We can see flames picking up on the ridge line behind me. Im along the road and and am joined by cal fire Public Information officer. Give me perspective at this point. Right. Here we are on the north side of the fire. Like you said, winds have been changing all day. The south side has been active most of the day. Now, here we are on the north side. Were seeing extreme fire activity going on. Youre going to see aircraft in, laying retardant down and firefighters can get up close to the fire and put fire out. That is probably reassuring for folks that live where there is an advisory at this point. Do you think crews are able owe get a handle on the ridge line . We hope so. So it is possible its going to dump here, certainly. I want to take a look at. That im told it will make a couple hoops before dropping that fire retardant and create a better line here. They took him to jail after discovering he had arrest warrants. The chp says they did share information about the initial suicide call but he was jailed with the general population. Three days later on tuesday, the 50yearold man hanged himself in a jail shower stall. We know its an apparent suicide. The facts of the case are under investigation. Were deeply concerned that there was no observation being done. Reporter the deputy public defender says this should have been a 72hour watch on petrolino. The judge, at her request ordered a psychiatric evaluation. Every indication was there for the Sheriffs Department to be keeping a close eye on this guy. And obviously, they didnt. Reporter his sister told us she contacted the Sheriffs Office three times after his arrest. I said, well, hes also suicidal. He tried to jump off the bridge.
