Super commuters a treat under 25 minutes between 205 and the dublinpleasanton interchange and your ride heading through oakland along 880 moving at the limit. They did have some overnight roadwork in both directions along this stretch near the coliseum but all appears to have been picked up so things are looking good for your wednesday morning commute. Michelle. Right now, police are trying to track down an escaped inmate who eluded capture during a confrontation with police. The second escaped inmate is in custody. Kpix 5s Jessica Flores is live at the Santa Clara CountySheriffs Office with the latest. Reporter officers cornered one of those escaped inmates yesterday. One person in custody, the other on the run. Police are asking the public to look out for him. Lets show you who they have in custody. 47yearold tramel mcclough. He is now in custody but his partner, 46yearold john bivins is still on the run. And the Sheriffs Department is asking the public to be on the lookout for him. This all happened about 5 00 yesterday afternoon. It was an intense shootout in stockton. Chp units tried to pull over a car on interstate 5 but then it sped off. Officers followed it to a walmart where the driver who investigators said turned out to be mcclough, took off running and was arrested. While that was happening, officers say the passenger, who was bivins, took off. Officers later cornered him on trinity parkway, then gunfire. [ gunfire ] reporter a witness captured the shots being fired. Officers screamed at the man to stay down. But he didnt. Bivins managed to get away again. The two have been on the run since they escaped the palo alto courthouse more than two weeks ago where they were appearing for theft charges. They bolted for the exit and got away in a waiting car. Level of sophistication and the brazenness it takes for these individuals to do that, we are call on the public and other allied agencies to help. Reporter investigators released these new surveillance photos last night of bivins taken at a convenience store. They say he may be driving this green 1999 Ford Explorer. He was standing next to the vehicle last night. The license plate number is 7tyy505. Now, the Sheriffs Department this morning will release more details about their investigation and as we learn more, well bring that to you. Navy says eight people have been recovered in Good Condition after one of its planes crashed today in the pacific ocean. Meanwhile, the search continues for three other people. Reporter they are going to continue deliberations this morning. We could find out their verdict this morning. Jurors began deliberations yesterday afternoon. They are going to be back at it starting at 9 a. M. They are having to look past the National Controversy over illegal immigration here and focus solely on the moments before kate steinle was killed on pier 14. Jose Inez Garcia Zarate is the defendant, a 45yearold homeless mexican who was in the country illegally. He is charged with murder, assault with a Deadly Weapon, and being a felon in possession of a weapon. Steinle was walking with her father when she was hit in the back by a single bullet that ricocheted off the pier. The Prosecutor SaysGarcia Zarate was playing russia roulette. The defense claims it was an accident that jose Inez Garcia Zarate found the gun on the pier wrapped in a piece of cloth just picked it up and that it fired accidentally. The defense cant get away from the fact that someone has to pull the trigger. Thats going to look like a higher level of intent. They have to deal with that. I think the prosecution is dealing with the fact that this crime, this killing, makes no sense. Its not a robbery. Theres no relationship between the parties. And i think thats challenging when pursuing a murder verdict. The gun had been stolen from a u. S. Bureau of Land Management rangers vehicle several days earlier but no evidence links Garcia Zarate to the burglary. Deliberations are scheduled until noon today. Once the jury reaches a verdict, they will give the judge notice and it will be read a halfhour later. Jurors have several options to consider when it comes to the verdict. Reporter they have a new option. They are now able to consider firstdegree murder which is generally willful and premeditated. The prosecution originally only charged him with seconddegree murder which means that it was deliberate but not premeditated or that it was caused by committing an inherently dangerous act. The jurors can also convict on involuntary manslaughter. President trump is defending Republican Senate candidate roy moore implying its better to elect him than a liberal democrat. Moore is accused of sexually assaulting several underaged girls in alabama four decades ago. All right. I want to show you this dense fog advisory that just popped up for most of the Sacramento Valley area but it is impacting our area, as well. The National Weather service issuing a statement that you can expect near zero to less than quarter mile visibility for a lot of the bay area, especially if you are traveling towards the north bay even the east bay valleys, as well. So visibility should be an issue this morning. Santa rosa, Sonoma County airports and livermore airports reporting some trouble there. Heres a look at our visibility map. You can see where its being impacted. Livermore down to a quarter mile visibility there. Hayward dropping off a little bit, as well. Oakland airport down to 5. Petaluma 3. Santa rosa this is the area where the biggest issues are occurring, napa seems to have been clearing off a little bit. But yes, those north bay valleys and the valleys across the east bay as well, that fog is settling in. Its going to continue to do so until about 9 00 this morning. Then you can see it burn off as it heads back out over the ocean. So right now, wind speeds coming out of the east southeast. Thats the reason why were starting to see a little bit of the fog coming in from the sacramento area towards our area. We are also seeing some south winds at sfo thats helping clear things up a little bit and then novato, South Southwest winds coming in from the opposite direction. So we are getting some offshore flow, some onshore flow, High Pressure is really the big story though for the next few days. We are going to continue to see that heat that we saw yesterday. Its going to be warm through the week until sunday. Once that High Pressure moves out east, thats when well start to see a lot of the rain dip down into our area. But we are going to have to wait for it. So at least you can enjoy sunshine for the next few days. This afternoon, all we are going to see is basically some clouds coming through later on. We are also seeing record heat in Southern California. Some areas across Southern California down into the 90s. Well probably be in the upper 70s for a lot of the bay area today. Taking a look at the nation if you are traveling around, there is a blast of cold air coming in from canada. That is bringing some chilly conditions. But you can see across the west coast, were not seeing much snow. Its warmer air that will be impacting most of washington, oregon, with the rain thats coming through so snow levels are very high. But look at all the cold, cold air down into the 30s for the afternoon highs today for minneapolis, detroit, pittsburg, if you are heading that way.
