Kari hall is tracking that for us. Kari, i saw a little bit coming in this morning. The visibility cut down in some spots down to zero. Looking good here in downtown san jose and that fog will cause a lot of problems for the morning commute, especially in the north bay and then the sunshine returns this afternoon and there is no rain in the forecast. Lets get to that visibility right now as we look at livermore down to zero and only a quarter mile visibility in novato and half mile visibility in santa rosa. Well talk more about this coming up. Mike, how is it looking for the commute . Kari, that advisory those numbers well show with that camera. The Golden Gate Bridge an easy drive as far as the volume of traffic but the fog advisory from chp as we talk about fog impeding the view of the bridge itself. There goes a car able to go normally. The fog shows you farther and yellow highlighting and a crash on 780 and well detail that coming into vallejo and well track it. Back to you. Thank you very much. Breaking new developments overnight in the search for a covid19 vaccine. Astrazeneca says that phase two trials with the vaccine it is working on with Oxford University are safe and create an immune response from the virus, including in older adults over the age of 70. Now, this is important as that age group tends to see the most severe cases of covid19. And those infections can lead to death. The testing does not assess the vaccines efficacy, something its phase three trials are currently trying to confirm. The progress is very much needed here in california. The state has more than 1 million cases. Nearly 10,000 new covid cases were added. The Positivity Rate is also rising. The sevenday average is at 5. 3 . And we are now one week from thanksgiving and Many Americans rushing out to get the covid test ahead of the holidays, including up and down california. The past few weeks weve been watching people in those long lines at Dodger Stadium down in l. A. And they have really been working trying to get those tests before the holidays. The cdc says that thanksgiving gatherings are a high risk so many people are taking precaution ahead of time. Doctors say its ideal to get tested two days before thanksgiving, but the high volume of tests could cause problems. Theres a lot of lag between testing and resulting and there will be presumably a lag between when you get the test and when you meet with your family members. Doctors say even with a negative test, you should still wear a mask and keep your distance. B. A. R. T. Leaders are meeting today to try to figure out how to close a 33 million budget deficit because they are saying they have fewer riders. It includes voting on possible early retirement buyout plans that may actually lower the work force as much as 40 . Another option is Weekend Service cuts. San jose leaders are taking critical steps in the Police Department reforms that theyre looking for. The mercury news reports that committees yesterday approved mayor sam liccardos plan to begin negotiations with police about proposed department changes. Westbound 780 heading towards i80 and heading towards the carquinez bridge and the slowing i saw earlier has cleared up. So, kari, what are we looking at today . This morning the issue is fog. Some of us are barely able to see past the headlights as you head to work this morning. Once that moves out, were in for a nice day. The wide view of the weather system that passed by way off to the east and clouds to the west of us. But that will just roll in and out throughout this morning. As you make plans and you are in san jose and head out for a jog. Temperatures in the upper 40s so you will at least need long sleeves and then the rest of the day it gradually warms up as we see the sun peeking out from behind those clouds this afternoon. Lets get a look at all our highs because it will be a little cool for us reaching 60 degrees in milpitas and south county up to 63 in gilroy and 62 for a high in concord and also 62 today in oakland. Right along the coastline, well see that fog linger a little bit longer for the afternoon reaching to 58 in half moon and San Francisco also in the upper 50s today while the north bay highs will reach into the low 60s this afternoon. Nova novato. Looking ahead, it stays dry. Even though there will be some weather systems passing to our north, the bay area looks to remain dry into the weekend as well as early next week and even looking ahead to thanksgiving. Were not going to see any rain here but if youre traveling north, expect some rain across parts of the pacific northwest. As we look at our forecast here, well, its just going to clear out and were going to have a nice, quiet weather pattern. More of the same weather each and every day. But, unfortunately, no more rain coming our way and chilly mornings dropping down into the mid 30s with highs reaching into the low to mid 60s and even into next week, were, once again, looking at sunshine in the forecast with San Francisco mainly reaching into the low 60s. Mike, weve been monitoring the fog, hows it looking right now . Any problems popping up . You know, no problems reported but clearly ive heard friends from the trivalley coming out of brentwood and 580 very tough to see, kari, you talked about zero visibility there. Look at our maps and the yellow blob and thats where we have dense fog through the north bay, as well. Keep that in mind out of vallejo over towards petaluma and down towards san rafael. But freeway, highway 101 moves very smoothly right now. A nice drive coming through most of the area as far as the speeds are concerned but lower those speeds. Trivalley will have a lot of fog.
