Emotional out here at east san jose. Her aunt and uncle spoke. The executive director here at her old school says they are devastated. She was a smart, beautiful young woman taken too soon. So the family is holding a private public candlelight vigil that is open to the public but closed to the media. Here is the scene earlier today in east san jose. Reporter a steady stream of volunteers, food, drinks, love and tears. The family is devastated, still in shock. Her father locked himself inside a room. She says they are close and the family has lost their angel. We cant believe it. The purest member of the family just passed away. Reporter when the shooting began the family became separated. The family agonized for hours knowing what happened until a 2 30 a. M. Call from the coroners office. I promised i would protect her at any moment. On everything. And the single day that i dont go with her, this has to happen. Just pain. You cant really describe how bad it hurts. Reporter go fund mer page raised 60,000. The support has deeply touched the family. Unbelievable. I am so thankful and i think she deserved it. Reporter and the candlelight vigil is attended by several hundred people. Reporter people were still in shock here in gilroy but today was a day when people started coming out more and more and doing things to make it better. The lemonade stand. A horrible thing happened. And right now we are trying to make it right. Reporter with help from supportive parents the kids set up the stand with lemonade and cookies raising a dollar at a time. We are pretty much raising money to help the victims. Hopefully the victims can get treatment that they need and get back to their lives. Reporter it was a small piece of a larger effort to help victims. The people in gilroy, in this community are strong and resilient. But many could use some help. The District AttorneyVictim Services unit turned the Elementary School into an assistance center. People came to get servings, incluesing counseling, sometimes with the help of facility dogs they can pet. They are bringing great comfort to everyone that is around them. Reporter many people in gilroy are still feeling emotions, sadness, guilt, anger, anxiety, many people that garlic festival at the time of the shooting left behind their belongings. They came back to get their bike. The park is still on lock down as crime scene so they had to walk away. She admitted it felt different. You dont want anything to happen again. Santino William Legan lived in this home in the days before the shooting. They reported finding an assortment of military gear inside, including a gas mask, bulletproof vests and a search of a creek turned up a bag of ammunition. Retrieved video and he was by himself. He was not with anybody else. So that is supporting the thought now that he acted on his own. And developing tonight, the Fairfield Fire Department says two infants have been discovered abandon. Unfortunately one of them has died. The other has been taken to the hospital we are told. This discovery was made after 4 00 p. M. Near a dumpster behind businesses on pittman road. Police now have the area closed off as they continue to investigate. Officers searched the area and found a female and detained her. It is apparented based off her condition she gave birth. The tragedy comes despite californias safe surrender law. It allows parents to surrender newborns within 72 hours of birth and no questions asked. Body camera video shows the time an engineer went on a drug fueled rampage. He took lsd on july 4. Police say it happened during a robbery by these three men at stockton and pacific july 15. 1 09p. M. In the afternoon. Investigators released this Surveillance Video hoping the public can help. Police say the men attacked a 56yearold man, throwing him to the grounds. When another man, a 69yearold man tried to help, they knocked him out cold. The suspects stole a watch from the first victim. Both were treated for head injuries and released from the hospital. This can happen anywhere. I ask people be aware of their surroundings. Reporter they are working with Business Owners who have been reluctant to report crimes. There have been 221 robberies in this district this year. 14 have been in china town. Seven of those were cell phone robberies. So doesnt occur very often. But i think it is also because of the nature of the incidents. Lot more of it spilled than previously thought. Authorities say a trucker failed to get around a tight corner on sunday. The tanker slid down into the creek bed. Officials thought 250 gallons seeped out. It was actually 10 times that amount. The truck is gone but now the gas is soaked into the soil. Private companies are beginning to remove as much of it as possible. We estimate based off of the amount of difference, they estimate 2100 gallons total was released.
