Labor's home affairs spokesperson had been due to fly to Christmas Island and the Cocos Islands next week with parliament's bipartisan Joint Standing Committee on the National Capital and External Capitals. She said the trip had been planned for months and former defence minister Linda Reynolds had approved the use of a government special purpose aircraft due to the limited commercial flights available.
