Neighbors got together, to have the large rocks put on the sidewalk, two weeks ago. To prevent drug dealing, and homeless encampments, near market and dolores. But as kpix 5s Katie Nielsen reports, the massive rocks keep ending up on the street, and now the city is caught between a rock and a hard place. Reporter this is the boulder battleground, these dozen massive rocks shoved into the streets, sometime overnight, in an apparent protest. This all started two weeks ago, when some neighbors got together to put the rocks on the sidewalk, to deter homeless encampments. And the open use, and sale of drugs. Since then, it has been nothing but a battle, people keep pushing the rocks into the street, and crews from San Franciscos department of public works keep putting them back on the sidewalk, most recently, yesterday afternoon. And today, they are back in the red. This cycle has actually happened three times in the past week. But, neighbors are now divided on whether there massive boulders are the right answer to San Franciscos homeless crisis. Others say they are just fed up with the citys lack of action. There is frequently tense, people sleeping, people taking drugs. I have seen people should appear, and i am just trying to walked on the street with my dog. So i completely understood why whoever plays the rocks here what their motivation was. I think it is incredible how all blocks the neighborhoods and neighbors can pull together, and spend so much effort, time and money into something that doesnt seem the most positive, or productive into the problem they are trying to solve. Reporter wesley spent hours this afternoon, writing messages of love and sidewalk chalk, right near the entrance to the clinton park alley, just the few yards the boulders. He said he wants to encourage dialogue between neighbors, and has been amazed at how much motion the rocks generated on both sides. The spokesperson with San Franciscos department of public works said they did send crews out this morning to put up the cones, and caution tape around the boulders, that are in the street. But they do not have any plans currently to put them back on the sidewalks, instead they say they are looking at all options, and will continue to work with, and support the neighbors. Right appear, through the northern fringes of Sonoma County, so just north of hillsboro. We have a rainmaker moving across, and now, the focus is pretty much out here in the hills of the coast range, really unpopulated out here, that is where the new National Monument is. The Sonoma MountainNational Monument, nobody is noticing much rain there. However, if we look at the details little more closely, diego bay, we have got a good little cell, right overhead now, and this fits the description perfectly, most of us wont see much rain. But these isolated showers, if you happen to get one, right over you, like what diego bay has got kindest mainly over the water at this point. That is a good little bit of rain. Maybe even some thunder, mixed in with that could we see those isolated like that, we know the storm has the potential to produce some fairly strong cells. Just not a threat of Severe Weather for that. But a bit of a downpour. Look at how large the storm is, we are waiting for this last little southern edge to move through, so was we put it into the future cast, the real focus for the rest of tonight, into sierra. And if we look at where the rainfall is going to accumulate, you can see the numbers here. For much of the bay area. I mean, they didnt. All right, which weather advisory, into sierra, stays in effect until 5 00 tomorrow evening. Several more inches of snow are going to fall on i80. And highway 50, big travel routes.
