The question now how do we enjoy the holiday while staying safe durlg the pandemic . Health officers from most counties issue joint guidelines today for staying safe. They focus on thousand deal with gatherings and travel. Giving advice on how to reduce risk. Avoid large family gatherings. The safe thing to do is stick with members your household and visit others virtually. If you do gather with family, wear masks. Keep distance. And stay out doors. This is hard to do. Especially with the temperatures dropping. Keep gatherings small and short. Avoid traveling long distances. Be prepared fo quarantine. The new guidelines come as some counties see a spike in covid19 cases again. That includes santa clara. The arch number of cases since may. The cases climb here through the next if months until they hit the peak in midjuly. At 268. Average on july 15. Since then the numbers of cases slowly dropping down to average low. This is late september. Of 95. Then cases steadily rise all of october. Now the average 139. With winter and the holiday approaches theres potential trouble ahead. The strategy is about to change. The moves counties plan on making. Well. You just showed us the numbers. They are starting to go up. That is alarming some state officials. Now, because those cases are going up they decided they need to change things and make a move. Maybe move into the more restrictive tier. Lets go over some of the numbers. 358 new cases reported in the county on sunday. And the number of hospitalization is up too. It is not completely clear exactly what is driving this sharp surge. Slow the spread. Vigilant. Wear a mask. Practice social distancing. Also asking businesses to adhere to safety protocol. There is a team out that is going to be really reinforcing going to businesses to make sure they are enforcing the safety protocol. And there are violations being given out. The bottom line is we really have to go back to Health Officer states and felt and acted in march. When we first were really in the middle of this pandemic. And shutting things down. If we want to keep things open we have to act. Tomorrow well expect to hear from state officials if which counties will be moved in to a more restrictive tier. That always happens on a tuesday.
