The California Attorney general Javier Becerra says that the state is suing the department of education and its leader betsy the boss for the 10th time. Now this time state officials claim the department is trying to overturn student borrower protections. The obama era borrower defense rule provided a pathway to debt relief to students who enrolled or took out loans because of false claims made by a college or lender the sarah says that theres not a meaningful process under the u. S. Department of educations new regulations and that only about 4 of students actually get financial relief. They rigged the system. Again students. But simple. A 7 yearold girl named jacqueline and 8 yearold boy named Mississippi Democratic congressman Bennie Thompson read the names of the 5 children who died in Border Patrol custody since 2018 theres something seriously wrong with this pitching doctor Roger Mitchell junior is chief medical examiner in washington dc. Coming up next on the kron 4 morning news, it could be the end of caltrain as we know it why members of San Franciscos board of supervisors decided not to offer a muchneeded lifeline to the transit system. And coming up after the break the house of representatives may delay or skip its august recess that so that it can work on another stimulus package to help boost the u. S. Economy well have more on that coming up after the break. How about a trip outside held off wannacry there you go a live look at traffic moving on 6 ad a little busy right a lot of folks heading to and from walnut creek this morning. But no reports of any problems out there on welcome back grim predictions are being made about the future of caltrain after a sales tax measure that could have generated a 100 Million Dollars a year. Was blocked by members of the San Francisco board of supervisors Charles Stone who is on the peninsula quarter joint powers board which oversees the rail line explains that prepandemic the realign carried about 60,000 riders a day between San Francisco and san jose and without this tax measure caltrain may not survive. It could be the end of caltrain as we know it were facing a fiscal kids cliff in october. This is the lifeline of transit for the peninsula in silicon valley. I just cant fathom why the San Francisco board of supervisors wouldnt at least have taken action to give the voters a chance to weigh in and see if they wanted to help us save caltrain. They are working on a special tax for next years ballot. But some caltrain Board Members fear that it will be just too late to save the rail line from financial ruin. The states can the states can fill in the gap maryland, republican andy harris says if there is another stimulus package republicans will push to reduce the amount americans receiving unemployment bonuses, not allowing anyone to collect more than a 100 of what they what they turn in addition to reducing those benefits republicans say any deal must include Liability Protections for Small Businesses those are 2 key provisions, arkansas republican steve womack says congress should start negotiations over and leave the heroes act behind not a not a good negotiating.
