Reporter Officials Say the patient was active here in Solano County and was in the hospital for some time before being diagnosed by the coronavirus. Now theyre having to track down everybody she came into contact with. Officials say it could be dozens but less than 100. This particular case could be the first possible instance of Community Transmission of covid19 in the united states. Reporter health Officials Say the patient was admitted to north bay Vaca Valley Hospital on the 15th with flulike symptoms, but it was days before she would be tested for the coronavirus because she had not traveled to a virus hotspot or had close contact with anyone who did, the criteria for testing. Her health continued to decline. She was transferred to Uc Davis Medical Center four days later. They tested her and she came back positive. We have identified family members of this individual and they are in isolation pending testing. Theyll remain in quarantine for 14 Days Since Last exposure to the patient. The patients workplace has been fully addressed as well. Reporter many here wonder did the womans case have anything to do with the fact that the military is housing hundreds of coronavirus patients, evacuees from overseas, at nearby Travis Air Force base . We have no evidence if there is any connection with those patients and this individual at this time. Reporter officials are working to track down everyone who came into contact with the woman including every single Healthcare Worker at both hospitals who treated her. Nothing so far has surprised us, nothing. What happened in Solano County reporter Governor Newsom is urging calm as officials acknowledge the state is running low on test kits. A violent crash has killed an 11yearold boy in antioch. It happened before 7 00 this evening on lone tree way near deer valley high school. Antioch police say the boy tried to run across the road and was hit. The impact threw him more than 30 yards and he died at the scene. The driver in a white camaro was taken to the hospital after suffering minor injuries from an air bag that deployed. A stretch of lone tree way is still shut down while officers investigate. Tonight oakland Police Commissioners met for the First Time Since firing chief Anne Kirkpatrick. Kpix5s Andrea Nakano says the commission got an earful from both sides. Reporter the firing of Anne Kirkpatrick wasnt an item on the agenda, but it was the topic the community wanted to address. Even the Commission Chair strongly criticized the former chief for the way she left the city of oakland. The police chief had to go. I would like to see a department that starts following the rules, that stops lying to the public, that actually protects the interest and the wellbeing of the community. Reporter those who backed the commissions decision say their biggest gripe was the lack of fair policing. My mom lives in east oakland and ive been a resident of the city for over 57 years. The policing that is going on in her neighborhood is different than the policing that goes on in montclair. Reporter after her firing kirkpatrick criticized the power the Police Commission holds and the way she was fired without cause. Tonight the commission fired back. Kirkpatricks recent media games to try to attack the mayor or discredit this commission only reinforce that we made the right decision. Reporter this week roughly 200 Police Officers gathered at the police Union Headquarters to say goodbye to their chief for three years. Maria pinkosof, a paramedic, worries what kirkpatricks departure will mean for the department. The morale while she was their leader was wonderful. They had a chief they could look up to and trusted and felt like their chief had their back. The morale has dipped. A lot of people are talking about leaving. Reporter some question who is holding the commission made up of citizen volunteers accountable for their actions. Also tonight opd has temporarily tweaked its new use of force policy, specifically a section requiring expanded Data Collection and written reporting requirements. The Department Says its too labor intensive causing a backlog of calls for service, so its on hold. Opd says in a statement, the policy will be revisited to meet the departments intended goal of robust and transparent data gathering in the documentation of uses of force. Tonight a suspect is under arrest in connection with the disturbing attack on an elderly man collecting recyclables. 20yearold Dwayne Grayson is facing elder abuse, robbery and hate crime charges. Police say grayson recorded and posted the video of the attack that has since gone viral. It shows the asian man getting robbed of his cans, struck on the head and taunted with racial slurs. A community rally was held today near the scene in bayview. Police are still looking for a second suspect. In the meantime were hearing from the victim of a violent purse snatching caught on camera in San Francisco. Surveillance video shows the woman being dragged as two men try to steal her purse just outside the stockton street tunnel. We spoke to the victim via a cantonese translator. Translator he took my bag and then i tried to protect my bag. So thats why i hold it, but then he continued to drag and then i fell down and he dragged me through the tunnel. The suspects took off in a car with her purse. The victim is a hairstylist in chinatown. They says she doesnt feel safe walking anymore and will never walk in that tunnel again. Dna just cracked a bay area cold case nearly half a century old. Naomi sanders was found sexual assaulted and strangled in her vallejo apartment in 1973. In 2014 detectives were able to recover dna from her clothing. Then last year a genealogy database turned up a family match to robert dale edwards. Edwards died in 1993.
