We begin tonight with new details on the violent River Front Dock Brawl in montgomery, alabama, that went viral and has drawn nationwide attention. Police say Arrest Warrants have been issued for three individuals on Assault Charges. This after a simple disagreement turned into a massive fight involving more than a dozen people. Videos of this incident blew up on social media after a Black Boat Captain was assaulted by a group of white men. Many social media commentators noted the racial makeup of the attackers. But police state that the fight did not fit the criteria of a hate crime. Cbss Omar Villafranca will start us off from montgomery. Omar, good evening. Reporter good evening. This was the boat that was trying to dock for more than 40 minutes which led to what many people are calling melee in montgomery. A viral boatside brawl that was all hands on deck. Video taken by eyewitnesses show damien pickett, cocaptain of a large river boat, asking a group to move their pontoon so the riverboat could dock in its assigned space. [shouting] they refuse and attack pickett, wrestling him to the ground while punching and kicking him. Picketts coworkers and others rushed to his aid including 16yearold Aaron Rudolph who jumped into the water and swam to help. Once the river boat docked, the fight escalated. One woman was pushed into the river. [shouting] this man uses a Folding Chair as a weapon and hits this woman. Multiple people recorded the brawl including christa owen. I just wanted to make sure that the police knew when it came to the end, who threw the first punches. Reporter today authorities have charged three white men with thirddegree assault and are looking to question the man who was wielding the chair. We did examine if there was enough to file Hate Crimes Charges on this case. We have also looked at what it takes to elevate this to a riot. We have worked with our local district attorney.
