside structure or crane, so they had to repel, take these windows out and repel down the side. Imagine doing that for a living. Oh, by the way, thats the jefferson monument right over there. Yeah, it was an unbelievable accomplishment guys, one last thing i should have mentioned, if you come here, you have to wear a mask, right . Otherwise you dont get in back do you. Of course tom, thanks. Youre awesome. Who pulled the 500 feet of cable up there to the top of the monument well done. Kudos to the crew. Thank you. Yes reporter technology. We love the technology these days, yeah. You know what i think hes so right, too, what tom said once you get up there, perspective. Boy do we need that right now. Tom, thank you from one spectacular sight to another al in his signature orange glasses this morning. Thank you very much we are, unfortunately, looking at a lot of rain down through florida. Flood watches, flood warnings. This is going to go through the weekend. We have a stationary front, low level, and upper level moisture, all converging on central and southern florida it is going to continue tomorrow flash flooding likely, moving from friday to saturday. Flooding from miami to key west. Were talking some areas picking up to 6 to 7 inches of rain. 2 to 4 inches of rain falling per hour in fact, were watching the tropics. This just in it from the National Hurricane center. Over the next two days, we have a 40 chance of development. 70 over the next five days. This is the Development Zone we expect it could be moving into the gulf of mexico. If it becomes a tropical system, it will be gamma were now in the greek letters of the alphabet. Flooding likely today. Record highs and fire risk continue out west. Very cool up through the northern p good morning. Im meteorologist kari hall. Were seeing very unhealthy air quality right now and we could barely see the sun at this point. Were also going to have a high fire danger for today with a red flag warning in effect, as well as a heat advisory and were also under a spare the air alert and being asked to conserve energy today and its going to be really hot. We see our temperatures reaching into the 90s for the south bay and up to 100 degrees in concord and 102 today in antioch. And thats your latest weather. Savannah al, thank you. My message to the proud boys and every other White Supremacist Group is cease and desist its not who we are. This is not who we are as americans. Debate Moderator Chris Wallace says he was sad about the way the event went off the tracks because it could have been a much more useful evening for americans. Also this morning, many parts of the world, including the u. S. , are seeing an increase in coronavirus cases, but that is not the case in sweden, which took a different approach to the pandemic from the start. Unlike most countries, sweden never entered lockdown so is there a lesson there for the rest of the world . Nbcs chief global correspondent bill neely joins us from stockholm. Bill, good morning reporter good morning, hoda. Good morning, everyone right across europe, there is this morning clear evidence of a second deadly wave of coronavirus, but here in sweden, nothing yet. Once again, sweden, which refused to lock down, is a global exception and for americans living here, and for swedes themselves, thats good news it looks like the world we lost. Cafes and restaurants full, people relaxed, no face masks, no panic american Elizabeth Dacey feels safe here. I have to say, honestly, im glad im here, in comparison to what im watching my family go through in the u. S reporter jim from new york runs a deli and likes swedens light touch. I would say theyre pretty much handsoff here in sweden, opposed to handson. Reporter you feel safer here than you would back home definitely, definitely. Im kind of proud about the way weve handled it. Reporter sweden kept most of its schools and businesses open. It asked people to socially distance half of swedes live alone anyway it banned large gatherings but imposed few other rules. For sweden, buses and trains, well, take a look at this. Not a face mask in sight the government doesnt recommend them, and swedes follow expert advice i would say in sweden, we have had the government and the experts have been really unified in their message you havent had that in the u. S. Reporter when the world locked down, sweden stayed open. Now, some of the countries who had the toughest lockdowns, like spain, are having a deadly second wave. Sweden is not. Or at least not yet. In swedens biggest hospital, the intensive care unit, overwhelmed in the spring, is deserted from today, Nursing Homes will allow visitors for the first time in months but not everyone is happy in a country with few restrictions or masks. They dont take any cares they dont bother. Reporter it worries you . Yes, it worries me, and it makes me angry reporter there have been small protests, even some americans are weary. Everybody feels fairly secure, but they might be getting a little overconfident right now. Reporter cases of covid are creeping up. Swedens high spring death toll, higher than its neighbors, could return but most swedes are confident their way works. A pariah state to some, a paragon to others, and an outlier for sure and todays move, opening up those Nursing Homes to visitors, is a big risk because more than half of all swedens covid19 deaths were from Nursing Homes indeed, swedens death rate, as a result of that, is pretty much the same as the United States. So it is just not simple as for face masks, people told me, look, if the government says wear a face mask, well wear them that may come. There are signs, guys, that even here, they may make face masks in some circumstances compulsory bill neely for us in stockholm. Bill, thank you. This morning, ford is recalling more than 700,000 trucks and other vehicles in north america. A. A grandfather in montgomery, alabama, found a bucket of old baseballs in his garage that had been around for decades. So he took them down to the local batting cages, hoping somebody could get some good use out of them. He also left a note about the baseballs. Heres what it said. I pitched them to my son and grandson for countless rounds. My son is now 46 my grandson, 23. I am 72. What i wont give to pitch a couple of buckets to them. Well, they both moved away if you are a father, cherish these times. You wont believe how quickly theyll be gone. P. S. , give them a hug and tell them you love them every chance you get. His grandson found out about the note, posted it online, where it is making grown men and women across the country cry he says he never realized how much his grandfather enjoyed their little outings they plan to get together this weekend to hit some baseballs, just one more time that is so dear i know. Were back at 8 12 with the were back at 8 12 with the heartbreaking news that Chrissy Teigen and john legend are sharing with their fans this morning. A lot of people woke up this morning and saw that sheinelle joins us with the story. It is heartbreaking good morning to you. The couple announced their third pregnancy one month ago. After posting about recent complications from her hospital bed, chrissy and john have now revealed a devastating loss. Reporter this morning, heartbreaking news from Chrissy Teigen she and her husband, john legend, announcing wednesday they lost their third child after she suffered a miscarriage. Posting this message on social media. We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about. The kind of pain weve never felt before. Teigen writing the couple had decided to break their tradition, selecting a baby name early. We never decide on our babys names until the last possible moment after theyre born, just before we leave the hospital but we, for some reason, decided to call this little guy in my belly jack the 34yearold hospitalized after experiencing what she describes as very bad bleeding from what she calls a weak placenta. Always, always bleeding its been going on for like a month. Reporter teigen underwent two blood transfusions. Im starting to feel like the blood loss is actually making me weak reporter while she had hoped to stop the blood loss, doctors were unable to writing, it just wasnt enough teigen had been on bedrest for two weeks prior to her hospitalization, about halfway through her pregnancy. Chrissy was public about her previous struggles with ivf, undergoing rounds to conceive 4yearold luna and 2yearold miles. But as john recently told today, baby number three was a surprise it was a surprise, a little quarantine surprise, i guess you could say. Mommy loves you so, so much. Reporter teigen had not received her specific diagnosis, but dr. Torres said mothers should pay particular attention to bleeding. The further along in the pregnancy, the more they notice the bleeding, the higher risk of having a miscarriage. Reporter now, the celebrity couple sharing their private pain publicly, with a poignant message about loss and love. On this darkest of days, we will grieve we will cry our eyes out, but we will hug and love each other harder and get through it. Of course, our hearts go out to chrissy and john we certainly wish them the best during a very difficult time by sharing their story, there are women theyve never met who i know theyll help. Chrissy teigen shares her life, the good, the bad, and the difficult. It is time to bring in family and clinical psychologist dr. Jennifer hartstein good morning good morning. It is very public a lot of women who go through this, and so many women go through it, they keep it private. It is like a private pain. Its hard to underscore just how difficult this is for a mom, right . Agreed. I think theres a wonderful opportunity here for this to become a conversation people are having, right . Miscarriages are suffered in silence by so many women and so many families. Lets make this part of the conversation 15 to 20 of women are found to suffer from miscarriages its happening a lot, and were still not talking about it so if we can be open, if we can follow this example, we can take the shame away from it jen, i think for those who are trying to be supportive or be there for somebody who had a miscarriage, it is a real grief, a deep grief its the loss of a baby and a loss of hope absolutely. I think we minimize that sometimes. We kind of dismiss it, like, okay, just try again, try again. But there is an automatic bond for a mother and a pregnancy, right . You see the pregnancy stick, and there is an automatic bond once there might be an ultrasound, there might be a bond with the father or whatever partner there might be so i think we have to be very aware of the fact that this is a true, real grief we dont want to minimize that for anybody. We also dont want to play the, well at least you have these other children game the two things are separate. We can love the children we have and grieve the one weve lost. Dr. Hartstein, men and women, we do everything differently, but we respond to miscarriages differently, as well what can husbands or just partners, boyfriends, what can they do to help their wife or partner deal with something lik i think that it this well, i think partners often want to take the pain away, and i think that its important to let everybody have pain, right i think, in fact, to recognize for yourself as a partner, what pain you are going through this is also a loss for you. So letting people have their grieving process is a really important element. To just be supportive and be there and kind of not try to hurry it along i think all of those are really important elements as a partner to offer that support. Dr. Hartstein, we appreciate you getting up this morning. Thank you. Thanks, guys. 8 17 lets switch gears and turn to mr. Roker for another check of the weather. Hey, buddy. For today, record highs and fire danger out west temperatures setting records in parts of california. Well be watching that behind this system, very cool conditions, plenty of sunshine flooding likely down in extreme southern florida today good morning. Im meteorologist kari hall. Were seeing a lot of smoke this morning and the air quality is so unhealthy. You need to make sure youre limiting your time outside. Were seeing the worst of that in the north bay and now moving into the south bay as well. As we see high temperatures for this afternoon, it is going to be hot. Reaching into the triple digits. We have a heat advisory in effect. 95 will be the high in san jose. 102 in antioch and 99 in napa. Dont forget, were on dont forget, were on your radio, too, having a good time on sirius xm channel 108 check it out. Anybody called you about the glasses yet . I dont think deborah watched. Okay. Al, thank you. Now a new competitor in the Online Retail wars walmart recently launched a Membership Program that delivers household goods, toys, electronics, and groceries, putting the Worlds Largest retailer in position to take on amazon prime how do the two Services Stack up headtohead . Only one person who can find out. Nbcs investigative and consumer correspondent, vicky nguyen. She checked it out and is here with the results just in time for the Holiday Season walmart is raising the stakes to deliver all of your shopping needs right to your door with this new service, walmart plus in a faceoff against amazon prime, what can consumers expect from value to variety and speed . We wanted to see who does it better reporter during the pandemic, Online Grocery delivery saw dramatic growth, up 500 compared to last summer consumers have more choices than ever for how to get their household goods. Add walmart plus for 12. 95 a month or 98 bucks a year walmart plus offers unlimited, free delivery. Sound familiar amazon prime offers the same service for 119 a year. Already, the prices are different. Its not just about price. What about variety, quality, delivery times to find out how the services compare, im going to shop using one grocery list at walmart plus and amazons two grocery services, flesh and whole foods. Firsttime shoppers can try the services for free. Walmart plus offers a 15day trial. If you answer a few questions, it goes up to 30 days free, like amazon prime for grocery list, were sticking to the basics. Milk, eggs, bread, meat, ice cream, snacks, and laundry supplies amazon fresh and walmart plus offer a wide variety of products whole foods has its store brand, so we have comparable items. Got to get the milk. Walmart has our Tortilla Chips now, delivery time for an additional fee, walmart plus and whole foods could get the orders sooner, but i select the first free delivery windows for all three. Time to place the orders now, we wait thank you so much. Youre welcome. All three arrive within their promised windows so theyre on time but what about the condition of the items . For whole foods. Lets see what we got. Looks pretty good. Not melted no cracks. Perfect condition. Our walmart plus order had a few changes. We didnt order chunky monkey. It was half baked, but they had to substitute. Walmart substituted 4 out of the 12 items we ordered, including a chuck roast instead of the rib eye. And these hot dogs we ordered a pack of 6, but there is a pack of 20. Thats a lot of hot dogs we got everything we ordered from amazon fresh. No substitutions our ice cream did come a little squishy. Thats pretty soft this is kind of weird packaging. The detergent came in the same bag as the bread, so the bread got a little smooshed. The moment of truth, and the most important question, how much did we pay for each order even with the substitutions, walmart came in the lowest at 58. 33 amazon fresh, giving us exactly what we ordered, 65. 14. The most expensive, whole foods, 77. 84 the totals each included a 5 tip. Walmart plus versus amazon prime, from a delivery standpoint, no major issues. Variety and price, shoppers will see a difference remember to read the fine print. Depending on where you live, services may require a minimum order amount to get freeousehol. If youre unhappy with what you get or the substitutions, ask delivery in addition to groceries, both Services Deliver thousands of other household goods, too if youre unhappy with what you get or the substitutions, Ask Customer Service for a refund or replacement. My favorite part of the story was your reaction to the ice cream. We didnt order chunky monkey. Yeah, we allowed them to substitute, and it was about a third of what we ordered for the record, i like it squishy. Hoda i like it firm. Me, too im with you. What were some of the other differences in the services . I think its the brand names. Thats what people are looking for, right if you want that, its amazon fresh and walmart plus all the way. If youre okay with substitutions or store brands, whole foods has just as much variety, it is just not going to be the things you recognize. You got the 20 hot dogs instead of the 6. Yeah. Did they charge you for the or the 20 . Only for the 6, which was great. We didnt get charged extra, though we got a bunch more hot dogs. Hot dogs for the next two months if youre trying the services for the first time, what should you take into account . I think it is important for people to know that you can actually pick the specific replacement items you want, or you can make a request that you dont want substitutions, and they should just refund you. Also, ask the driver to ring the doorbell if you want, so you can get the groceries and bring them in right away. Another pro tip, you can team up with neighbors or nearby family. That way, you can make the order minimums or save money remember, you should budget for tips these are essential workers. They are working harder than ever right now to meet demand. Agree that was great, as usual. Neighbors are there, give the extra hot dogs to them. Exactly everybody wins. Not the chunky monkey thank you just ahead, carson is back with pop start, including new proof confirming something we already knew oh, wait, does it have to do with Jennifer Lopez . Shes an icon and fab we knew that it was confirming, okay . Yeah. First, a check of your local news, your weather, and these messages and a good morning to you. Its 8 26. Im marcus washington. Adam sandler, he has been in obviously countless movies, sporting different voices, lots of different looks by now, weve seen adam pretty much as everything, clean shaven, the mustache, so great in uncut gems. Weve never seen sandler go full beard for a role, but he was sporting it on jimmy kimmel live. Sandler saying his dad had a beard like that, and even though it is for a role, people dont like it. This is similar to the way my dads beard was, gray at the bottom i dont have gray hair on my head, but i have grays coming out the bottom here. For some reason, it comes out the bottom first it is amish, very mennonite, your beard yeah, its awful. Nobody likes it at all people on the street go, no no, adam i go, no, its for a movie no movie no its funny when youre famous and you try a new look, even strangers feel like they have the right to come up to go and go, no, no, thats not working. Sorry, hoda, wrong color go back to how it was. Next up, comedy store, the Los Angeles Club thats given our favorite actors and comedians their start. The story is being told by those people for a new showtime docuseries. Jim carrey, Whoopi Goldberg and others in the series we got an exclusive clip of David Letterman talking about his first time at the comedy store. Within two weeks of coming out here, i showed up on a monday night, and went on stage petrified, blinded by the light, and did okay the next week, i came back, and th not great. I had no material. It was at that point that mitzy said, you should come back. I said, great. I drove home and thought, wow, this is a personal breakthrough. The next week, i came back, and there was a list of people my name wasnt on it im thinking, i think she said i should come back finally, my friend, george, said, [ bleep ], you have to call in and theyll give you a time lucky for us, dave got back on stage, and the rest is history. Thats a beard, by the way thats like sandler 3. 0 right there. Comedy store premieres on showtime sunday night at 10 00. Next up, ac dc officially now making the comeback. Its been six years since the band last released an album. Fans thinking theyd broken up for good reports of the bands demise have been greatly exaggerated. Ac dc joined instagram just two days ago, which is funny, just to post cryptic teasers. Wednesday, they finally revealed the news weve been waiting for. The image with the whole band, including johnson, young, rudd, and williams, making their return caption, are you ready, using the hashtag power up a lot of people suspected thatd be the name of the new album, which has been reportedly finished quite some time but delayed due to the pandemic. Hopefully this means some new ac dc very soon. One more story Jennifer Lopez, all jennifer all the time on the today show love it. Now, she is officially an icon the singer and actress going to be receiving the icon award at the e peoples choice award. One could argue this i overdue. J. We are launching our pink power series on this first day of Breast Cancer awareness month. Were starting off with one of our 8 42 we are launching our pink power series on this first day of Breast Cancer awareness month. Were starting off with one of our own, one of our beloved. One of our favorites. A little over a year ago, Kristin Dahlgren was diagnosed with Breast Cancer she shared her journey, including her unusual symptom to try to help others this morning, shes shedding light on a side effect of mastectomy we dont often hear about. First of all, how are you doing . How are you feeling . Hey, good morning, guys yeah, i feel great im praying every day that my health holds out im about to enter the next phase of this, something called reconstruction its not something that we talk about a lot and, frankly, i have never really thought about or realized that women who have mastectomies generally lose feeling. Think about that thats never feeling a hug or my little girl falling asleep on my chest. I thought that it was something that i had to live with, and then i found this innovative procedure thats giving some women back the most basic thing. Feeling. Reporter i first met jane obadiah when researching reconstruction after Breast Cancer her story so touching. I was 43. Reporter in many ways, similar to mine. I sat with a breast surgeon and said to her, its taken me all this time to find the man of my dreams. What do i have to do to grow old and wrinkly with him she said, double mastectomy, and thats what we did reporter it cuts the nerves, leaving no feeling it hit her when her baby was on her chest. I had to look down to see she was there. Thats when i first sort of really took on how much of a loss that sensation was. Reporter she thought it was something she had to live with. It is almost like you have a sense of survivors guilt. Im one of the lucky ones. Im here i really want women to know, and any Breast Cancer patient, that you can want more. Reporter when jane started to have problems with her implants, she caught out dr. Constance chen for a tissue reconstruction, where fattened tissue from a patients body is used to create breasts dr. Chen is one of a handful of surgeons reconstructing nerves with the surgeon, called resensation, similar to nerve graphs which have been widely used since 2007. Some patients feel full sensation. Reporter youre scheduled to do my surgery, so weve had frank discussions. Does this work for everyone . The short answer is, no, i dont think it works for every single person. From my perspective, id like to at least try to restore sensation for people because when it works well on people, it works quite well. Reporter no guarantees, but dr. Chen says all of her patients have gotten some level of sensation back. The procedure does add an hour or two to what is already a long surgery. Studies are currently under way to analyze outcomes. It took some time for her sensation to return, but jane says she now has about 80 of her feeling back do you remember the first time you felt alanna in a hug i think the poor child was like, will you let me go the moment i didnt get was given back to me thats priceless reporter thats what im most looking forward to, is having that again. After a disease that can often feel like it has taken so much, feeling normal can be the best feeling in the world i think what this surgery gave me was the ability to be able to stand in front of my husband and say, youve got jannie back. Im back. To be able to have that connection back with him, that thats been everything now, like everything with Breast Cancer, this is an individual decision. It may not be for everyone, but it is something that people can now, like everything with Breast Cancer, this is an individual decision. It may not be for everyone, but it is something that people can ask about. Ask about. Women should, at the very least, know what options are available, guys i love what she said, like, you can actually ask for more. Its so great to see the strides theyve made in Breast Cancer surgeries. By the way, just awesome to see you doing so well. Were so happy to see you like this i know you started Radiation Therapy during the pandemic. Obviously, needed to see your doctors regularly. Its been weird, given whats going on how has all of that been reporter right so much has changed in medicine over the past year that ive been under treatment i actually havent seen my radiation oncologist in person since i started radiation. So much of it is done through telehealth for other visits, i do need to go in and see someone in person to get the treatment, to get the scans. I think the biggest change for me is even with this upcoming surgery, i dont know if my husband is going to be able to go with me, because the visitor policies change sort of on a daily basis, depending on what case counts are. Thats where these Amazing Health care workers come in, not just to show up and be there so you can get the treatment, but also, you know, to have a hand to hold through it albeit a gloved or handsanitized hand. Kristin, you are a pillar of strength were so proud of you. We love you. And glad to see you doing so well thank you for the story. I think itll give a lot of hope to people. Reporter i hope so thanks, guys. Coming up, were also going to be highlighting stories like this all month more on our website, today. Com pinkpower. The last six months, a lot of were back with today style. The last six months, a lot of us have been living a digital life. Work, school, dating all happening virtually. Its made getting dressed a bit of a closet science experiment here to help us get it together and look for polished, at least from the waist up, is founder of the curvy girls guide cici, good morning good to see you, you, too youll help us clean our acts up from the waist up. Lets start with what you recommend for womens work wear. Absolutely. So i know a lot of us are doing different appointments on zoom my favorite thing to do is focus on structure from the waist up look at this solid rae blouse. See the sleeves with the structure and beautiful shape . Thatd be perfect, like my model, jess. Part of my curvy girls guide community. Wear it with a pencil skirt or trousers. Polished and cute what about a virtual date . Hard to date online, but what do you wear yes im in new york city, making virtual dating even more complicated. Two rules, either show your shape or show a little skin. These options give you that. This off the shoulder. Or this mini dress that i just fell in love with. I asked another girl from my community, mercy hogan, in california, to model it for us it is a great way to show the silhouette and a tiny bit of skin she put on the cozy slippers for the virtual date adding a red lip and red nails helps, too. Yeah, the cozy slippers it makes you feel special. I love that. Whats a good a lot of us have been wearing the sweats how about an everyday work from home look . Yes my favorite thing to do is to have a day with no meetings. When i do that, it is all about the soft jumpsuits, the onepiece hoodies. But if you want to make sure you can dash out for an errand or to pick up your kids, i absolutely recommend this made well denim jumpsuit i love you can pair it with a turtleneck underneath. As we get into spring next year, throw on a tshirt doesnt she look gorgeous in that i love that. So easy for home and on the go the way she styles it is perfect. It gives you a little texture, and shes doing layers no layers, whatever youre comfortable with. We love her, one of our today producers. She looks gorgeous lets talk about the guys, all right . Yes. A lot of women want to have an intervention with their man what do you think they should wear for work wear for me, i love to see a guy in a structured cardigan if you can find that kind of roll neck collar, something that gives a little bit Something Interesting to look at on the zoom meeting call. This one from banana republic, i think, looks really great. Pair it with a button down underneath or a simple tshirt then we have another great model there. For the guys for a virtual date, you have to step it up a little bit. Absolutely. For the guys, you can be really kind of casual and sexy in a sweater. Something easy and vneck, like a nice, romantic color, like a merlot old navy has a soft wash sweater for 20 bucks, which is perfect if you can get a tripod or something on the virtual date, whoever youre talking to on the other side doesnt feel dizzy from all the motion sickness the guys over here are really responding to the merlot sweater, especially on kevin, our plaza producer he is wearing it very well cici, thank you so much. You gave us great ideas. If you missed it, you can find all those tops at today. Com shop guys savannah, thank you. Were moving on to one of our favorite moments of the day. Hello.
