Those are some of the big names that made the trip to San Francisco city hall for the memorial, all sharing memories of feinsteins historic career in public service. We also heard personal stories about senator feinstein. Her granddaughter reflected on the life advice that she got from her beloved grandmother. It does not matter how many times you lose, you pick yourself up, dust yourself up and keep going, no matter what. That, and she would also say to me, if you ever go out of town, no matter where you are going, it does not matter if you are going to a city or the desert or the beach or the mountains, always pack a black pantsuit. In San Francisco, a man arrested and charged with a violent robbery back in august is said to be arraigned in court today. The attack left a store clerk dead and an neighborhood in shock. A 21yearold from hollister is accused of beating the store clerk so badly that he ended up dying soon after. This was in the richmond district. He is charged with murder, robbery, and aggravated assault. The da says she will file a motion to keep him in jail pending trial. If convicted of all charges, he faces the possibility of life in prison. The wnba is coming to the bay area. Yesterday, the league announced a new Expansion Team will begin playing in 2025. The team will play its games over a chase center and the practice facility is in oakland, the former warriors practice facility. This is the first new team in the wnba in 15 years. There was no name yet for the team but you can pay 25 to put your name on a wait list for tickets. It is a first alert weather day. The heat has a lot of people worried about the threat of fire. The pilot taking his spot is breaking some barriers of her own. This is the show i have circled on my calendar every single year. For the last time, Lieutenant Commander scott will be flying over his hometown of San Francisco. I am getting up in the jet, flying over the bay, seeing my house, high school, all of that. It felt like a dream come true. Piloting jet number four, he is taking a flight down memory lane while worrying over the city he grew up in. It is a full circle moment for me. I remember as a kid watching the jets flying over the bay just like we are about to do on thursday. I remember being in school, looking out the window, the jets would be whizzing by and the teachers had no chance of keeping our attention so they let us go outside. I just remember thinking it was the coolest thing in the world. It is a bittersweet experience. Even more special this year is flying in honor of the late senator and San Francisco mayor Dianne Feinstein who brought fleet week to the city in 1981. This whole weekend is in her honor. She is a reason why fleet week came to San Francisco not only as someone who loved her country beloved the city of San Francisco and did so much to get fleet week here. The Team Includes the first female blue angel, lieutenant amanda lee. After this season ends, she will be flying in his number four position next year. She is here because she is qualified. She is not here because she is a woman. She is incredibly qualified. It is more than a new member of the team, a role model for his own young daughter. I have a daughter, a 2yearold. It is a great thing to see, for my daughter to be able to look up and see somebody in this role and know that it is something they can do. He says goodbye to the job he calls the honor of a lifetime. Our Jessica Burch met with a local teacher who had a chance to take part in the highflying fun before the rest of us. Say cheese as a teacher, kyle archer is used to helping students soar. Today, he is preparing to do it himself as the blue angels get ready for fleet week. In addition to keeping college prep and honors english, kyle leads the Community Service program. He helps oversee this program where he mentors 61st generation learners. I have been here for nine years and i just help as many people as possible. Kyle has been nominated twice for teacher of the year but it was his brother who nominated him for this onceinalifetime experience. Luck of the draw, made it through the process. Lifelong dream . 100 . Growing up with a brother, like a lot of little boys, playing top gun, going to the airshows growing up. It will take a lifetime to pay his brother back for what happened next. She plays on Clermont Middle School girls Basket Ball Team and if she looks familiar, that is because she also plays for the oakland lady rebels, the team i interviewed at the beginning of this year when talk of a wnba team coming to the bay area first started. Reporter she told me she cant believe the rumors came true but she is still excited for what this means for Womens Basketball in the bay. I think that it will be good for the women because it will have more support and more things to do. The girls coach says it is an experience she does not think any of them will forget. I think it will mean a lot to them to see women play the sport. I know we watch a lot of men play. Seeing women play is super important. Seeing it in your own town is even more meaningful. I am really excited that they get to have this growing up.
