Reporter juliet, the police chief says the officers opened fire on a young man who was riding the train, suspected of domestic violence. Police say it started with a domestic disturbance on board this train, an argument between a man and woman. The Police Dispatcher protocol at on the radio. He was standing over her, he cursed at her. The police chief says officers arrived with guns drawn and confronted the suspect but then he took off. The chase proceeded onto the tracks where shots were fired. All you heard was about six or seven shots. 78 times. You could smell the gunpowder it was horrible. They didnt have to do that to him. The young man jumped out of the tracks and kept running and was asked to stop but chose not to. What do you think about all of this . You know what i i appreciate what are Police Departments do it. I just saw my angle but i dont know what went down prior to that. Is it possible he pulled his weapon and that they were reacting to that . He was on the train with his girlfriend, they were riding the train like everyone else. You could clearly see he wasnt trying to pull out a weapon or anything. As he was running from the police he was holding onto his pants. He knows when he jumped into the tracks it may have come out of his pocket thats when they started shooting. A gun was produced by the suspect. Our officers ultimately shot and recovered a gun. The suspect has been transported to the hospital with lifethreatening injuries. The police chief ed alvarez said officers shot him after he produced a weapon but the chief says hes not ready to elaborate on whether the suspect pointed the gun in a threatening manner. We are in the process of recovering video from our station, trains, and body cameras from both officers that were on the scene involved. At this point we know that a gun was involved. Watching the video, we will verify this information. Reporter they are still interviewing the young woman, the female companion to the man who was shot. She was heard by several witnesses yelling out that he was only 17 years old. Heart hasnt confirmed his age. It was filed by seven African American men who claimed that they were racially targeted during a sting operation intended to arrest drug dealers near schools they were arrested as part of sweeps in 2013 and 2014. After more than 15 years one man has been arrested in connection with the case in Mountain View. Van overton junior was arrested in new mexico and then extradited earlier this week. Hesus of sexually assaulting a woman at a Mountain View motel in 2004. Hes also connected to another case that happened in albuquerque in 1997. The kid was never tested until late last year when detectives found a match. They discovered there had been a hit on that case of another assaulted 2004 in california. They zeroed in on him and got his dna and it matched exactly with these two. Hes being held without bail and detective say there might be additional victims. Police are investigating a shooting that left a 21year old man dead last night at Woodland Hills park. Officers arrived and found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds. Police say the suspect got away in a compact car. A live look out of the San Francisco bay, violence broke out near the popular pier 39 this morning into seemingly random attacks only minutes apart. We have details on the frightening series of events and questions facing the police. Reporter the attacks happened minutes apart before sunrise this morning along the normally busy and generally safe area. Investigators say the the attacks appear unprovoked. The first victim was jogging when she was stabbed. It was terribly shocking. I know people who jog here and i walk here frequently and i consider this safe so my gut reaction is, i cant believe it. Reporter the second victim was attacked 15 minutes later a short distance away. This is her being loaded into the back of the ambulance with what appears to be a makeshift bandage wrapped around her head. Im just incredulous you know because not only do i walk this area of the Farmers Market but this is part of my regular walk. San Francisco Police arrested this man for these attacks and have not released his name or have given any hint for a possible motive for why these women were assaulted. This area is easily one of the most welltraveled streets in all of San Francisco, popular with tourists and locals alike. It concluded he has a Mental Illness that isnt being treated. The latest a delay in the case that sparked a National Debate over sanctuary cities. An undocumented immigrant says that the shooting on pier 14 was an accident. His Attorney Says his client is competent and plans to contest these findings. San francisco has been chosen for controversial plan to crack down on sanctuary cities. Common security plans to deploy specialized Border Patrol agents here and other cities around the country. The goal is to help ice arrest undocumented immigrants. The plan is kicking immigrants activists rights into high gear.
