Just the gunshots and seeing my uncle not posing a real threat and him still being shot and he couldve died. Reporter Police Released officers chest cam videos and said the man had a knife in his right hand. They say he was combative and aggressive toward the officers. Neighbors who witnessed the shooting believe the officers acted cool quickly. I heard tasers and go off and bullets go off at the same time and i feel like they didnt give the taser enough time. The second oriented officer is angled directly in a line with the subject so its just a perception of what they perceive is danger. Reporter after police shot him, the man got up, was responsive, and talk to the officers. Police responded to the mans house after he and another man got into an argument paid he admitted to retrieving the knife and lunching at the officers with a knife and he apologized and said basically it was his fault. Reporter the police chief says he is now locked up at santa rita jail. N people marched to akla downtown. The demonstration is an act of solidarity with protesters in minnesota, demanding justice for 56yearold george floyd. Getting word of a larger protest planned for tomorrow. This was the scene in minneapolis to last night, there were riots, looting, and businesses burned over floyd staff, video shows a Police Officer with his knee on the back of floyds neck while he pleaded, i cant breathe. Four officers have been hired and late today, the police chief apologized. The Justice Department and the fbi are now investigating. Our role in this investigation is to investigate allegations of willful violations of federal civil rights. The fbi team is following the path where the facts will lead us. This is alive look at the streets of minneapolis right now, huge fires going on amid the protest and looting going on over the past couple of days. Right now youre looking at alive picture of what looks to be a warehouse that has caught fire, its unclear how the fire started but you can see a lot of cars in the area and Police Officers in the area and again, there have been many protests over mr. Floyd staff in the past couple of days. We will watch that story, the other big story tonight, San Francisco announcing a big timeline to get the city up and running and that includes pro sports. Reporter masks are no longer just for trips to the Grocery Store and to get takeout. San franciscans need to wear them at all times when they are outside their homes. The timeline to get San Francisco back to some sense of normalcy starts june 1 with childcare, botanical gardens, and outdoor museums, they are all once again ago in the city and county of San Francisco, but with listening comes an increase call for mask wearing. Six feet is now out the window. If you are within 30 feet of someone else, to wear a face covering. Reporter two weeks later on june 15, retail shops can move from just Curbside Pickup to indoor shopping, religious services, housekeepers, summer camps, and Outdoor Dining will have the green light to fire up once again. San franciscos grant avenue is set to close to traffic and allow restaurants to move tables onto the street. The owner of this restaurant hopes is enough. I think anything right now will help a little bit. If we are not able to do indoor dining, im not sure the Outdoor Dining will be nearly enough to keep us afloat. Reporter on july 13, your haircut can finally happen with barbershops and salons given the goahead along with the real estate open houses and indoor dining. Well restaurants will get to move tables onto the street and open in mid june, just a few doors down, this bar will have to wait until mid august when schools, bars, and nail salons, gyms, playgrounds and indoor museums can finally open their doors to the public. Its good that weve got a date, its something to look forward to. It still puts us a month behind and its definitely problematic. Thats an extra month that will put us in the hole. Were hoping that can change. Reporter back out here live, we expect that these are just guidelines at this point, they said they could toggle forward or toggle back depending on how virus conditions are in the city and county of San Francisco. Sports in San Francisco will be back in action soon, our sports director is here and fans could not be happier about this. Thats true. We dont know if baseball will be back in 2020, but we do know this, gavin newsom and london breed will not stand in the way. They made that clear today. Phase 2b will allow the giants return to oracle park on june 15 without fans. That timeline fits into Major League Baseballs proposal for the beginning of spring training 2. 0 and then the start of an 82 game season in july. But the league and the Players Association are at odds over the proposal and right now there is no deal to return. I cant wait for giants baseball to be back. Youre not going to find me in the stands right now, i think people are too careless and they take this covid19 as a joke. Alameda county has yet to release specific details to give the a is the green light, meanwhile the Texas Governor is saying that fans can attend Outdoor Events beginning next month at 25 percent capacity. So its slowly coming back. The big problem with baseball relates to the money. A lot of issues they have to iron out. Thank you. Coming up next, President Trumps crackdown on twitter. Will the dramatic move he made today change anything for the social media giant . Unfortunately its a perfect storm, i would not be surprised if this number actually gets even deeper. The bay area county thats looking at steep cuts to Public Safety due to the pandemic. Another Northern California county directly defying the governors orders, everything is now back open. I think theres a lot of concern and a lot of stress. The inland heatwave is finally coming to an end, you are looking toward the golden gate, its in there, the marine layer of fog and low cloud cover streaming through and cooler temperatures for inland locations tomorrow. We will track that and weekend rain chances coming up your more 2020 graduates to honor tonight, Brooklyn Wilson has just finished up a quick Gateway Middle School in San Francisco and will be moving on to gateway high school. Amaya and berg is graduating from San Lorenzo High School and will be going to Southern California to Glendale Community college. Congratulations and good luck. Share your graduate photos with us, email 2020grads cbs. Com or use the hashtag kpix, no professional p san jose could be facing deep thought cuts to its coronavirus pandemic. Theres a proposal to slash 10 million, impose a hiring freeze for Police Officers and firefighters and postpone the opening of a new firehouse in willow glen. Everyone agrees it would be a huge setback for san jose. Unfortunately its a perfect storm, a lot of tax revenue comes in from sales tax and property taxes and a lot of these other business fees and as long as the business fees are not there, then we will have reduced budgets. Making the wrong decisions in this budget time and this budget crisis could bring us back to those days that we can answer 911 calls in the for sufficient way. The mayor warns that things could get worse if more businesses fail and tax revenue declined even further. A live lookover downtown san jose right now and you can see it looks pretty nice, clear weather again tonight with temperatures on the way down and our chief meteorologist is here. The temperatures are beginning to decrease a bit and a lot of people are saying thank you. My airconditioners definitely saying thank you, that thing has been running full tilt for the past several days. Still warm to even hot inland today but thats the last day of the heatwave. The storm system that still of the coast will be swinging toward us and bringing substantial changes, a cooldown tomorrow with more clouds, a stronger onshore breeze and rain returns to the forecast on saturday, not exactly normal for late may but its a good chance of rain overall, and 80 percent chance you pick up a chance of rain fall. The better chance of picking up a little more rain in the santa cruz mountains, but most of the bay area we are talking about less than intent of an inch of total rainfall. A little more for the northbay between the 10th of an inch and a quarter inch hand when we go farther north in the north bay especially the coastal mountains, more than a quarter inch of total rainfall, could start as early as midnight tomorrow night and should be wrapping up by the time the sun goes down on saturday. A lot of low cloud cover and fogs looking live from the clubhouse, you can see all of the fog along the coast, its over the city as well, only 56 degrees right now, the temperature is 86 degrees in concord so its all or nothing for those temperatures for most of us. San jose is in the nice middle ground at 75 degrees and 70 in santa rosa. Temperatures will start off in the 50s to around 60 degrees tomorrow morning. Its going to be a stronger onshore breeze but its going to be shifting a bit to the south and southwest and that means in San Francisco the temperatures have a chance to ua little more than they did today. Were starting off with low cloud cover and fogs spilling inland but that will dissipate and will see a mix of clouds and sunshine in the afternoon, some of the warmest inland spot still touching 80 degrees but the cooler air will make its way into the northbay especially the valleys of the northbay and even san jose will back down into the upper 70s and then everyones temperature will start dropping off as we go through tomorrow evening. The best chance of rain on saturday does correspond with our coolest temperatures and we could even hear a few rumbles of thunder especially from the golden gate northward as we go through about mid to late morning on saturday. We dont want any cloud to ground lightning strikes with the recent stretch of dry, hot weather, if theres any lightning and thunder we hope its accompanied by a downpour to put down any sparks that might fire up. This evening we will have fog then rain and i will have an updated look at future cash tracking the rain saturday coming up at 11 00. Heres a look at your top national headlines, President Trump targeting social media tonight days after twitter posted a fact check of his tweets. The president signing an executive order aimed at limiting the Legal Protections enjoyed by social Media Companies, mr. Trump called Companies Like twitter, facebook, and google media monopolies with unchecked power to censor. Many question whether the white house will be able to change the rules. Social Media Companies will continue to operate as they been operating because an executive order is not a law, its something that the president would like to see happen but there are many steps that we need to go through before anything could actually pragmatically change. The twitter ceo tweeted the full company fact checked president s tweet to show the information in dispute so people can judge for themselves. It appears california jobless claims are leveling off, new levels show more than 212,000 workers filed first time unemployment claims last week. Thats about 32,000 less than the week before. Nationwide, 2. 1 million americans filed for unemployment last week. Right now, some 21 Million People are collecting benefits, more than 40 million have reported losing their jobs since the crisis began nearly 3 months ago. The Boston Marathon has been canceled for the first time in its 124 year history. Organizers say they have instead of Virtual Event in which participants who verify they ran 26. 2 miles, they will receive a finishers metal instead. Coming up next, most bay area dmvs are back open. The major changes that you will start seeing, and the critical thing you need to do to be able to get inside. Everything is back open tonight in one Northern California county that is choosing to defy governor newsom. I think theres a lot of frustration that the county is being somewhat lumped in to a onesizefitsall type of criteria. A little later on, criminals make all kinds of excuses when they get caught, but this one nine bay area dmv offices reopened today with some big changes. We were there as one of the Santa Clara Locations opened this morning. If you go, you will first see a greeter who figures out the line that you need to stand in. Anyone without an appointment will be turned away. People who do have an appointment have to wait in line outside until they are called. Once inside, everyone is Wearing Masks and many of the booths are closed off to maintain social distancing. Theyve had enough time to figure out spacing and cleaning and theyve been very good about asking us all to all wear masks so i think they are on top of it which makes me feel comfortable. Another california county is defying the governor and taking its own approach to reopening. Colusa county in the Central Valley voted to fully reopen to the changed meaning all businesses, churches, and organizations can open their doors without restrictions. Supporters say with only five confirmed cases, they feel its time to return to normal. What the county is saying is that people are free to follow and interpret and follow the state guidelines and state orders as they deem fit. I think theres a lot of frustration that the county is being somewhat lumped into a onesizefitsall type of criteria for the state as a whole. Its still up to the businesses and restaurants to decide if they want to reopen. Up next, the suspect to says he broke into a bank to use their microwave oven. Wait until you hear heres what we want everyone to do. Count all the hugs you havent given. All the hands you havent held. All the dinners you didnt share with friends. The trips you havent taken. Keep track of them. Each one means one less person vulnerable, one less person exposed, and one step closer to a healthier community. So for now, keep your distance. But dont lose count. Well have some catching up to do. Finally tonight, its definitely one of the most unusual bank heists weve ever heard of. A man who broke into a san ego wells fargo told police that all he was really after was their microwave oven to heat up his hot pocket. All of that for a hot pocket . Hot pocket . Was it worth it . It was worth it. When you are hungry you are hungry, after breaking and the men headed for the break room where the Alarm Company spotted him on a Security Camera doing exactly what he said. He was having a hot pocket. He really wanted that. Im hungry. Now i kind of one, they are really good.
