We will have some sunshine for today and a touch cooler heading for thanksgiving and this weekend well continue with the mild and dry weather with our High Temperature today reaching into the low to mid60s. All good here. Well talk about whats ahead in the forecast and if we can get any rain coming up in a few minimum. Mike, how is it looking for the commute . Well, the bay bridge toll plaza metering lights have perhaps turned on in the last couple of minutes. I do see some slowing at the toll plaza, brake lights. As we look at the toll plaza itself the middle lanes are the first to stack up right on schedule. As we look at the map its not as severe as we often see. A lighter pattern for thanksgiving week but we still have some slowing for the areas. Do keep that in mind. A lot of slowing westbound 580 approaching lake shore. The crash was reported on the eastbound side. That cleared up suddenly and without explanation for either the clearing. Well monitor that but so far oakland looks great. So does the rest of the bay. Nearly 2,000 people died and the number of cases are spiking. The testing rate is also blowing up. Bob redell with more in san ramon. Reporter what Contra Costa County is doing is stopped temporarily administering flu shots to focus on covid testing at places like this one in san ramon. The demand for these tests are surging here and in other parts of the bay area as people try to get tested before traveling or getting together for the thanksgiving holiday with their family and friends. Contra costa county says covid tests are available for those who are symptomatic and for first responders. Otherwise appointments are fully booked. If youre asymptomatic you can get a test result in time if youre willing to pay for it. Nbc bay area checks in with a local pharmacy yesterday here in the county. When we said we were asymptomatic we could not get an appointment for a free test but could get tested if we were willing to pay 139. We spoke with a woman at Oakland International who just returned from portland. She paid to get tested for her kids at home and her mother who has leukemia. Whatever it costs i will do. Were going to double mask up and put a shield on and not eat or drink anything on the plane. Lots of Hand Sanitizer and just not really afraid. Reporter that couple did not take a covid test before flying back home to phoenix. Now just because you test negative doesnt mean you should still travel or gather with people outside your bubble. Its still possible you are infectious if you get tested a day or two after exposure because theres not enough virus built up to show up on a test. Looking at the same weather pattern but there will be a cold front moving through by wednesday just in time for thanksgiving to drop our temperatures. It doesnt bring us any rain.
