With little rain so far in february, the federal Drought Monitor says 59 of california is experiencing abnormally dry conditions. A comparison of maps from december and this week shows the areas of dryness expanding dramatically. Lets get a check the no rain in the forecast today either. No. And the way it looks, not for the rest of if he can february. Lote let me follow up on that story from the Drought Monitor and update you where rainfall totals sit for the season as a whole. We are not just talking about no rain in february, here. We are talking about the grand total. For this years rainfall season, which started back on october 1st. And in santa rosa, 61 of average so far. Thats the best number i will have. Because for San Francisco, at almost 9 inches of rain since i would started the season in october, thats only half of what we should have gotten so far. We did most of this in december and february has not added any of this. San jose is only gotten 37 of what we should have had. And in livermore, just under 3 inches. And thats only 26 of the amount of rainfall we should have had. The more important number is where the snow stands in the sierra. Lets look over there. And unfortunately, the story is not any better. We break it up into northern, central and southern sierra. But if you want an average for the sierra as a whole, we are sitting just at about half of what we should have there. And thats a measurement of how much water content is being stored in the snow. We dont measure the depth of the snow. We are concerned with how much water is being stored in it. And we have only got half of what we want. For this time of year. And theres no more coming at least for the next week and a half. Pretty start to the day out there. So lets change gears and talk about whats going to be a pretty nice sun out there for you if you are making plans to get outside. We dont have issues with visibility down in the south bay. But we did in the north bay. Santa rosa has visibility down to a quarter of a mile visibility and its windy out there in places. Just not where we have the fog. So, thats part of the reason. Its calm in santa rosa right now. And thats why the fog has been able to develop. Look at whats going down for the city and east bay. Theres a 22mileanhour wind in oakland. And its gusting to 2 2 miles an hour in the coast and east bay hills. And thats ushering in not only relatively cool air in the immediate bay. Its also bringing in the mid level clouds we saw from the camera on top of the sales force tower. It will give us a pretty sunrise. But it makes for another patchy cloudy day. It shouldnt be as gray as yesterday was. And as we watched the futurecast on this, the clouds will melt back so by the time we get into the afternoon. While there are still some left, if you had mostly gray day yesterday, and so many of us right in and around the immediate bay did. For saturday, we should see more blue sky today on sunday. And daytime highs will come in where they were. Which is pretty much close to average for this time year. Although if you are inland, it will be a bit warmer than average. The real warmup happens by early this week. Tuesday and wednesday. Daytime highs getting near 80 for inland spots and staying in the low 70s through the bay. A nice looking week. But we need rain and there is not any in this one. Devin back over to you. A uc davis vet is back from australia where she helped dozens of animalinjured duriu. S.
