Paul ash is executive director of the sf marin food bank. He says the new tax rules may mean Less Charitable giving. With the new standard deduction people will rules the incentive to make donations. With such a High Standard deduction the only people who will claim their charitable contributions will be people who have spent more than 12 or 24,000 on deductible things like charity. Thats not a lot of people. Attorney rob wood is an expert on tax law. People are in general better off making a donation this year than they would be next year. Reporter so charities are concerned. Charities understandably worry that theyre going to be adversely impacted. They arent going to collect as much money. People are not going to be as generous, that kind of thing. According to the tax policy center, Charitable Giving next year could be slashed from 12 billion to 20 billion and for organizations like the food bank even a small decrease can be a big problem.
