It reportedly all started with the discovery of an assault victim, and that sparked a chase through the east bay. It came to an end in richmond. At one point tonight, t were dozens of police cars here. Helicopters were flying around. There was a high speed chase. This is a rather bizarre crime that ended here in richmond at 37th and cutting. According to the east bay times, this whole ordeal started when police found a woman, unconscious and bloody, after having been beaten. She was rushed to the hospital. Witnesses gave police a description of a white van. Officers spotted that van on the highway, and that led to the police chase, the high speed chase, that went nearly 20 miles and ended in richmond. Witnesses heard gunshots and also saw an officer injured, but its unclear how he was hurt. It was like back and forth. There was no pauses in between. It was clearly back and forth. It looked like he was injured. He was limping, grabbing his leg. They put him in the ambulance. It happened so fast. Cops were flying left and right. Reporter and police took one suspect into custody. Weve reached out to the Richmond Police department, to the Oakland Police department. No word, no official word on what happened here.
