Some south bay parents holding a rally right now demanding greater accountability amongst school leadership. We go to East San Jose where parents are demanding some term limits. Reporter that is right, about a dozen or more parents are inside the School District headquarters right now at the board meeting, they are demanding those term limits so that Board Members can no longer be entrenched in office for 20 years or more. Parents and students rallied outside tonights School Board Meeting calling for term limits that would not allow Board Members to stay in office beyond two fouryear terms. Led by the community group, parents are presenting the board with a petition containing 500 signatures demanding the board of trustees approved a measure to place term limits on the november 2020 ballot. Term limits would stop the corruption because there has been a history of some Board Members who have made a career out of this and they have made some very poor choices for our district. Reporter the majority of the current board of trustees ran on a platform of transparency and good governance, the Allen Community has endured decades of scandals and mismanagement including trustees who have served for two decades. Last year judge issued a restraining order against the former trustee for threatening the superintendent with violence. Earlier this year a state audit concluded previous boards violated district policies and state law on issues ranging from Construction Projects to skipping meetings and not showing up for votes. We need new leaders with new ideas and things are running better with the new ward. We want to continue to bring leadership that cares about our kids education. Reporter nothing will be decided tonight, the board will be presented with those 500 signatures and they will put this on an agenda for early next year sometime in february and if that passes it could be on the November Ballot in 2020. San francisco has a new tool to get more people with addiction problems to use the drug treatment beds. This morning out of about 500 beds, more than 120 were empty. The city is saying it knows the new website will not solve the challenge of filling these beds but it hopes it will add more transparency and awareness to the system. Its been a tough year for the richmond Fire Departments annual holiday toy drive. This could be the first year ever that the drive will not be able to donate to each family that has made a request. Reporter with less than two weeks left before christmas, the Richmond Fire Department says they have a problem and they want your help. This is where the Richmond Fire Department stores all of the toys they give away during their annual Christmas Toy giveaway. Typically about this time of year our shelves are overflowing and our barrels are overflowing with toys from donations from all of our citizens and community members. Then those pilfered goods were flipped at bart stations for cash and the stolen goods were transported to another site. From there, barcodes would be scratched off. Many of the phones recovered were wrapped in aluminum foil in a bid to avoid detection. There are other signs from this operation that show its a sophisticated approach that includes there was an electronic top chop shop where computers, electronics and smart phones were taken and disassembled for parts and sold on the internet and then they were shipped and thats how this crew got busted. The suspected fencing operation, actually one of the ways we confirm they might be doing something was the number of packages that were coming from this location and going out of state.
