They are a nuisance enjoyed all across the bay area and a lot of places say they are going to have a zero tolerance policy for illegal fireworks, but there is one place where they cannot be more serious about that. Now the governor has issued an emergency proclamation. Almost as bad as the quake . The aftershocks almost too many to count. The latest number is 159. And one expert says the worst could be yet to come. One should always be preparing for a big one. This does not make it less likely. There is about a one in 20 chance that this location will be having an even bigger earthquake with the next few days, that we have not yet seen the biggest earthquake of the sequence. While there has been some damage like this is so far no major injuries. And this flooding also appears in the minutes after the quake but this was in los angeles. 150 miles away, city workers are looking into the possibility that the shaking there broke a water main. Reporter kalen alexander was working in the Small Grocery store when the quake hit just after 10 30. I was cashing a check and the guy grabbed the counter and then i was like everybody out. Reporter the earthquake shook items off the store shelves. The fridges were actually opening up. Everything that was on the shelves came crashing down. Reporter the quakes epicenter was in the Mojave Desert 10 miles northeast of ridgecrest. More than 150 miles away light swayed inside the Television Studio inside los angeles. This man was at the Staples Center in downtown l. A. When the quake hit. And i knew something was up. I am looking around like am i going crazy or something . They were like no, look it up online, there is a big old earthquake that happened. The u. S. Geological survey reported more than 80 aftershocks and counting. Including this one that hit during a news conference. On a geologic timeframe, hundreds of thousands of years, an earthquake like this is just one of many, many, many. Please tell me you guys are feeling this earthquake and im not crazy because it is moving and shaking and wont stop. Reporter people across Southern California captured the shaking on camera and shared pictures on social media. So far there are no reports of serious injuries or major damage. The system worked and said there was an earthquake of about 6. 2 producing energy and the warning it came through. In los angeles there was a 48 second warning the shaking was arriving. The bay area does not have the shakealert system in place just yet. It is still being tested and finalized but today we were told it could be ready by the end of the year. Most of the lots are under some kind of repair and closed off at this point. Much of the island is under repair at this point and theres just not a lot of space on the western side of the island where people do go to watch the fireworks. So dont even try it. A brush fire damage a couple of homes this afternoon in san jose. This happened shortly after 2 00 in the area near communications. Firetrucks about blocks of the northbound lanes, those fires are under control now. No word on whether the fires at the various locations are indeed connected. Will put out surveillance teams whose sole purpose is to observe the fireworks being used because they are tougher to detect and then they will send in marked units and uniforms to issue citations. Reporter unmarked surveillance cars, a hotline to report violators. San bruno police going all out to stop illegal fireworks. Last year they arrested 25 people and seized more than 400 pounds of illegal explosives. Now some fireworks are allowed and sold here, but police say the Community Also once wants to see the rules enforced. For the first time in modern history, anchorage, alaska hit 90 degrees. In anchorage, on the water, alaska it was hotter than concord, hotter than livermore and certainly hotter than san jose. Anchorage was 25 degrees warmer than San Francisco today. Seven cisco 65 degrees. Overnight, mid 50s. 53 and seven cisco, 50 and santa rosa. We have a ridge of High Pressure that is getting closer, just a little too late. Low pressure leaving oregon and exiting to the east just a little too late. If the change is going to happen tomorrow would happen tonight, we would have very little, if any fog and likely beautiful viewing for the fireworks. But it is happening about 12 hours too late. This will move tomorrow and this rate will go closer tomorrow. The marine layer will get compressed and not push as far inland or be as strong of a push from the ocean. All that will be wonderful news if it happened tonight, it is not, i am telling you what will happen tomorrow. Tonight widespread local clouds, but everywhere we are clear and livermore and san jose we are clear. It is the typical spots, the coast, it is the city and anywhere close to San Francisco bay. Already cloudy and will stay cloudy through the morning tomorrow. As the pattern change takes shape we get less cloud coverage and no push on friday night into saturday. And almost the entire weekend, the first half of the weekend will be completely fog and low cloud cover free. With a ridge of High Pressure sing off to our west this is a warm but not hot pattern. A northwest flow of air for most temperatures near normal we get that friday and saturday and then we will cool down a bit on sunday as the onshore breeze its a little stronger. So a cloudy night in the city, go into a meal, here some great sounds and you will see some really cool colored clouds. So many and tomorrow afternoon itll be warmer on saturday. Just hopping about average tomorrow about one or two degrees, oakland 72 that is one degree above average. 80 for sunnyvale. Hayward 77, 85 degrees, still the 60s at the coast. Warmest days are friday and saturday because the onshore breeze get stronger and pushes the cloud cover inland.
