This morning crews are making progress on the socalled mountain fire burning in shasta county. The blaze began about noon yesterday. Cal fire says at least 600 acres have burned and the fire is now 20 contained. At least one structure is destroyed. About 11 other homes and buildings are considered threatened. Many are under a mandatory evacuation. A stretch of highway 299 has been reopened but several other roads in the area remain closed. Its not clear how the fire began and crews are still working the fire line this morning. Wild fires continue to rip through brazils amazon rain forest.
