For several hours, negotiators kept talking with the man while police surrounded the home. Then officers say they heard a gun shot go off. The Tactical Team stormed in and opened fire on the man. He was then taken to a hospital where he died. The mans wife and five and 11year old children were not injured. darya new this morning. Police in Santa Cruz County are warning people about a new phone scam. People are getting calls from somebody pretending to be from the sheriffs office. The caller tells the victim that they have to pay a fine in order to avoid an arrest warrant for missing jury duty. In some cases the victims were asked for as much as one thousand dollars.
