Welcome though wind is still picking up a little bit here today, the wind played a huge role and how this fire behaved and where it moved today earlier it started out as 2 smaller fires, but ultimately merge into one as the winds picked up now thankfully though the one good thing about the wind is that it pushed the fire away from homes, nearby and instead pushed the fire into the wilderness area you see here behind me. Now you can see that that areas no longer smoking like it was just hours ago. If you take a look at this video from earlier in the day Contra Costa County fire says the fire began around one 20 this afternoon, heavy smoke and flames filled the sky next to highway 80 in cummings the skyway the fire burned a total of 230 acres and one point firefighters closed coming skyway they also close a part of california street north hercules where there are unsure which way the flames would go everything is now reopened but neighbors say they were concerned when this fire first broke out this crime the scene from earlier today.
