Turning to decision 2020. In just the past hour we learned that President Trump got some good news from his doctor. The doctor cleared him to go out in public starting this saturday. Saturday marks ten days since the president was diagnosed. This comes as the president says he wants to return to holding inperson rallies leading up to election day. Today the president also refused to participate in the next debate with democrat joe biden. The Debate Commission that the debate would be virtual because of the president s covid diagnosis. Joe biden said he was open to a virtual debate, but President Trump scoffed at the idea of sitting behind a computer to debate. He also noted the moderators could cut him off whenever they felt the need to do that. Im not going to waste my time on a virtual debate. You never know whats going to come out of his mouth. Who knows . Also today the president released a new video from the white house promising to get americans the same drugs he was given while at walter reed medical center. Youre going to get the same medicine. Youre going to get it free, no charge. And were going to get it to you soon. In that message, the president did not specify which medicines specifically hes talking about, but we do know he was on several medications, including remdesivir, which was developed by foster city company gilead. So will it hurt the president if he skips out on that virtual debate . Janelle wang gets some insight on the pros and cons from nbcs legal analyst. Yeah. Jessica, the short answer is yes. The legal analyst says the debate could only help President Trump mobilizing and energizing his base even more. Heres stanford law professor nate persoli. The next debate will be virtual. President trump saying he wont participate. Why do you think that it is. I think he sees a face to face debate as helping him. We saw in the first debate it got precombative and that suits President Trumps style. Im not surprised he wouldnt aseed to a system in which the moderator might be able to turn off the zoom if he talked beyond his time limit, for example. Do you think this will hurt President Trump if he doesnt participate in the second president ial debate . I think it will hurt President Trump because he needs to make up for his loss in the polls. Generally speaking, the candidate who is down in the polls needs the debate. And so if things stay the same until the election, then the polls are in Vice President bidens favor. So it advantages him not to have the debate. So i think for President Trump, he really does need the debate, but he didnt want it under this format because it doesnt suit his debating skills. President trump has suggested pushing back the debate, but joe bidens campaign rejected that idea today, saying the president cant make the debate schedule. The Debate Commission does. So the second debate next week on october 15th is still up in the air. Its supposed to be a town hall style, and bidens camp says the democratic nominee will just do the town hall solo without President Trump. As for the third debate, it is still on for october 22nd, two weeks from now, and its supposed to take place in nashville, tennessee. Well have to wait and see what happens. Raj and jessica. I had never really done it before except i think when i was like, you know, in girl scouts or something. Reporter it had its roots, katie says, in a place which will sound familiar to any parent of a toddler these days. I think i was like every mom in the world, scrambling to just find new activities, things to keep us creative, things to keep us going. I saw a tie dye kit online. I was like this looks like it could be fun. I definitely can make some school stuff for my daughter and i. It just sort of took off from there. Reporter took off indeed. A beautiful rainbow. Reporter garvin thomas, nbc bay area news. Who cant feel optimistic when youre wearing a rainbow sweatshirt . It puts a smile on our face just watching. 100 . We could have used that little rainbow sweatshirt today, jeff, because it was a little chillier outside. It was cooler outside. So enjoyable, though, after all the heat weve had over the past couple of months. Even if youre only able to get outside for just a couple of minutes, it just felt refreshing. Look at the numbers here. Coolest weather by my calculation in 123 days. Last time we had three days in a row in the forecast of 70s was back on june 5th, 6th, and also the 7th. And talk about a hot summer. 100 and over hotter days, weve had 14 of them so far, with the hottest being on september 7th, up to 112 degrees. This is the warm of the weather weve seen since 2017, when we had 20 days at 100 or hotter. So, yes, we are all thankful to get some cooler weather in here. Lets bring you into the numbers and data. Were running about 4 to 10 degrees cooler right now and 60s for the inland valleys. 69 over to concord for that current temperature. 67 in livermore. 68 right here in san jose. Were seeing the fog at the coastline but theres Something Else thats happening to drop our temperatures. Its a system weve been tracking for the past ten days. This thing is now starting to move closer, getting the fog going, moving in some cooler air. Unfortunately the rainfall chances we had been tracking as well, those are going away with this storm. Its going to be moving off to the south as we move through tomorrow, taking those best rain chances unfortunately with it off to the south. But we will get the fog for tomorrow morning, even a chance here of some spotty drizzle right near the immediate coastline. Then as we move through the day, well keep some of that cloud cover with us as well. So not the sunniest of days, but it will feel like fall out there and be enjoyable once again. Well begin chilly with 50s for the south bay, trivalley. San francisco 57. The north bay at 53. Daytime highs, 4 to 8 degrees below average with that current weather pattern in place. So this will bring us some 60s tomorrow. 68 right there in cupertino. 69 milpitas. Back down to 73 in concord and 66 in hayward. More of those 60ss through the peninsula. 68 in redwood city. 65 in san mateo. San francisco the chilliest location because you are so close to that ocean breeze. I have you at 58 in the marina and 57 for the outer sunset. Right across the north bay where that fire danger has been extremely high and for all the firefighters on the fire lines, well see plenty of upper 60s and low 70s tomorrow, so that is also some really great relief. My extended forecast will keep this trend through this weekend with 60s in san francisco. Notice as we hit saturday, a 55 chance of an isolated shower, so still not that great on saturday. That will be from a storm system off to the north. And right here through the inland valleys, well stay with 70s through this weekend, warming it up to 78 on sunday. Well get back to some 80s as we head through the mid and end part of next week. Now, with this weather, the next two days we are also going to see some good air quality return across the bay area. That storm system offshore is really going to help to stir things up and, well, get that smoke out of here. So its great to be able to deliver a little bit of good news on that Weather Report after all of our fire danger lately. So, raj and jess, did you get outside at all today . Was it too cool for you . Did you like it . I love it. I love Walking Around outside right now. I worked out at 7 30 in the morning. It was 36 degrees. Did you even sleep last night . We did the 11 00 news. Nice. It was nice.
