Immediately stopped traffic and closed the freeway and the folks continued like you mentioned earlier grabbing whatever they could just to get out of their vehicles and these folks might not even know if they still have vehicles or not. The biggest problem is getting water on it or retardant. Grass fire itself has burned at least 2,000 acres. Not clear how that got started. We still doesnt have a lot of information about whether there are any injuries but you can see the potential with cars on fire and that fastmoving fire that people could get hurt. We saw cars, trucks and a boat catch fire. Paul deanno, its got to be like 100 degrees down there but what about the wind . 99 in San Bernardino right now southwest wind gusting to 17 Miles Per Hour. Its nothing like big wind events in Southern California. Have you ever walked through San Francisco and walked between two very Tall Buildings and that wind gets amplified . Same thing on interstate 15. Youre going between mountains on both sides. So if the official wind on the other side of the pass is 17 Miles Per Hour, i would not be surprised if we doubled that right at pass level. So we are talking a 30 or 35 mileperhour wind gust making a bad situation worse. We all know how only in Northern California but Southern California. Problems on interstate 15. A fire moved by the wind rather rapidly. Right at pass level. Winds gusting likely 25 to 35 Miles Per Hour. Not the santa anas we have seen down there. All right, paul, thanks. Ken, to you, too. We are keeping an eye on this fire along the freeway interstate 15. Well get you another update in just a few minutes. Want to get you now to our exclusive interview with the alleged mastermind of the vallejo kidnapping. Juliette goodrich is at the santa rita jail where she had a fascinating oneonone sitdown with Matthew Muller. Juliette. Reporter veronica, Matthew Muller is in housing unit number 8 here at the Alameda County jail. It was a scheduled jailhouse interview but he didnt have to show up for it. We talked for 30 minutes. We were separated by a glass partition and talked by phone. He opened up about the alleged kidnapping but more specifically, about his mental illness. Now, he seemed very sharp, sincere and sad. Harvard educated attorney and former marine Matthew Muller didnt deny allegations he was the mastermind behind the kidnapping of denise huskins. A bizarre case police initially called a hoax. No cameras are allowed inside the jail during an interview. I couldnt even bring in pen or paper. So i jotted down these notes after the oneonone interview. My first impression, he is extremely intelligent and wasnt shy to talk. He also laid down some ground rules that certain things would be off the record and for background only. Muller told me, quote, i want to focus on the victims. I do feel very bad for denise and other victims out there. I asked him what he thought when Police Originally called it a hoax that denise and her boyfriend aaron quinn made the whole story up. He put his head down and quiet le said, that should never have happened to her. I also told me he suffers from bipolar disorder, ranging from being hyperfocused and a high achiever and extremely productive to suicidal tendencies, paranoia and psychosis. He said, bipolar disorder has many different stages and levels. I dont want anyone to fear someone who has depression or mental illness. Mine is extreme. He told me he was relieved to be in jail right now in a controlled environment. He said that if he were to have a breakdown nothing bad would happen to him or anyone else. Its crime to the level that i have never seen before. Reporter when the bizarre case unfoldled, denises attorney had a 15 page email from the kidnapper on his desk an email demanding police give huskins a full apology. It also had detailed about the sophisticated criminal operation. When we talk, muller didnt want to get into any of these specifics but said again denise and other victims deserve an apology. He told me, quote, i suffer from extreme paranoia and psychosis. It can blur the line we reality and fantasy, in my mind. In those emails and manifesto there was talk of co conspirators. So i asked muller was anyone else involved . But he wouldnt comment on that at all. He went back to talking about his delusional thinking and said that it was very difficult in his adult life for both him and his family. Juliette, you said this guy was extremely intelligent. He went to harvard. He was a lawyer. He was a marine. On the surface it really seems like he had everything going for him. Reporter yeah, absolutely. We did talk about that. He said his childhood was seemingly normal. He said everything kind of started going downhill after the military. He said in 2009 he had a mental breakdown and from there things had highs and lows especially when he was in college and thereafter. And coming up at 6 00, we are going to focus more on why he said it was so hard for him to seek the help that he needed. Thank you, juliette. Developing news out of chattanooga, tennessee.
