Adam they went back and forth. For georgia, where did the dogs go from here to be the team that can win this . Brian weve been talking about this offense all year, its been kind of stale. So they have to get this thing up so much. They had Justin Fields, maybe they were looking for the future, they need to go back and revisit that. Adam one school of thought as it was attrition. The other school of thought is hes got to catch up. An unbelievable rise of offense in the bayou. Does kirby smart have to follow suit customer Justin Fields out the door. Live from the cbs bay area studios, this is kpix 5 news. The latest storm ramping up wreaking havoc all over the bay area. Wild weather caused accidents today, sentries toppling over. That is not all. Where people are cleaning up tonight after the heavy rain flooded their neighborhood. And thanks for joining us, i am juliette goodrich. I am brian hackney. The rain and wind causing problems across the bay area. A tree took out some utility lines as it came crashing down, no one hurt. A couple pedestrians in San Francisco not so lucky when the tree toppled over, and it happened at clay street, a man and woman injured and expected to be okay. Drivers that with dangerous conditions on highway 24 in lafayette. This is what triggered it, the storm off of the Northern California shoreline is sending a front through the south bay. As a result, showers and thunderstorms tonight, most of the action from the east bay shoreline right through livermore and pleasanton and toward the shoreline, the northbay not so much, not now. Most of the action south of the golden gate, look at that, moderate to heavy rain coming down on the east bay shoreline and the trivalley area. And the Santa Cruz Mountains as well. 24 hour rainfall totals, as much as 6 inches. Inch and a half in santa rosa and three inches in the Santa Cruz Mountains. We will cover that in the forecast. We will go to betty yu, she is live waiting patiently in the rain work torrential rain left some residents kneedeep in floodwater earlier today. Reporter thats right. Much of the water has receded, so many residents right now are looking at extensive damage to their homes. Right now, look at this street, a lot of this community is in cleanup mode, trying to clear all the debris, foliage, dirt that came rushing down this street earlier today, this is what 15th avenue looked like, more like a river. The water was thighhigh for some folks. The San FranciscoFire Department did respond to the scene to clear the gutters, this will be a long road for many of these residents. We spoke to a gentleman a few moments ago, take a listen. It started pouring really hard 45 minutes, little by little, the bottom part of the home, it started gushing in, there was no controlling it. We had sandbags for the rainy season, it does not do enough. The gutters end up getting clogged and it is a mess. Reporter he is not alone, right now several residents tell me garages and bottom floors are completely flooded. One man said his car is no longer drivablethe cameup so high, it was parked here on the street. As mentioned, this area sits at the bottom of four hills, especially at the beginning of the rainy season, when it rains particularly hard, this is the result. The weather is also affecting muni service, they are experiencing a power outage at the forest hills station, they are providing bus shuttles from the west portal to castro station for riders. Unfortunately, this is not the first time many of these longtime residents are dealing with this kind of damage. We will hear from some of them at 6 00. Live in west portal, betty yu with kpix 5. Thank you. Lets go to the east bay now with da lin. We are next to highway 24. Reporter the downpour started coming down at 3 00, relentless for about two hours, a little break right now, sprinkling right now. But the damage is done, quite a few accidents on the east bay. A driver unconscious after his car spun out and hit the center median. A Good Samaritan stopped and help before police got there. This happened just before 2 00 on highway 24 near the on ramp in orinda. They believe speed and Rainy Weather played a factor. They say the driver should survive his injuries. It is one of many accidents that plagued east bay freeways this afternoon the chp said some drivers are going way too fast in the rain. The weather trouble extends well beyond the freeways. There are reports of downed trees in the east bay. We found this crew cutting four large eucalyptus trees in orinda. The homeowner wants to remove the tree spearing to fall on his house. They are pretty big, the wind shaking them around pretty good, eucalyptus soaks up a lot of water, when you get it out before they get heavier. Reporter around this time of year, tree cutting companies are busy either removing dead trees or removing trees that have already fallen down. Everything is nice and slippery, pretty dangerous out here, working with the crew to get them out as quickly as possible, we dont want accidents happening today. Reporter you have heard this many times, it is worth repeating given day amount of accidents, slow down when driving in the rain. It is not just all bad news when theres a major storm here. One fire crews arrived to the scene this morning, they found smoke pouring out of the building on 39th avenue and foothill boulevard. Crews quickly got the flames under control. No one was hurt. In this story, you had to be brave to plunge into the bay this morning, dozens did that for a Makeawish Foundation annual brave the bay fundraiser. It took place at San Francisco aquatic park bright and early at 8 am. Participants could do the plunge, run a 5k or pull a cable car 200 feet. San Francisco Police officers also braved the bay. Funds raised from todays event towards granting the wishes of children living with critical illnesses. Hats off to all of them. Wonderful. We get you uptodate what is happening now with the doppler radar, activity moving to the south bay, not south and out. We have lingering showers in the forecast until midday tomorrow, it will ease up tonight. If youre in the south bay, youre getting pounded. The northbay, revisit this quickly, another wave of showers begins to move in from inverness along 101. It will move south. Livermore almost the bullseye of the action moving through, san jose will get moderate to pretty good rainfall, even the peninsula gets a break, that moving through the Santa Cruz Mountains, they could pick up another inch of rain before midnight tonight. Here are the totals so far, we will add to this because a lot coming down in the south bay into fremont, quarter of an in san jose. Ain view and. 014 livermore1 5 inches. Santa rosa 1. 8 inches and napa with half an inch, that is at the airport, downtown could have got more. Flood watch is posted through 10 00 tonight. We have not heard reports of landslides, that is the concern and in general, the rain easing up, low pressure twisting up mendocino is sending the brunt of the rain to the south bay, followed by unstable air which will add to ring totals between now and tomorrow night at this time. Another halfinch along the peninsula of the northbay, 2 inches in the Santa Cruz Mountains, not the valley. Winter storm warnings posted through noon tomorrow, 123 feet above 7000 feet. Look at the peak winds, up to 110 miles an hour. Future cast shows we go to on again off again shower activity until midday and then we get a break and the sun will come out afternoon tomorrow. The future cast for the snow shows a foot of snow in the next 48 hours and some of the lower elevations, tonight chance of showers and thunderstorms, if you showers on sunday and it eases up in the afternoon. The week ahead looks high and dry. Tomorrow, the numbers near 60 degrees and the extended forecast, we go with a chance midday tomorrow and on monday through saturday, we finally get a chance to take a break. Speaking of brakes, here is an example. That is a beautiful sight. Onto the flames from the kincade fire, they are long gone but still causing more problems for northbay residents. The National Weather service has extended a Flash Flood Watch for the burn area, warning residents heavy rains could cause rockslides, mudslides and flash flooding. Erosion from the 77,000 acre fire could create a dangerous situation. Ash left behind from the flames is at risk of polluting waterways. Storms walloping the high sierras, that is what it looked like at various spots along 80 and highway 50, chain control in effect this weekend.
