A dangerous opioid suspected in the debt of three men in San Franciscos Haight Ashbury neighborhood. Their bodies were found outside the urban school on page street about 4 30 this morning. Kpix5 reporter betty yu is live at the Health Department with concerns about the mens death. Betty . Reporter allen, the San Francisco public Health Department does not know the exact cause of death at this time, but they say the fact that these three people died all at once near each other and near drugs is highly unusual in the city and thats why they suspect fentanyl is to blame. Heroin, and so becau ance of depende its really important for people to know that if you buy drugs on the street, they can be contaminated with fentanyl and its very easy to overdose with fentanyl. Reporter we do not yet know the identity of the three men who died on the sidewalk outside of haightashburys urban school overnight, but we now have a suspect in their deaths, fentanyl, a powerful opioid that often kills before Emergency Responders even have a chance to help. Reporter whether its an obvious street drug like heroin or a pill that looks like a pharmaceutical product, theres no way to tell just by looking at it. Some of our analysts with over 20 years of experience are saying these look completely legitimate. Fentanyl is cheaper than heroin. So it could be laced into the opiate or opioid in formulation. He said many men in this building are being afraid of being seen as protecting him and he also suggested the Senate Pro Tem might not be sincere in his support of the me too movement. Reporter an independent investigation revealed mendoza more likely than not engaged in unwanted flirtatious and sexually suggestive behavior with multiple subordinates including Drinking Alcohol with a 19yearold intern and asked one to come to his home under the guise of doing resumes. Mendoza called the charges unfair. He is not the only senator currently accused of Sexual Harassment at the capitol. So sacramento will be dealing with more cases like this in the coming weeks. There is breaking news in the wake of the Florida School shooting. The School Resource officer on campus the day 17 students and staff were shot to death has resigned. The Broward County sheriff says the armed officer never entered the building where the shooter was spraying bullets. Sheriff scott israel says the officer had only one job. The sheriff says two sheriff what i saw was a deputy arrive at the west side of building 12, take up a position and he never went in. What should he have done . An argument gets out of hand and this evening one man is dead, another in custody. Concord police were called to a home on lodge drive in the meadow lane area after 5 a. M. This morning. Officers found a man not breathing, performed cpr, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was stabbed during an argument with the second man. The suspect was located in pittsburg and arrested for murder, no names released, nor a motive. This is concords first homicide of 2018. In San Francisco an online alert about a man lurking at a popular kids park ended in an arrest. Someone posted this picture on nextdoor saying the man was hanging around the excelsior playground. Yesterday officers got a call that the same man was there staring at children. The adult male was not with was by himself, was not with anyone else. Their investigation we discovered that the adult naturally had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. That warrant was for a theft charge. The man was arrested and ordered to stay away from the playground. Heres something you dont see every day, a coastguard helicopter taking off near the softball field at San Franciscos golden gate park. The chopper had to make an Emergency Landing about 7 45 this morning. It was in the air again by 11 30. Chopper 5 overhead when coastguard had to touch down near seventh and lincoln. Nobody was hurt. A mechanical warning forced the landing, but no other details were released. San francisco is pushing ahead with a plan to make its cable cars cashless in a couple years. It starts this spring at turn arounds that have ticket kiosks. By the end of next year transit officials want to require prepaid fares from every stop.
