County District attorney john fund his charge the 2 officers with felony level seconddegree assault when discussing this case with us today. He drew parallels to the case of kenneth act all of an erie county sheriffs deputy who flynn charged with misdemeanor assault after an incident at a 2017 bills game. Flynn says the case involving toward all skin mccabe involves the same assault allegation is the echo case with one key difference making this charge a felony. There happens to be any specific penal law. Subsection. That says. If the vet dama is 65 years or older. And the perpetrator is 10 years younger. That makes it a felony. Turn all ski is 39 mccabe is 32. Among the group of their supporters today was buffalo pba president john evans. He thinks the da is overstepping. Totally unwarranted overcharged it its thats a problem here is the da is a politician. And deputies shot and killed here in santa cruz were and a half. Were here for you and were open. Wow. Jamison Creek and
Boulder Creek and the
Santa Cruz Mountains where he was attacked. And that is where kron fours rain harvey is standing by this morning right now. The
Santa Cruz Community is hurting i just witnessed a woman walk up. Right here in from the
Sheriffs Office where that growing memorial is taking place. She left a flower she hugged one of the deputies there. They had a tearful embrace so its been very heartbreaking to watch this morning. How the community is hurting. But were going to show you how that scene played out yesterday take a look at your screen. What youre looking at his deputies here approaching the home when they were ambushed with gunfire and homemade bombs they were originally called to the scene to investigate a suspicious van. The caller saw guns and bomb making materials inside of that van, so they were at this home investigating that call. My
Sergeant Damon got will or was shot and taken to the hospital where he died. A second deputy was also injured either shot or hit with an explosive and then hit by a car driven by that suspect the deputy is fighting for their lives as we speak. Now that suspect
Steven Crowell was shot and taken into custody, a r after reports of a nearby car jacking carrillo was arrested for murder and other felony charges after being treated and released from the hospital. Heres sheriff jim hart speaking about that fallen deputy. And this era that were in we think about what you want to see a
Police Officer somebody who truly loves his job he wants to help deeply missed. Now that memorial will take place later this afternoon for deputy got will learn from the faces and expressions on the deputies faces this morning. You can absolutely tell they have suffered a tremendous lost in this department for now reporting out here in

Sean Monterrosa was fatally shot outside of a walgreens store following the shooting officers learned an object sticking out of his sweatshirt pocket was in fact a hammer not a gun as the officer had sought. Police
Officers Association is defending the officers actions saying he used deadly force as a last resort because he was afraid that monterroso was about to open fire. Montrose who was kneeling on the ground and facing officers when he was fatally shot, he died at a local hospital. Thousands of people shut down the

And stephan i ship curry were at another protest this was from the demonstration that they were in in palo alto the marches all around the bay over the weekend have been peaceful. And there were also protests in big cities across the country as well as people gathered to protest against the death of george floyd and
Police Brutality take a look at your screen in seattle protesters clashed with police after protesters began throwing rocks and bottles and fireworks at officers over in
Portland Oregon police had used tear gas once again to try to disperse large crowds that gathered to protest into the night protest in texas went into the night as well you can see protesters are blocking a road near highway in austin as the crowd rallies against
Police Brutality and then in los angeles. The bottom right hand corner, hundreds of protesters spilled into the streets marching as part of a gain nationwide protests. There was also a large movement in washington d c theyre thousands peacefully marched throughout the capital with karen caifa with more on that. On the same day that a
Memorial Service was held in
George Floyds hometown in
North Carolina, a number of major cities were host to more protests that included right here in the
Nations Capital washington dc, a number of people came out in the streets starting at 9 10 oclock in the morning and he stayed out here to make their voices heard despite temperatures topping 90 degrees. They had an opportunity to make their voices heard in front of some of the most iconic monuments in the entire country places like the u. S. Capitol the
Supreme Court and of course the white house behind me. Here in washington on saturday was a lot different than weve seen in recent days, it was a lot more peaceful and it was certainly a lot more hopeful, so much so that families felt like they could bring their children out to be part of what they thought was a very important day. Take a listen to what some of those who did come out here have to say we need to be able to show of force. What it means to bring people together instead opposing to divide us. And more importantly for my kids and their future active in our sights this i feel that we still hes my son is still easy care. Even though we are to show their support need to keep on pushing until actual many of those i spoke with out in the crowd said that they attributed that little bit of hope to some of the change they have seen over the last few days things like the arrest of the other 3 officers involved in
George Floyds killing and also the removal of some confederate monuments in neighboring virginia, they feel that coming out and having a voice is making some tangible change in washington, im karin caifa. San Franciscos at chi pride parade are drawing parallels between the marches that they took part in back in the late 60s and the nationwide protest against racism that were seeing right now. We are a full community and and so we really have to think about how were connected and how we have to support those who are most of crossed by our culture and our society and im thinking in particular of putting forth. The message of black lives i think thats the most

George Floyds brother is set to testify before
Congress Later this week. When we some 44 right now checking out the weather and im wondering if its going to be just as windy today. I know were looking live here at the
Golden Gate Bridge beautiful shot course that will span yesterday was filled with people demonstrating your walk across the whole span. Law ive done it. Yeah, was one 8. 8 now so yeah looks bright out there this morning a lot of sunshine but yeah, definitely windy across the span times yesterday john. Yeah, the wind has been the as it has been a beautiful weekend. Then the winds really coming through it was a gusting as high as 40
Miles Per Hour at the
Golden Gate Bridge in fact for the weekend so for a lot of people that were out there maybe a little bit of messy air after all of that as that wind rush through you can see outside at
San Francisco right now skies are nice and clear and it looks nice and calm, but yeah, its still pretty windy south bay youre under a little bit of cloud cover a few fair weather cumulus clouds just of 9 white rice white puffy clouds up about and nothing thats resulting in any chance of rainfall this morning. Temperatures are cool in the 50s for most of the bay with a few 40s in the north bay. Now your factor in those winds that we do have outside and there is a brisk feel to it as you stepping out there right now winds are gusting into a range of 10 to 15
Miles Per Hour later on today, especially on into early evening. Well have our peak gusts anywhere from 20 to 30
Miles Per Hour. So another windy evening at a look at what happens after tonight winds dramatically opt out and tomorrow will be a nice and calm or compared to where we have been these breezy conditions partly due to the storm system to our north which is resulting in a few showers here and there from mendocino and own or to counties to the north bay area. The area itself though its nice and dry. We have all that sunshine as you noted we just also happen when it that has cooled us down pretty nicely but. Resulted in a bit of a just inconvenience as you step out there today skies will remain
Clear Conditions fairly breezy although not as windy as they back. Tomorrow skies, nice and clear temperatures warmer and conditions a whole lot less breezy so plenty of change is just around the corner as soon as tomorrow. Todays daytime highs remain cooler than average with highs only in the 60s and 70s. Our warmer spots being conquered into cut 75 degrees each well, mid 60s up the coast in
San Francisco in
Half Moon Bay. Tomorrow daytime highs and went right into the low 80s and further climb into tuesday and wednesday. Much like the past 2 weeks or warmest days of this forecast are smack dab in the middle your week. Well, our coolest days before cast are expected to be yet again on into next weekend. So we will have our own little mini heatwave again for 3rd week in a row followed by a 3rd weekend in a row with cooler temperatures much like weve experienced the past couple of days. Thats your forecast all send it back to you guys in the studio. Thanks a lot 7. 47 right now in

San Francisco couple sharing their special moment. In front of thousands of people protesting on the
Golden Gate Bridge were going to join us live coming up nex protest on the
Golden Gate Bridge. Bay area couple quinn the messenger and carry montgomery got engaged yesterday right there in the middle of it all out how cool is that you can see the excitement there everybody applauding cheering bringing smiles which weekend sorely use more of. In these times quinn and kerry who you see in the video actually joining us this morning via zoom to talk about that moment that honestly has gone viral. This morning, good morning guys. Morning my name and congratulations tell us how this sure long. Thank you all giving us of a platform and says sometimes facebook the all this you know we know that the whole country is is hurting right now and all of us are processing things in a different way. This week has been a very challenging for me as a member of the black community. And theres been some cultural traumas that have come up inside and this woman here has been instrumental in being able to help you navigate those things and. I have had a lot of fear as a black man in america going to these know some of that fear is from seeing things on on on the news and in social but also my fathers
African American group in the south during
Civil Rights Movement and his parents when allow him to go to the protests out of fear of in being targeted. So kerry went to protest earlier this and it was a very challenging moment for me. Because i felt my had been taken away that i didnt have a chance to go in support. So i stayed behind and supported in prayer and in that prayer. Ive found that it was important for us to to go together and we went down there. I had the ring in my pocket, and i just held on the whole time and i just let lovely kerry had no idea that it was coming in. When it happened i think i was confused because it didnt seem like she im sure you carry a care youve been at these protests and he doesnt come so you figure. Well hes just going to come along the second question right that had to be the only one i also want to just tiana day the 17 yearold who won the preakness together we have seen thousands of people out on long before and i dont know if you can tell from the video i had no idea what clinton is doing and i was like and i think everyone around us knew what was going on in and then i saw the reunion i was just shocked and shaking and you know i think the take away for me is i also we have a lot
Difficult Conversations this week and i think the important thing is just getting comfortable with being uncomfortable and i grew up in birmingham, alabama, and you know i. Knowledge that i have work to do, but i also have a voice and everyone has a voice and
Everyone Needs to engage in these conversations and you know its so much more than protests since get active and boat and go to your
City Council Meetings and listen to people and have empathy and learn from each other because you know im not doing this right no ones doing it right you have to just take a step forward and you have to the okay with just opening up and having conversations and so it was just awesome so feel everyone happy and the energy and you know not everyone can see it i lives that its it was it was just really need to be able to share that moment with strangers was really incredible it sounds like though this was a test of your relationship going up to this with you going out carrying the protests and the eu quinn saying no im not going to go that must have caused some friction. It did and you know weve been in a relationship for 5 years and we keep learning from each other and i had to learn to just listen and be patient and understand that. You know quenton has a different experience of course than i do and i have to put him first in this moment and we did we had a we had a lot of really tough conversations not just with each other, but family and with friends and outwork and you know its its yeah and i think to carry a really touched on it, you know, were all coming at this with our own doctor astin in our own trauma know we even as a member of the black community, you know we all have our own experiences in our own trauma that were dealing with in i think this week has been really eye opening for us they its really important to to listen eirst and first and foremost if if if someone isnt giving you a chance that doesnt mean that you cant give them a chance its been a really healing process for us in i was actually going to propose to carry in japan. A couple months ago, but the coronavirus hit and we were unable to go we had to cancel our trip and i was really upset and angry and waiting for that but this this phone right i decided to do it the night before in it was my guiding to go out there and face some of my fears, im going to be just as annoying is like your parents might be like not same way you can have kids but. I cant say ok if and when you have kids. How are you going to treat. Protests and social activism because i find that interesting quinn that your initial reaction because of the way europe was oh no im not going to go im not going to go im all for it, but i want to go and and care you are the opposite oh yeah i need to go so what do you go to model for your kids. Sure absolutely thank you for asking that because first and foremost as the work that we all have to do together and thats the work that we all need to do as adults and leaders is to remind us remind everyone that this is about legacy. This is about the legacy of this country not being broke in country has been built this way and that we need to be honest about those things and that you know its important they they i think the next generation really understands that. Theres theres aspects of of all of us that we need to listen to and you need to lead with listening and that we need to lead by example that was also really important for me and going tomorrow is when my dad shared with me that he was scared to go i had that fear inside of me and i needed to move past that and carry you that in we must lead by example we must listen. And finding a you know i think also creative in and just a very simple way of speaking with with children is really you know i speaking to fairness, you know that thats something that most children can understand and that these conversations need to happen immediately. I mean when i was growing up conversations about race were happening in our everyday lives just because you know i come from a multiracial family and vice versa conversations about race for not happening in my life because i grew up in a predominantly white neighborhood white law and you know its something the 19 to later in life and it should be starting from the get go and i think thats we dont have the answer were learning every day and its constant work and. You know we want to make sure that when we do have a from day one is issues are brought up and then talked about and its just its open and comfortable to be able to talk about you know racism and systemic
Police Brutality and you know just these issues that we live with and we dont talk about so. You know and those are new conversations for us to you know a lot has been brought to the surface this we need in this moment of happiness probably just as much as maybe other people needed it. Just been overwhelmed with support all right well like the ring to the face there one more thank you so much for joining us today and in a moment of strife that were seeing right now you guys are the embodiment. Of the love the compassion the app to see the unity that we need to see more of thank you so much for sharing your story with us this morning. Alright congrats. 9. 33 and well be back with more. Lets take a peek at the 7 day around the bay for carrolls monday. It is and for the week ahead, the good news is although it will warm up by midweek it wont be near as hot as weve seen. For the past couple weeks were pushing 100 degree temperatures. Some 90s better, not yeah absolutely and then it will cool down gradually as we head towards the weekend once again so actually really pleasant looking forecast for the week ahead keep that in mind it great news for firefighters because the temperatures as hot as theyve been with the fires burning in the north they could surely use a day where temperatures dont get up into the triple digits all and if the wind dies down after today that nice has been kind of calm and keep it to the kron 4 a course download the kron 4 mobile app well keep you updated throughout the day with push alert. We hope you enjoy the rest of your sunday and well see you back here tomorrow morning starting at 04 00am.
