Im elizabeth cook. We begin with breaking news out of san jose. Confirmed cases of the coronavirus among workers at Mineta International airport. The tsa confirms three of its Security Officers have tested positive for the coronavirus. Those are the uniformed officers who conduct screening at Security Check points. In a statement tonight, the agency says the officers are receiving medical care and all tsa employees they have come in contact with over the past 14 days are quarantined at home. Screening check points remain open. We asked if any passengers might be at risk. The airport referred us to the tsa and the tsa said they were working with state and local officials to ensure the safety of the public but would not go into any more detail. Meanwhile, chase center and the warriors welcoming fans to tonights game despite San Franciscos recommendations against holding large gatherings. Kpix5 reporter betty yu explains why things might look very different at the next game on thursday. Reporter tonight, the show went on at chase center but the team says that tomorrow warriors president has scheduled a meeting with the mayor in an effort to find a collaborative solution. Tonight the warriors welcomed fans to the game against the clippers at chase center with usual pomp and circumstance. And if they didnt, it was only a matter of time until the city issues emergency directives that would encompasses not only city buildings but private facilities like chase center and i think they are come around to that. Reporter a legal order would have to come from San Franciscos chief health officer. We really try to do the least restrictive measure that is going to control a communicable disease. And we try to balance the trade offs between restrictions of individuals and then protecting the communities. Reporter in Santa Clara County, the San Jose Sharks have not said if they will play without fans or move games to a different site. Meanwhile, baseball season starts in two weeks. That is after a student tested positive for coronavirus. The closures will start march 12, last until march 25 including school buildings, classrooms, and student related in activities in San Francisco, san mateo, and marin counties. Now the latest on the grand princess cruise ship docked at the port of oakland. Passengers still have to be quarantined before they get to go home and some will be taken to bay area hotels. But this cruise ship is not cleared by any means and tonight, a new case of the coronavirus from the first leg of this grand princess cruise ship where passengers got off on february 21st. How does it feel to finally be back on land . Very nice. Very, very nice. Reporter Maureen James spent the last 19 days on board the grand princess. She is now off the ship and in quarantine at Travis Air Force base. You were given a choice whether or not to take that coronavirus test . Apparently, thats what they are saying we are going to be. And will you take the test if they offer it to you . Absolutely. Absolutely. Were you kind of surprised you had a choice . I was. I was. Because i think everybody that has been exposed should take it. Reporter james received this letter in the morning detailing the next steps. On the second page, passengers were given a choice to test for the virus. If positive, they would be quarantined until they were no longer a risk to the public. But why the choice for passengers on a coronavirus stricken ship . We dont have enough testing capacity. Both the Public Health labs and commercial labs are getting up and running as we speak. I think we will have more lab testing capability as a state and nation in the future. But right now, there are not unlimited tests to do testing. Reporter but just today, a third Alameda County resident has tested positive for the coronavirus. The third is an elderly individual who took a cruise to mexico on the same exact grand princess cruise ship and got off on february 21st. The second case was that persons spouse who was also on the ship. Now, as for the couple, one is isolating at home. And the other with underlying medical conditions is at an Alameda County hospital. The other involved a health care worker. In oakland, Andrea Nakano, kpix5. Tonight, we are also learning an Alameda County firefighter has tested positive for the coronavirus. Officials say they do not live in Alameda County. They are now reaching out to anyone who came into contact and tonight, Contra Costa County is joining the growing call to postpone or cancel large events after confirming its tenth case of coronavirus. We believe covid19 is circulating in our community. Given the level of coronavirus in our community, contra costa is shifting from containment to mitigation. And Santa Clara County has taken its own mitigation effort a step further tonight, ordering at outright ban on all Public Events of more than a thousand people. But at this point, there are no plans to close the schools. While many businesses and schools are taking extra precautions to keep people safe from the virus, one upscale restaurant is going the extra mile to keep guests comfortable. It looks impressive but we have not really recorded much rain. So most likely, if we are getting this, its a light sprinkle. That will continue tomorrow. Watch what happens when we switch from highdef doppler, put it in futurecast. Same story. Showers just keeping pushed into the south bay. We keep the clouds pretty much that line right there. From like the city south ward. We notice the clouds tomorrow. North bay will have plenty of sunshine tomorrow. It looks like we are in a holding pattern. Tomorrow is just like today. If you look at the total, it comes to a hundredth of an inch. Lets see how this is playing out and when it changes. Theres the storm responsible. That thing gets pushed out of here. By friday and it makes way for the next storm. A much more impressive one that will be able to bring rain bay area wide. Watch what happens as we get not so much friday, but saturday. Second half of the day saturday, and through sunday, a widespread rainmaker for the entire bay area. Its not going to be heavy. But we could pick up a quarter inch of rain out of this system.
