The Department Confirms 57year old oscar rocha died just before 7 00 this evening after nearly three weeks in intensive care in walnut creek. Reporter now a Security Consultant for several cannabis related businesses. He showed us a video from late may. Thats marijuana being hung up as part of the cultivation process. Caravans of dozens of looters hit a bench of the cannabis businesses all at once in late may, early june. Individuals came in, stole products. Some locks worth upwards of a Million Dollars worth of product. Reporter she says looters wiped out her business, closed it down. Cannabis businesses are already vulnerable because federal laws prevent them from using banks. Mean while, these legal businesses pay a very large tax oakland. So these Business Owners say they should be better protected. Weve been trying to work with the city to do better. We just have not been able to make headway. We see the result is a murder the other night. Reporter Oakland Police point out there were 200 calls for looting following the protests and it wasnt just cannabis companies. The department does have a cannabis unit with one Oakland Police officer assigned. I talk with that officer by phone today. He can alert all the cannabis businesses if one of them has become the victof a crime. Police do not have any mechanism to report cannabis related crimes. Mean while, the Business Owners say they want more to not have a response from Law Enforcement on many instances throughout the year is unacceptable and we demand a change. Reporter kpix 5. Oakland police say that they are still investigating the murder at the cultivation facility and so far there have been no arrests. The coronavirus has now killed more than 8,000 californians as the state records the single deadliest day since the start of the pandemic. Here in the bay area, new state data shows coronavirus cases are likely increasing in 6 of 9 counties. Last week, that number was 4. A lot of people mean while are trying to get tested at these new rapid sites, like the one in alameda, but many of them were turned away. They were greeted with a closed sign when they showed up this morning. Turns out the city ran into liability issues with the property owner. It finally opened this afternoon. Twoyearold was brought in from kansas and the park worked with the Alameda Health department to be able to ensure returning visitors of one thing. To come to the zoo will be a safe venture for families and kids. Reporter social distancing markers are on the ground around the ticket booth and on the gondola ride. And masks will be required for guests aged three and older. The zoo has also drastically ct its attendance numbers. Our peek attendance is usually known 7,000 and 8,000 people in a day, were going to reduce that to 2,500. Reporter while Safety Measures are put into place to protect the visitors to the park, theres also concern for animals. Also because of coronavirus, all the indoor exhibits, restaurants and the Amusement Park will remain closed, including the train to see the e mus and wallabis.
