County, anthony, they are closing beaches and theyve canceled fourth of July Fireworks displays. This comes as news of a Record Number of cases in the county, daily cases, nearly 3,000. At this point, Health Officials think 1 out of every 140 los angeles could be infected with the virus and is spreading it to others without even knowing it. We cant sustain this rate of increase on positive cases. We just cant. Health officials are sounding the alarm. They could run out of hospital beds in just a few weeks. Hospitalizations in l. A. County are up more than 20 in the last two weeks. Statewide, they are up roughly 43 over the same period. Now authorities are stepping up enforcement. Gatherings with people you do not live with are not allowed. Reporter thats the mayor of los angeles reenforcing his mandate to slow the spread. Statewide, california ordered seven counties, including los angeles, to close their bars while three of the states largest counties, including san diego and sacramento closed bars voluntarily on monday. Californias one of 32 states reporting an increase in their sevenday average of new coronavirus cases. In nine of those states, the rate of positive tests is more than 10 . Including arizona. Where on monday, governor doug ducey closed bars, gyms, theaters and waterparks for one month after weeks of increasing hospitalizations and new cases. At a news conference, he was asked about letting bars reopen in may. Did you screw up . Were fixing it. People under age 44 account for more than half of all cases in arizona. And while the risk of serious illness is low, the Public Health risk remains. They can also share it with mom or dad or grandma or grandfather. And on that note, the governors of kansas and oregon has a statewide mask mandate, as does the city of jacksonville, florida. And thats where the Republican Convention is going to be held in august. In texas, officials reversed course after telling bar ining Restaurant Owners it was safe to reopen with restrictions. Now some are having to weigh the health risks against their own livelihoods. We cant keep going as is. Whether those measures will be sufficient is something we dont know at this point. Reporter these often crowded spots are being singled out as a major source of the latest outbreak. The 170 increases in the state in the last two weeks. Texas started reopening may 1st, just after reporting a death toll of 50. The highest in state at that point. It defied a white house recommendation that states see a downward trajectory of cases over a twoweek period. As cases were still mounting. In no way is texas alone. In michigan, the ingam Health Department says more than 100 covid cases across 13 counties have been linked to harpers bar in east lansing. New york mayor bill de blasio cited the michigan bar as one reason he might delay the reopening of Indoor Dining at restaurants in his city. At age 98, he was one of the last survivors of the early days of network television. Reiner was famous for creating comedy on television with sid caesar and Dick Van Dyke and movies with steve martin and on records with mel brooks. The main thing carl reiner was, was very funny. Carl reiners motto was, enter laughing. Sometimes that meant he entered dancing. He could be the straight man rex, you realize what talking movies will mean for you . At last. In later years, reiner did a lot of acting and a lot of directing, including four films starring steve martin. He also produced a famous son. Rob reiner grew up to be a top comedy actor and director himself. Ive been silly all my life and i continue to be silly. And i go for that. And she goes for that.
