We are seeing big swells, rip currents, sneaker waves, everything across the board. Today is not the day to head to the coast. Many of you probably received multiple earthquake alerts over the past 24 hours. One over night was sent by accident and official drill was this morning at 10 19. Today is great shake out day, an annual statewide drill to prepare us for the next big one. Shawn chitnis has more on what to keep in mind when you think about being earthquake ready. Reporter after a week of traveling across the state to promote the great shake out, its time for everyone to drop, cover, and hold on, and for good reason. No matter where you live in the bay area, you are not far from a fault line. Her work hopes to help people be fascinated by the shaking, not frightened. Reporter he earned his High School Diploma and works as a residential assistant. This is one of the rooms for the tiny homes. The residents stay here either have to participate in going to school or working or both. Reporter the homes were built during the pandemic by students in the program. Just across the street these dorms have been built, up to 30 young adults can live here. This is an a. D. A. Room. Reporter she tells us the dorms are meant for people to stay in while going through a Certificate Program or community college. They have to come here in one of our classrooms and do their homework. We call that education hours. Its like an exchange for housing. We want them to become self sufficient but we have to help them do that. Reporter living in the tiny homes, they helped. We did painting, some electricity work. Reporter many came to celebrate the construction including city leaders. The hope is this helps young adults who know first hand what having a place to live and having the support to develop your skills can do for young people. He says he is a residential assistant in part to help others he can relate to. One day i want to have my own boys and girls club. Its going to be a place like this but its going to be in my name. Reporter he has big goals. At the same time he is inspiring others going through some of the same challenges he went through. The program gets some funding from the state, county, city. This event, one of the largest so far, some of the smaller this is the only chance to get their work screened. Up here i think a lot of people volunteered. Its important for the community, absolutely a blessing for me. I never would have known how to get a crew together. Actress jaclyn oh kelly says the network starts at the top. Dave and marcus are very sociable, kind, generous individuals. Theyre always extending a personal hand to invite me to bay area film mixer events. You look amazing.
