This is from people who need care but also need to be kept away from hospitals that are filled with coronavirus patients. Reporter the Santa Clara Convention center normally hosting a lot of hightech business meetings and things like that but now for the foreseeable future it will be a hospital were many covid19 will be sent while they recover. 250 hospital costs are being prepared inside of the Santa Clara Convention centers main hall, its part of the plan to handle the unexpected onslaught of patients suffering from covid19. We will separate the males and females, adults only. Reporter the Santa Clara County hospital search planner working with the office of Emergency Services and California International guards 146th airlift wing out of the channel islands. They are setting up what is basically a mash type unit for less severe and recovering patients who may be homeless or do not have a safe place to stay until they get better. The mission of this medical have the capacity to take care of our sickest patients. Major medical centers and hospitals have geared upper weeks to handle their own expected surge of critical cases with specialized equipment like ventilators. This unit wont have that level of acute care. The patients who are covid 19 positive but are well enough to leave the hospital but dont have an otherwise safe place to return could come here. Reporter the unit will be staffed with a volunteer corps of nurses, doctors, and paramedics as well as Mental Health and social workers. The patients who, likely settle infra lengthy stay.
