Not yet but we will see it the rest of the day moving north to south. We can still see the rain approaching the far northwestern california coast and were going to see that moving in as we go into today. As we power up storm ranger it is starting to pick up on some very light sprinkles but the heavier stuff comes this morning. Ill time it out in a few minutes. Mike, any issues for the Early Morning commute . No major issues but one in martinez. Lets look at the big view. You see green. That will put you at ease. A major connector coming off the carquinez bridge area. Theres glass on the roadway. There is glass from what, i dont know. That moves smoothly. Back to you. There are a lot of new covid restrictions out there this morning, a lot to digest. Well break it all down if you do or just stay in because youre going to have to now. Six bay area counties now in that purple tier, the most restrictive. Businesses on the left must move outside doors, restaurants, wineries, gyms, museums and zoos as well as card rooms and places of worship. On the right businesses that can continue to operate indoors that includes retail shops and malls but at 25 capacity. Hair salons, barber shops, nail salons and other personal Care Services can also stay indoors. San francisco, san mateo and marin. Restaurants, movie theaters and places of worship at 25 capacity. Gyms are at 10 . Remember, this is the bare minimum of what is required. Counties can put even more restrictions in place. San francisco, for example, has already shut down indoor dining. The bay area isnt alone when it comes to restrictions. 41 out of the states 58 counties are in the states most restrictive purple tier. The stricter measures come as the governor says hes pulling the emergency brake to slow the spread. Hospitalizations up 30 statewide. This is the fact california has seen since the beginning of this pandemic. No matter what tier youre in you can go to the Grocery Store and visit businesses deemed essential. Mask up and practice social distancing. Theres a new mask mandate for all californians as covid cases start to surge. State Health Leaders say people should wear a face coverings everywhere outside of their homes with only a few exceptions. Hand sanitizer and social distancing without a mask will not be enough. You dont have to wear a mask if you are alone in your car, working alone in your office or eating or drinking. With new restrictions returning to dozens of counties in the state, well, so is the panic buying. Some stores Paper Products and meats, well, theyre disappearing just like they did back in march at the beginning of the pandemic from Big Box Stores to local Grocery Stores things like toilet paper, paper towels are disappearing from store shelves. That panic buying is playing out around the country. Employees at Quality Foods center says theres no reason to load up, but some may think that they just need to because of the holiday season. I think a lot of people are trying to get it done now and make sure they have everything they need. We have plenty of food in the supply chain but we need people to buy only what they need now. Some stores are putting black friday deals online early hoping to salvage sales this holiday season. Leaders this week will vote on a new belt tightening measure. The Agency Getting hit hard with plummeting ridership. They will consider offering an early retirement buyout plan to lower the workforce as much as 40 . Our cameras right now taking a live look across the skies and you can see now things are clear, but as meteorologist kari hall has been tracking that, that is going to change. Yeah, its so great to see we are going to get some rain and its also coming along with cooler temperatures bringing back that fall feel to the bay area as we take a look at storm ranger. Thats the red scan were seeing there. And so far picking up on very light showers. But this is not the main line of rain that will be moving in. As you head out in parts of marin and southern sonoma counties expect light rain. We are going to see this moving from north to south as we go into today. Well talk more about this coming up. East to west, thats the bay bridge, well talk about the lower deck out of San Francisco as you approach Treasure Island overnight and begin a project there. The off ramp overnight from time to time youll see that off ramp close. Right now its fine and the westbound commute is your direction. I80 also in vallejo starting last night, the six bridges project for the next four years working on overpasses through vallejo making them higher so larger truck cans go underneath them. Yeah, we are going to have some much cooler temperatures moving in today. Wasnt really supposed to be that warm when you compare what we normally have in the middle of november. So today were going back to some normal temperatures, and its all brought by this cold front that will start to bring us some rain. Well be tracking that rain with storm ranger, you can do the same at home if you have the nbc bay area app. We are seeing light showers moving through parts of marin county and southern sonoma county. Some of the heavier rain still well to the north of us. As we go through the time line we take it through 9 00. A lot more people are up, out and about. Well see some heavy rain moving through parts of the north bay as it moves into parts of the peninsula, moving south of the Golden Gate Bridge at about 2 00 this afternoon. Well see it not as heavy as what well see in the north bay. More scattered showers. It will be off and on as it approaches the south bay later on this evening. There may be a break but then well see still some spotty showers lingering even into early tomorrow, possibly into tomorrow afternoon which could add up on those rainfall totals that well see as we go through the time line once again looking a little wet for tomorrow and our rainfall totals will reach in some spots up to a quarter to half an inch. Higher rainfall totals will be in parts of the north bay where we could see possibly over an inch of rain in mill valley and in ukiah looking at close to an inch of rain while the sierra will have decent amounts of snow, up to 21 inches at some of our ski resorts. Ill be tracking this. How is it looking now for the commute . Looking good for the big picture, kari. I do have to call out observiak green sensors around the bay. Zooming into the nimitz, between 23rd and 29th, we talk about it frequently because we have overnight closures frequently right now. Were down to one lane, the southbound direction. Watch that. Closing arguments in that trial wrapped up yesterday. 60yearold Charles Waller is accused of sexual attacks spanning six counties including three in the bay area. Hes being tried in sacramento. Authorities arrested him with the help of dna evidence. He testified that he cant explain why his dna was found in the homes of half a dozen of those victims. Now to a followup for you, the university of california system has reached a 73 million settlement surrounding sexual abuse claims involving a former ucla gynecologist. The federal judge still has to approve the deal. Several patients accused him of Sexual Assault and misconduct between 1983 and 2018. As part of the classaction suit more than 6,600 could receive part of that settlement. A few california lawmakers and lobbyists are reportedly not letting the pandemic get in the way of an exclusive getaway. They spent the past week at a political Conference Held every year in maui.
