Melissa caen had the chance to speak with him today, melissa . I did. He was in los angeles so we reached him by phone. And he had this to say. He said it seems that i asked him, it seems that everyone has an opinion of how the prosecution handled the case. I asked him if he would do anything differently in hindsight . The case was handled professionally, obviously the jury disagreed with our assertions, but we did our job. And i stand by the work diana and the team did. They worked very hard and did everything they should have done. And they may have had an uphill battle. San francisco has a reputation for prodefense juries. And i asked the da is that true . Reporter just a few blocks away, police pulled over this gold suv and took the four people inside into custody. Those individuals were occupants of an suv that was described at the scene that was seen traveling with the stolen lottery vehicle. Those two vehicles split up. At this point we believe they have some involvement in the robbery. Reporter the woman driving the lottery van has been treated at the hospital for non life threatening injuries. As for what was inside police arent saying nor are they saying why it was carjacked. But chopper 5 showed boxes of what is likely lottery tickets because the store owner told me the driver was there to change out the tickets in his machine with new ones. And we are told by the operator of that corner store that even if these people had gotten away with the lottery tickets, if that was what was in the back of the van, they would have been of no value because they have to be activated at the register. Its a lethal attack on the middle class. Reporter Republican Leaders brushed aside those objections as well as their own members concerns that the tax plan could explode the deficit. I think it will pay for sxits then some. And if im for itself and then some. And if im wrong, well pay a price. And if im right, i think people will say those guys know what theyre talking about. I asked political director John Dickerson about members from california who oppose the elimination of some key deductions. There will be members, republicans, from those states and cities that youre talking about who will balk at whatever deal is passed.
