Reporter the 26yearold grew up in the east bay and tonight tributes continue to pour in. Right now graduates of the Sacramento Police academy are paying their respects. It is the same academy officer sullivan went to and graduated before starting on the force in sacramento. The officer was shot and killed while helping a woman gather her things from a home last night to leave an abusive relationship. Police took cover as a gunman continue to fire on the men were unable to reach her for nearly an hour. The shoot off continued turning this neighborhood into a battlefield. The standoff went on through the night. The officer later died at the hospital. Reporter there are no words to convey the depth of sadness that we feel or how heartbroken we are for the family of our young brave officer. Around 12 30 this morning a white hearse carrying doctor osullivan left the medical center. First responders trail close behind to pay tribute. He attended college. She graduated from the new program that targets scholars who might be interested in Law Enforcement and gives them the training needed to be out on the street. This all started around noon when a man tried robbing a chevron on west el camino. That led to a foot pursuit through siapartment complex. During the chase the suspect apparently hurt a k9 officer.
