Reporter the trip between the brandnew stations was relatively short, but the journey connecting san jose to the bay areas largest Transit Agency has spanned generations. A lot of people that it would never happen. I know the mayor has had this vision for over 30 years so generation to generation, the baton has been passed forward. Hundreds of people shared their experiences during a Virtual City Council meeting today. Many of them said they were shot with rubber bullets and tear gas. The police chief has since issued a ban on rubber bullets to disperse crowds, but activists want the city to divert funding from Police Services toward community programs. Why does everyone call it the police force and not the Police Service . Last i checked police were meant to serve and protect citizens, not oppress and terrorize them. We demand nothing less than a fundamental reimagining of the role of policing in our society and deep reflection on how we can use our resources to build the society and the world we all deserve it we will be taking action and not all that action will be taken today, were going to be considering actions taken over the next several weeks and months because this is important work and it doesnt get done overnight and there are no simple fixes. Theres hard work to be done ahead. Instead of defining the department, the san jose mayor is pushing for reform. This all comes as the new york governor signs a sweeping legislation today aimed at keeping the police accountable. The new law signed today are included one allowing the release of disciplinary records. To ensure transparency and police departments, it also bans Police Chokehold and sets up a special Prosecutors Office to investigate the deaths of people during and following encounters with police. Still ahead, a powerful call to action painted on the city street, the artist behind this giant mural spanning three blocks. A man stranded on a San Francisco cliff, the tricky rescue that took dozens of First Responders and a long rope. Is there hope for salvaging a baseball season . Time is running out to reach a a big show of support for the black lives Matter Movement , San Francisco now has its own giant mural stretching across three city blocks. We go live at a youth rally at city hall. Earlier we spoke to some of the artists behind the street painting. Reporter the mural is located right here at city hall where right now theres a very sizable d he onis i want to live youth march and rally, take a look, we have a big group dancing, this is organized by the naacp of San Francisco and oakland. Earlier we saw another striking show of support. With tiny strokes of paintbrushes, these volunteers are determined to send a big message. Black power is about us being able to live freely, stand, and walk in a warmer son. Reporter in huge block letters, the words meant to meet a transformative movement. The thing about being black in america is its a constant trauma, theres never a day without trauma. Just driving in a policeman pulls up, isnt even driving behind you is a traumatic experience for many black people. Reporter the mural stretches down fulton street from octavia to webster, this is clearly a grassroots movement. We saw families, even Young Children rolling out the ight o these letters ght artists, this is our voice. This is the motivation thats supposed to light the fire that inspires people. We need equity and equality across the board. Reporter it was sponsored in part by the Bay Area Mural Program and has the backing of the mayor. I think the community has made a decision to do what they did to put it on fulton street near where i used to be, the executive director of the africanamerican art and culture complex and i think its community driven, community supported, so as far as im concerned, thats up to the community. Reporter earlier today, a number of employees from the warriors were out here, we also heard from a former nfl player. The group is now dancing, but they do plan to march over to the hall of justice. This event is expected to wrap up by 6 30 this evening. In the east bay, an artist painted one along 15th street in oakland and Berkeley Students painted black lives matter along alston wiper mike pence held a race and Police Reform discussion with africanamerican leaders in pittsburgh. Im tired that people still do not acknowledge that systemic racism is real. White lives matter and we dont deny that, right now, white lives are not being oppressed in the same way. The conversation comes a day after president some promise to take action on Police Reform. He plans to return to the campaign trail with a rally next friday, but hes facing criticism, the date, june 19 which celebrates the end of slavery in the u. S. Was that on purpose . No, were going to oklahoma, and if you think about it relative to your question, think about it as a celebration. Theres also controversy on his choice of venue in tulsa, oklahoma which is the site of a race massacre that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of africanamerican residents, nearly 100 years ago. Mark zuckerberg and his wife say they are disgusted by president trumps facebook posts, the zuckerbergs waiting after their own foundation asked that posts containing misinformation and hate speech he deleted. The company responded with a twopage letter posted to twitter. The couple wrote, quote, we are deeply shaken and disgusted by president trumps divisive and incendiary rhetoric at a time when our nation so desperately needs unity. Facebook has received criticism surrounding president trumps posting in recent weeks, but the Company Maintains its goal is to give everyone a voice, even if its speech they disagree with. A pretty tricky rescue for the San FranciscoFire Department this morning, they were called out for a person who was stuck on a cliff near the legion of honor. Firefighters and National ParkService Rangers used ropes to pull the man to safety, eventually he was then taken to hospital for treatment. No word tonight on his condition. The fog is cooling down parts of the bay area, this afternoon as we check out this timelapse khmer exclusive Sales Force Tower camera. Weve got low cloud cover and fog rolling back in as we head to this evening at tonight, spreading inland as well but eventually today the sun will break through. Cool and breezy on saturday and a pleasantly warm sunday on the way, just a today cool down. Only 62 degrees right now its at cisco, only two spots in the 70s, 71 in concord, 72 in santa rosa and everybody else is in the 60s, remarkably cooler than 24 hours ago, about 10 to 15 degrees cooler than most inland locations and even around the bay, several degrees of of yesterdays pace which was already a little cooler than wednesday. As we have through the day tomorrow its going to be another breezy day but not quite as flat out windy yesterday was, with has sustained winds in the 20 to 25 mileperhour range today and tomorrow were talking about maybe 10 to 15, occasionally stronger than that but the winds straight out of the west. Temperatures tonight dropping down into the 50s, the coolest spots will be the valleys of the north bay, i think its possible you would dip down into the upper 40s around santa rosa but every body else should level off in the 50s, we will warmup, but its going to be at a slow pace like we saw today. To which is by noon around 70 degrees inland, but a lot of 60s on the map and along the coast once again youre going to have to struggle to reach 60 degrees but i think you will make it for half moon bay, mid to upper 60s around the bay, low to mid 70s further inland, the warmer spots will only make it to the upper half of the 70s which is another day that we stay below 80 degrees across the entire area. Warmer weather is on the way for sunday and theres more warm weather down the line, the longrange outlook which takes us through next weekend calls for significant chance of above average temperatures, not just for the bay area but for most of the west coast with the best chance a little farther to our north. Temperatures will be a little toasty as we go through most of next week, mid to upper 80s around 90 degrees inland, low to mid 70s around the base and near the coast to magician warm into the 60s.
