In our investigation, she feels the board is sending the wrong message to the community by keeping the superintendent in her position. There is no value in in the staff, the community or the students. Board president Antonio Hernandez agrees, and was one of the two members who voted to remove anello. I think our board needs to understand that the community is angry, that we need to rebuild trust, that this district is not moving in the right direction. Board member gary haake is one of the three trustees who voted against removing the superintendent. He says he doesnt know the details of the bullying claims and based his decision on his working relationship with anello. Happening tomorrow, california regulators will vote on a proposal that could save some people money on their monthly pg and e bills. They include low income earners and owners of electric cars. But under this plan, other customers could end up paying more. The new system is aimed at reducing costs for people impacted by extreme weather, like heat waves and those who charge their electric cars at home. The proposal has two parts it would lower the usage rate by 5 to 0. 07 per kilowatt hour, with rates dropping nearly 10 during peak hours. Under the flat rate, customers would pay about 24 a month, with discounts of up to 12 bucks for those with lower incomes. A lot of people ask, is there a way to just get rid of pg and e . Pg and e issuing a statement in response saying this type of ownership framework would not benefit customers. Taxpayers local communities, the state or californias economy. Pg and going on to say it would cost taxpayers tens of billions of dollars in long term debt, increased taxpayer liability in case of wildfires, and lacks critical federal and state oversight that people are looking for rate relief. Now, the switch from pg and e could cost lots of time and money, according to mark toney, the executive director of the Utility Reform Network or turn, he thinks its unlikely the Richmond City councils resolution will snowball statewide. You have to buy out the investors. You have to pay for the wires, for the poles, for the whole infrastructure for. And thats a years long process. Toney says when the sacramento municipal utility district took over pg and e, it cost billions of dollars and it took decades. He says its a faster and cheaper way to do things, and its in the hands of state lawmakers right now. We need to hold shareholders responsible for paying 50 of all cost overruns, instead of ratepayers paying 100. Hes calling for a law capping rate hikes and for pg and e to choose the least expensive solution to wildfires, for example, insulating wires instead of burying them, and the pg and e spending ratepayer money for Television Commercials for self promotion. Weve seen Something Like this before. San francisco attempted to cut ties with pg and e in 2019, and offered a 2 billion buyout, the utility said no.
