Could impact you. One result that could have a big election. Voters approved a change to the countys rule on recalls, raising a lot of questions ahead of november when there could be as many as five recalls. They were written in 1926 instead. They will use rules set by the state, which raises the number of signatures required to get a recall on the ballot, giving local officials more time to schedule a vote if it does. It is important to note the recall efforts against District Attorney pamela price submitted their signatures on monday. So this rule change will not apply to that campaign, but could change when the vote actually takes place. A lot of big races to break down after super tuesday. Here to help with all of it is david mcewan. Thank you for joining us tonight. Its a pleasure to be with you. Adam schiff and steve garvey will face off in november. If you think about this a bit, it is a surprise. We would expect to see steve garvey increase his lead, hold his lead by about three to five points, the top vote getter in the primary. If you start to slice and dice the vote totals between the democrats and the republicans, youll see that even in a low turnout primary, it will be about 60 democratic vote, 40 republican vote and one or two registered voters that are democrats about that number. And in a high interest general election, with the number of contested races that will put them in the driver seat. The challenge for steve garvey is going to be can he raise money and convince donors hell be competitive . He wont be able to hide and he wont do that heavy lifting. One out of every 4 that they spent were spent on steve garvey on television. That wont be the case beginning today. All right, lets go to San Francisco now. Measures involving the drug crisis and Public Safety passed fairly easily, but there was a real low voter turnout. Its about 20 . Did the results of this election mean that San Francisco is shifting away from its progressive reputation . What do you think . Yeah, it is very interesting with a number of things that will go in. They like to vote early and often. In addition to that, they will usually vote on the more liberal Progressive Side to what we call the chamber of commerce and they will come out as regular habitual voters with a concern in San Francisco about the direction of business and about retail and about safety and what is going on with the climate if you will of the city by the bay. That obviously rebounds a bit on mayor breed and she and her family have to be excited about them. But they can only carry that so far. What it does indicate, voters are terribly concerned about Public Safety issues. Those will be important for the fall for her reelection efforts. They are going to have to kind of push back on this, so you can look into this and breathe a sigh of relief, but there really is a lot to look at here that they have to be concerned about. Dont forget, it was just a short time ago that San Francisco voters were called there for having gone too far and will say super aggressive. The only statewide ballot measure and that signature plan to shift the way they address the drug treatment. Lets take a look at this map of how the voting breaks down. I thought it was fascinating. All the bay area voting yes on this will go inland or north and south along the coast, all red. Is this a reflection of how they feel about gavin newsom . Yeah, generally those who touch water, they will tend to vote blue. If you start to look at this, you will see that they will help draw out the republican voters. That brought a number of voters to the polls that dont want to spend money. The ballot measure like this with no organized opposition should have 52 of the votes and it looks like it might pass, but it wont be that 52 number and that is usually important because hes identified with this issue for better or ill and that is a really hard sell and a hard road to go as you look to run for office. That has to be concerning for them and they will look at other ballot measures in the fall and they will do that. It looks like they are in that mood and this measure is real close, closer than what it should be because it should be somewhere there, so they clearly are concerned voting against this measure and even if it ekes that out. Well see you again. And the runaway race in Sonoma County on the seat of the board of supervisors for district one. Results are showing a landslide win for the senior political aid.
