Mountain and this is what has been vacaville and it was bring to the northwest and so its closing in pretty quickly. Thats why people are quickly having to flee their homes covers will tran is there this morning and will we moved to vacaville because things change so fast. Whats going on right now. Well right now im off a highway 80 off a cheery glenn exit and you can see over my Left Shoulder jeans and yuri of the fire along the ridgeline these people these poor people have been up all night watching the fire get closer and closer to their homes and then. Just a short time ago they got the knock at the door from the Sheriffs Department take get out. This is obviously a very busy street as far as people hopping on to highway 80 instead it has turned into a parking lot with a lot of evacuees at this location just pulled over sitting in the back of the pickup truck. Just helplessly watching the fire get closer and closer to their homes. This whole area jeans and area. It is just glowing with an orange haze and a numbers of flying everywhere, lets talk to these people. Im sorry to me under the circumstances can you tell us. What happened in the progression of the fire. Yeah, i mean it kind of started out it was pretty bad but nowhere near here and then as a start to come down. We start paying attention to more more than the sheriffs game told us as close. And all of a sudden overnight realize really have close it was and that this is something ive never really seen before so. Definitely new to me you know from the east use of hurricanes and stuff which i get a little bit of a warning. So when you get that not whats going through your mind is it like get out sometimes you might even forget your items or did you have items ready to go. I just got to grab some clothes, real quick a gradual clothes food for the dog and just a little important stuff and that was it Everything Else is in place rules and so i look at it how close was the fire when you left your house is. And we still i mean i was price 3 close like to have 3 hours ago so we saw time is still not our house yet so. So much and i can hear doors, opening and closing james and area you can see more people showing up here will walk down the line. A lot of them right there a pickup trucks theyve had their motorcycles in the back to dirt bikes, whatever they think thats important to them you can see them looking like that just woke up and ran off a door theres a dog in there, right there in Station Wagon as well so obviously thats a Family Member you can see headlights off in the distance and same story a look at the ridge line, well look at how orange. It is right now and that is nothing compared to the ridge line to the right of us you can see is going up that hill. Drivers on highway 80 or going right by it and i saw this from a few miles away. And it is just burning very steadily embers were flying everywhere. Vacaville Fire Department they have been busy as well they said right now the fire has entered. Gibson canyon all of solar hills and gibson canyon road are under evacuation. Evacuations are in effect in english hills. Evacuations we are in place at Pleasant Valley road because the fire has jumped there. And keep in mind this fire actually started off in napa which is about a 35 minute drive from this location and youre right james i rushed over here. It jumped the ridgeline the hills and unfortunately whats happened in napa county is now very much. The problem of vacaville residents, the next time you see me we will move even closer. So the fire i know there are certain neighborhoods, the homes are literally. Going up in flames at this time and by the way breathing is extremely difficult this reminds me your early. And the santa rosa fires as far as the smell. The desperation that we saw just a couple years ago back to you and is it is its sad and its will when its Something Like that word such a. Populated area, you know its not way out in the hills and the mountains and. We start seeing an ally today to this morning, some of the damage. Thats just going to be devastating to watch well check back in with you. From a Sonoma County to nearby napa county now the hennessy fire continues to burn a this morning near lake i should say from nearby Solano County to napa county. This is video from overnight of the fire it so as i mentioned all part of the l a new lightning complex fire which consists of fires burning in napa sonoma and solano counties this fire has burned more than 10,000 acres. 3 structures destroyed that we know if confirmed, but as daryn mentioned once the sun comes up were going to be able to see what the damage is in vacaville and that number certainly well go up Officials Say the underbrush in some of the more mountainous areas really making it difficult for firefighters to get ahead of the flames and were also keeping an eye on the gamble fire to thats one burning a little further to the north on the north edge of Lake Berryessa 10,000 acres has burned as well that fire again all part of the l a new complex. The fires that make up that complex have burned more than 32,000 acres. So far and at last update from cal fire containment is still at 0 and heres a map showing you that l a new complex part, the red outline is the perimeter of the fire as it was last plotted by cal fire late last night. And you can see how it wraps around the western edge of Lake Berryessa and then to the south there you see the fire line beginning to advance on to western portions of vacaville and thats going to be a big worry as the day progresses how much more vacaville wilburn are we going to see a similar situation like will mentioned in sonoma and santa rosa. A couple years back with coffee park. When once it caught fire in a developed a community of just began to race through the area. So thats going to be a big concern well be tracking that part of the story for you as we continue to follow the latest there now, lets jump over to nearby Sonoma County and theres a here showing you a couple of fires that are burning there. The 13 for fire which is burning west of healdsburg and then another fire burning north of jenner for more on the fires there in Sonoma County want to go live now to kron 4 Sarah Stinson shes standing by with the latest update sarah. James many people who live in Sonoma County specifically west of healdsburg west of windsor have been evacuated its a mandatory evacuation and to put into perspective because ive been really trying to figure out where exactly the flames are active because you can see it on the one o one take a look at for now at this video its a pg knee camera so you can get a closer look at home of those flames and smoke, but you can see it when youre driving northbound one oh one in windsor and healdsburg but you have to drive 15 minutes west to actually be at the fire apparently its gone through several communities up here north of windsor north of river road and geyserville and its been traveling south is what ive been told by sheriffs deputies there here behind informing people directing people because as i said people have been evacuated. Were talking about 2 fires burning in Sonoma County one. The 13 for fire, this is the name that cal fire has given. This fire burning in Sonoma County the 13 fire burning west of healdsburg is currently 500 acres and is 0 contained and that could spike thats just at last check and 1116 fire north of jenner that fires currently 25 acres and 0 containment has been burning overnight fire crews are working hard to contain it. But it is moving it is raging and that is why emergency evacuation orders have been put into place several schools have canceled Distance Learning today because obviously the more important thing is that people evacuate and be safe were going to be live this morning. Im actually going to have a full hour to drive to the flames hopefully get closer i want to show you where its burning because it is a very remote area and i want to just show you so you can be aware of whats happening out here, but in the meantime if you got that alert on your phone get a grab bag get that go bag and head out immediately for now im live in windsor Sarah Stinson back to you all right, thank you sir and while youre in transit, ill tell you we just got word were going to able to interview Sergeant Juan de lancy with Sonoma CountySheriffs Department is 6. 15. So well really any new information to you sir and also to you at home as well. Now lets stay in the north bay where firefighters are working to contain a fire in marine county. And we want to take a look at the what they tweeted out this chopper video. The smoke billowing over the hills. Down below you can see at that Point Reyes National seashore. And its adjacent to the woodward trail. No structures are threatened here though, and there are no evacuation orders because of that. This is just chewing through open land 15 acres. So far burned up in that one very smoky. You cant see what is below. But thats thats all the smoke that is out walking through the bay area this morning into San Francisco and throughout the north bay. Flames are forcing people to evacuate their homes, however, and sam, a tail. And santa cruz counties and thats from the seas eu lightning complex fires. They are burning in the mountains. Santa cruz and San Mateo County. 0 containment on these fires. They have chewed up 7500 acres there. They started sunday morning from lightning strikes as well to First Responders have been hurt battling the flames and about 1200 homes are threatened. By these fires. Now in the east bay 4 separate fires make up the deer zone fires. These are the fires that are spreading through east contra costa county. 0 containment there as well also sparked by lightning and there are mandatory evacuations in effect there about a 150 homes on the northeastern side of mount diablo had to evacuate. You can see the terrain there is rugged so thats making it tough for the firefighters as well as of course the heat which is a problem but luckily, no injuries from these fires and no structures burned. The biggest ssris just structures right now the most immediate thing thats going on that will continue to follow is in vacaville right down really afraid to see whats going to happen once the sun comes up and i think were looking at another hot day, i know its backing off job, but the heat wave isnt over yet definitely not over just yet daria and now its hot and hazy in addition to that this was San Francisco last night look at the smoke plume over napa that rose over the bay area. Due to High Pressure that smoke a settled back into the bay now and due to wildfires burning in all directions, poor air quality can be expected all across the bay area today. So if youre sensitive to that smoke another reason to take it easy and stay inside as much as possible winds are pushing through the west of the car keen as in the. Deer creek complex fire. You are seeing some pretty steady winds and brentwood in oakley just to the east of that blaze. Of course fires burning in napa and solano counties accompanied by some strong winds from the northwest. Thats why we are seeing this fire growing rapidly in the direction of vacaville atlas winds out of the north northwest right now calmer in the vicinity of the fire burning around the Santa Cruz Mountains. Thats good news for those battling that blaze in the south bay. Right now temperatures anywhere from the 60s 70s to even the 80s in pittsburgh to kick off this morning. Pretty warm start to what will be a another hot day just around the corner by no means are we done with the hia we still do have triple digits in the forecast for inland areas and ive got more about that. Still ahead james all right, thank you very much john as we head to break, heres another look at one of the camera showing us. Especially the ones that are burning up in the north bay because we have the fire. Ellen you lightning complex fire beginning to burn now towards vacaville weve heard about. Evacuations this morning on the phone with us is Sergeant Juan de lancy with the Sonoma CountySheriffs Office to give us a little more perspective on exactly what is happening up their search of a lot to thank you for joining us. Sergeant can you hear us all right. All right looks like we may be trying to dial him in in the meantime while we try and correct that audio issue well show you some of the pictures that have been coming to us from that part of the bay area and boy you can see the smoke coming up. And the shots that were captured yesterday evening. Were certainly smelling that all around the bay this morning. And weve also been looking at various maps to that show a sort of the perimeter of the l a new of fire. It has been large and growing larger by the minute. Heres what were talking about it started as basically to general fires the hennessy fire on the western edge of Lake Berryessa and then the sun and then the gamble fire towards the north. They both combined and it looks like theyve been growing theyre wrapping around the lake now and beginning to burn to the south and to the east in the direction of vacaville and as we zoom in closer in on that portion of the map you remember you saying wait a minute how could this fire be reactive ill and will tran talked about its 35 minutes away to drive. You know from here to there yet the flames have made their way. That far down they have home to home or catching fire and were actually seeing it in the dark yes in live you know shots of it weve been monitoring in a frayed. Whats going to happen at first light we get a look at the damage. Yeah we have communications now connection was Sergeant Juan valencia can hear us. Yet to come here, you can own all right so tell us so what youre seeing as far as destruction. So right now we have the fire when it hacked a pretty active right now in a heavily vegetated area a lot of timber. That as of last night there was at over 500 acres 0 and the problem is fire personnel cannot get into the year where the fire is actively actively burning on the floor, our only option is to do mandatory evacuations of that area so one fire personnel well and can or cannot fire im not be able to do without. Taken the time to evacuate people so one people leave the area makes it that much easier and safer for fire personnel to do their job wheelie im im confused or youre saying that there are homes. That are in harms way youre telling people to get out and you cant get in and put the fire out so those homes are just going to be gone. Ah well that the area right now were burning theres not a lot Residential Properties of there i guess you could take have been like so what we are doing we are sending emergency to the next hole we are so color and then we also have deputies out and allied agencies out there knocking on doors and using the high low sarin and notifying people that happy that i know youre saying you know its not like residential cabins. Now with coronavirus we see a lot of people you know do that go to their cabins go to their you know other properties and hunker down for the past several i i dont know if you have any accounts of how many people are out there. So you so far weve estimated that weve evacuated anywhere between 25 to 30,000 people. In those areas that are under mandatory obviously the number micro and it all depends on the weather and how the fire is going to be 8. With 25 to 30,000 people on the move and going where i know there theres always shelter set up at now again with coronavirus things are different. Yeah, its very different and thats one thing that are taken into consideration. The county has started to open up are going to start opening up some shelters. And thats the other thing is social distancing on the coronavirus but we want to remind people that if they are an area under a mandatory evacuation northeast feel unsafe that its better to and then we can worry about that social distancing part later if we want to make sure you and we save lives thats the most important well, of course absolutely and theyre going to go you know wherever they can if they have stay with friends or relatives or like you said. In an Evacuation Center even if its going to be crowded. We were talking too about people taking cover from all the smoke that were looking at there. That swapping everywhere in the bay area and the difference between the coronavirus mask that you need and the mask to protect yourself from the smoke. Yes, totally different i you know i think if he still were Face Covering thats going to protect from the coronavirus smokes. So yeah that older son very their consideration to take it. You know you can be more impacted by the smoke or the part of possibility be infected with covid. And now this morning we heard that
