The Highway Patrol is investigating a rollover crash that killed the driver of a water tank truck this morning. It happened around 630 am on oakville grade near yountville. Chp says the driver was headed down the steep road to refill the water tanks when the truck went down the embankment. The truck was providing water to fire crews battling the nuns fire. No word on the cause of the crash. But the firefight has been going on for a week now. And authorities acknowlege that exhaustion could be a factor. grant we have some updates on evaucation orders that we want to tell you about. Evacuation advisory orders have now been lifted in parts of Sonoma County. Bennett valley road and the area east of Petaluma Hill road. Shirlee zane is a Sonoma County supervisor and former Mental Health specialist she says now is the time to offer as much campassion as possible to those awaiting word about missing family members and friends. People returning home should stay clear of electrical wires on the ground. vicki the mandatory Evacuation Order in effect for the city of calistoga has now been reduced to an advisory. And is now 70percent. pam the number of dead from the fires remains at 41 tonight. 22 of the deaths are in Sonoma County alone. steve we have also learned the number of people reported missing has dropped. The Sonoma County sheriff says 88 people remain unaccounted for. Thats down from the initial reports of close to 2thousand. In napa county. 14 people are still missing tonight. steve so many evacuees are eager to return home even if that means there is not much of a home to go back too pam today. Still, for residents who call this area home, there is a lot of anxiety to see for their selves what remains, and maybe find something of personal value left in the ruins. The california Highway Patrol says the truck went off the road on oakville grade off highway 29 near yountville this morning the driver was a private contractor helping cal fire. We know the driver was the only man in the truck at the the time. Investigators say the truck was empty and headed downhill when it rolled over and went down an embankment. Many of them also had to evacuate and battle the fire in their own communities. The progress being made in fighting the fires is thanks to the work of thousands of firefighters and a little help from the weather. Fire crews feel good about the progress they are making. But the threat is not over. The wine country fires have even taken some veteran firefighters by surprise. Dominic Polito cal fire this is like a fire ive never seen before. So without those winds were doing a lot better. Polito poleato says, with crews pushing the fire away from the communities and having more personell. This is one of several wineries damage. It wasnt just this winery, another one real close to here had another narrow escape. Open just days y all that destroyed several other wineries here along the silverado trail and left its calling card here. s the fire came down off of the mountain and it spread across the canyon and came down to the trail. We are the Second Property here proceeding from south to north that appears to be burned. Then it caught the mother vineyards and wineries. He showed me how the fire seemed to burn all around the tasting room taking a toll on the landscaping. The nearby winery was destroyed. Propane tanks]ys exploded, and woods behind the winery are gone. Yes, it looks like we got hwell from th back coming towards the front. Here we are standing in front of my tasting room where it is scorched all the way around. Some of the trees are completely burned. Zthe burning areas scorched. The 12 5u4acres of vines emerged from the firestorm pretty much intact. Also, the vineyard manager is happy about that. We were nearly done with the harvest. Of our grapes. We diverted some grapes to another winery the other day, ow finishing up the winds, but we cant really finish them up until we have all of our infrastructures as i mentioned intact. Reporter back alive here off of the silverado trail, something that s getting qnthe lights back on, getting the electricity, and getting the power back on. They tell me they have the power on, so they are able to at this winery. Until they do, they really cant get anything done. They are going to have to get the lights back up before they i ib usual.
