And also lower relative humidity values. So a big concern as we head into tomorrow. In the meantime, looking at air quality, good to moderate this morning. Although closer to the glass fire, calistoga, st. Helena, looking at unhealthy air quality this morning. So a spare the air alert that remains in effect for today with those hazy skies. Temperatures mid 70s this afternoon in San Francisco and mid 80s in oakland and upper 80s for san jose and upper 90s for concord. Well talk about the heat advisory and fire weather watch for tomorrow coming up in just a few minutes but now lets check in with gianna for a look at traffic for the latest on the road closures due to the glass fire. Yeah, number of road closures remain in effect as well as parts of Sonoma County because of the wildfires, 128 right around Petrified Forest. That extends over to the Sonoma County line. 29. Closures continue there as well at dare park. At lake county line all the way to tubbs lane. So closures in effect there. Highway 12 you can see on the maps there. A large stretch closed and again this includes surface streets in and around the areas. Were already starting to see brake lights through the Altamont Pass and thats in the next report. Im anne makovec at the live news desk. And we just have this new video in from the firefighters who have been working the front lines of the glass fire in santa rosa, a very close call as a chimney falls. This is a strike team from San Mateo County and they were facing basically a six mile fire front monday morning. This is on Mountain Hawk drive in santa rosa. And they ended up saving dozens of homes here but just look at the conditions. This is what theyre dealing with. You can see the wind and how its just raging and moving the smoke around. And just a terrifying way, frankly. That fire of course continues to burn today. Lets take the latest look at the evacuations right now. The Napa County Community of angwin under a mandatory order along the city of calistoga and the hills to the west between Petrified Forest road and Diamond Mountain road. In Sonoma County. Downgraded to warnings in Santa Rosa West of calistoga road. It has burned more than actually its burned over 46,000 acres and more than 22,000 homes are still threatened this morning. And at least 115 structures have been destroyed. And at this point, it is 2 contained. So at least we moved up from 0 after several days and such a challenging fire fight over there. Were going to continue to cover it for you and emily turner is on her way to the scene in napa county to give us well be following that for you. Michelle. Of asfire where you can see flames coming through calistoga creeping up on highway 29 overnight but the fire is burning north and east. Somewhat away from populated areas. Fire crews are working hard just north of calistoga trying to keep the flames from jumping the highway. Calistoga remains a ghost town for now. Monday night, the fire was slowly approaching town but now the fire has moved up and the orange glow can be seen on the northeast side of highway 29. Cal fire says it has more than 2,000 firefighters working to knock down the glass fire. But they are spread throughout napa and sonoma counties. Calistoga residents are glad the fire hasnt entered city limits but they are still nervous. This is not good you know . P careful. Couple of times every summer. I guess thats now the price to pay for living here. Its a great place to live, but it feels like a bit of a beat down. Cal fire crews are providing structure protection but are letting some of the flames burn. The fire fatigue is overwhelming as evacuating year after year takes a huge toll. The endless months of watching for smoke and fire in the hills are worrying on the people who call the north bay home. 1400 square miles have burned in Sonoma County since 2017. Every wine country resident has their own fire story. Some go into autopilot whenever theres a red flag warning. The tubs fire was just a few blocks from our house. The first time. And then evacuated for kincaid. I mean, were all okay. Were resilient. Were full of love and blessed with so much. But it just keeps hitting us, you know . Its like come on. All right already. For all the talk of sonoma strong, wine country strong, the fatigue is real. The fires have brought much of northern napa county to a standstill. And not just in evacuated places. Power is actually out along much of the highway 128 corridor. So st. Helena is also largely deserted with just about every Downtown Business closed yesterday. En phone lines are also down in many areas and Cell Phone Service is limited. More than 27,000 customers in El Dorado County were impacted by pg es latest Public Safety power shutoffs. But some businesses were prepared to stay open without power. They used generators from previous shutoffs. Gallons of gas, two gallons at a time for residential generators too. Really like to keep all the stuff operational. Some Business Owners couldnt afford to stay open because of the high generator costs. To come pain 2020 now. Lets hit the roadways if you are headed to the Altamont Pass, supercommuters are already starting the see the brake lights. But its typical. No accidents or incidents to slow you down. So you basically know what to expect westbound 580. Slow and go as you connect off of 205 and extends to just about north flynn. I am seeing a few slow and go conditions through the Livermore Valley as well. Westbound side headed into the Altamont Pass. The dublin interchange, just a steady flow of traffic but no brake lights getting on to 680. 36 minute drive time, 205 over to 680. I just checked in with chp, no major accidents or incidents for the eastshore freeway and for highway 4 or for 101 out of the south bay. So that san jose commute off to a very good start this morning. The Golden Gate Bridge, a little foggy this morning. So they did issue a fog advisory. Limited visibility might be an issue as you work your way across the span and you can see that in the live shot. Right now the drive time southbound 101 as you head from the richmondsan rafael bridge down into the city is just about 15 minutes. So pretty much typical conditions as you head through there. No delays, no metering lights at the bay bridge toll plaza. Thats good news. Traffic off to a great start commuting out of the east bay working your way into San Francisco. And the san mateo bridge, pretty lightly traveled right now. No brake lights or troubles yet. 13 minutes to go between 880 over to 101. As we start out of the day. 60 for concord and oakland and 61 for livermore and San Francisco at 57. 63 right now in san jose and santa rosa coming in at 54. Lets talk about our air quality. So looking good to moderate across the region. With that onshore flow. Looking at good air quality for san frcidwood city and san leandro and oakland. Moderate air quality this morning for san jose and livermore as well as for concord and vacaville. Otherwise good air quality for santa rosa and berkeley and as well as for vallejo. But closer to the glass fire, in the north bay, for calistoga in strew. Unhealthy aqumoing. A this hot deem still parked overhead. And as we look to tomorrow, that ridge of High Pressure is only going to expand. So hot through the end of the week and we are looking at those temperatures for tomorrow even hotter. About 15 to 25 degrees above average. And that is the reason why a heat advisory will be in effect for tomorrow from 11 00 a. M. Until 8 00 p. M. Due to the dangerous heat. Temperatures will be back up to the mid 90s to triple digits inland and around the bay, mid 80s to low 90s tomorrow and even along the coast, mid to upper 70s. Also dealing with the high file danger for tomorrow. With a fire weather watch for the north bay mountains and above 1,000 feet and thats from tomorrow afternoon until friday evening. That does include the glass fire. So a big concern for us as we are going to see the winds pick up tomorrow. And lower relative humidity values critical fire weather conditions. Now futurecast, smoke concentration as we head through the day, well see those hazy skies and i think the smokiest conditions of course will be in the north bay closer to the glass fire. And even some of that smoke drifting into the east bay for today. As we look to tomorrow, though, we are looking at that smoke in our atmosphere getting even worse with poor air quality as we look to thursday with those smoky skies. And in the meantime, for today, looking at upper 80s for san jose. For the south bay, as we look to the east bay, upper 90s, 99 for concord and pleasant hill. Upper 90s to triple digit heat for the trivalley. Around the bay, looking at mid 70s in San Francisco and mid 80s in oakland and for the north bay, mid 80s to mid 90s later on this afternoon.
