San Francisco fortyniners is put on the reserve list and that this 29 right now and we are looking at another foggy start to the day and smoky and and weve also got traffic beginning to build as more and more people head to work weve got robin with that in half a second job, well start with you and lets talk about that smoke and fog, yeah, fog and smoke. Obviously the 2 biggest things weve got to talk about today this morning fog across the bay area sitting right above us for the most part. Its going to be temporary eventually we do get some sunshine and were already seeing foggy conditions lifting across the bay so improving already for a lot of areas. Unfortunately i wish i could say the same about the smoke has not improved for most areas, especially noticeable nevado which yet again this morning for a second morning in a row is in our worst category as far as smoke as same for you right along the coastline in southern san mateo county. Nearby wildfires burning in the santa cruz mountains. So what you have to anticipate today as you step outside is areas where it will be better and like you are looking at
San Francisco in mill valley, currently then those pockets up or air which will be moving around throughout the course of your day as far as temperatures go right now were in the 50s and 60s a cool start to the day a lot like yesterday was at this point. Dublin and livermore each at 58 oakland and hayward just 61 degrees right now. Later on today, some improvements in weather as temperatures are little bit cooler that means comfortable 70s in areas like
Oakland Hayward
Fremont Redwood city and delay help thats your forecast. Rob and weve got more traffic on the roads, whats it like right now we do indeed by the minute its definitely picking up around the bay area, the picking up does not mean we have a bad commute it just means that more folks are out there so were heading over to the golden gate, this is a live look. At one oh one and on the left you have south 1, one heading into
San Francisco, more cars right but still no big problems 19 minutes novato to the toll plaza, heres your backup. Its our busiest bridge right now the bay bridge 80 west in
San Francisco. This long lines feels through the bottom of the maze but under 15 minutes to make it in and i really quick peak, its more drive times its still at the limit on 8024 5. 80 and the minutes with no problems heading down to the oakland maze chase. All right. Thank you very much robin. Well, the
United States has hit another unfortunate milestone in the coronavirus pandemic with more than 6 million now confirmed cases and here in the bay area across the state the numbers are going down actually kron fours
Jonathan Mccall takes a look. The
United States continues to lead the world in the number of coronavirus cases. Monday the country now topping the 6 million mark in california in the bay area, a recent rapid rise in cases from just a few weeks ago appears to be slowing to a brisk crawl. I say were down about 20 from the peak of second wave of infection. Its all looking good. And you know we need to keep on doing what were doing in just the last 24 hours california saw just under 4200 new cases. In the last 2 weeks the state has been averaging around 5,000 new cases a day. Its a big difference from just 14 days ago when the average was around 10,000. Deaths also appear to be stabilizing at around 120 to 130 on average for the past 2 weeks. Doctor
George Rutherford with ucsf says the trend is also being seen here in the bay area. The number of cases in the 9 counties have dropped by more than 20 in each. He says while the news is good were still not in the clear just yet obvious transmission still going on. But its coming since becoming less so and you know the trick now is to avoid. The problems that that been going on in much of the country was college is coming back into session and high schools and middle schools coming back into session. You know thats thats going to be the trick to wait a certain way refer know crediting a committed effort from people masking up in social distancing. As a reason for the lower numbers. Its really as simple as that if you just wear masks. And if youre fear or around the crowds, you know give yourself a little space yourself 6 feet and youre going to find you know its if they and if you have a mask on even if you do get infected, its probably going to be less severe. Well that was
Jonathan Mccall reporting for us this morning. Doctors are urging everyone to get the flu vaccine. This year they say if you people get the flu. It would lessen the strain on hospitals. Theyre also monitoring the latest local numbers as well weve got statewide now more than 712,000 confirmed cases to date with more than 13,000 people dying from it and across the bay area more than 83,000 reported cases now of coronavirus with more than 1100 deaths and the fortyniners have taken a hit because of covid a star linebacker is on the teams covid19 list, yeah, this blow comes less than 2 weeks before the niners kick off the season at home. Kron fours will tran live for us at levi stadium with details on what we know so far will. The thing is we dont know anything just yet because fred warner still has to do the test for covid19 so technically this morning he does not have covid19 if he does not have the guys he can return to training camp. But if he does have it theres a good chance he will not play when the fortyniners take on the
Arizona Cardinals right behind me let me show you a picture fred warner. One of the stars on the defensive end possibly be star and they have a whole bunch of them but hes had a wonderful training camp, there is a chance that he was exposed to somebody with coronavirus so they have to do the test if hes negative he can come back to work asap if he shows symptoms of covid19 and the results come back positive that means that he will not be able to return to the team for 10 days. Possibly even more than that this is a major blow for the
San Francisco fortyniners because they hope to get back to the super bowl and win it all this year, especially since he is considered one of the top 100 players in the nfl, so they told him to go home. Stay tuned, take the test and wait for the results to come back in the meantime the fortyniners they still have to train every day. We got a chance to track down. Kyle shanahan coach shanahan, heres what he had to say about living in whole new world. A good reminder that. No ones out of the woods and when you go go a few weeks with
Nothing Happened and if you start to feel pretty safe and. A reminder that starts to move out there so. Well see how it goes im not going get into because i cant but you guys know the rules with this was a couple options with the test to come back in. I will see how that goes he said. So the 49 ers did not say why they even suspect that fred warner might have been exposed to somebody with coronavirus the bottom line is tests need to be done on him. Coach shanahan believes no matter what that fred warner is somewhere working out this morning. So hopefully he stays in shape and so the results come back in daria you know this all too well the nda nobody came down with covid19 because they practice and they play in a bubble. The fortyniners the nfl. The
Major League Baseball players. They are not in a bubble which is why they do expect as the season to go on that players could be exposed to covid19 or in some cases flatout have covid19. Thats the thing so you got to catch it. Early talk about weight and then so thats the idea will this is exactly what theyre doing in baseball and thats why the as. More games have been postponed for them absolutely and not till thursday will they be allowed back on the at this all if youve been following comes after one of the traveling party tested positive for covid this past weekend while they were in houston. So as a result, the cant go anywhere they have to hunker down they were slated to go to seattle this week for a 3 game series with the mariners but thats on hold. Theyll remain in houston. Following the mlb testing protocols and when theyre given the allclear would gain no sooner than thursday. Then they can continue with her schedule salons and barbershops around the bay get to cut indoors and do
Indoor Services for the first time. Since the pandemic started because the state is the guidelines. So in the east bay. You can get your hair cut inside from this salon in san ramon, one of many that are opening salon marcel and opening with big changes you can see the clear plastic curtains throughout
Hand Sanitizer and spraying down all of the surfaces stylists are just happy to be back hoping that they they can stay in service. Tell me they feel. Safer here than they do in a lot of place, especially like a
Grocery Store other doing everything properly here and and as long as i wear my mask in. Keep my distance and i feel pretty good about it. You cant just walk in the salon or sell either you need as many as psi lists will require reservations. So they can keep a handle on the business they want to keep things safe. So that things dont spike again and cause another closure. And later this morning the salons and shops in
San Francisco will be rallying because theyd like to open to. But they cant yet so theyre holding a demonstration in front of
San Francisco city hall this morning starting at 10 00am and if you do want to show up to demonstrate you will be required to wear a mask. Well in the south bay hair salons and barbershops in
Santa Clara County welcome customers after being closed for almost 6 months. Yesterday was the first day at work for stylist sid hare handlers salon in san jose and despite the reopening stylus say theyre still of course a long way to go. Its going to take a lot of time for us to coax our clients back to the salon and let them know that they are going to be okay what business can sustain be not 6 months. You know almost a happier, i dont know any business that can do that if you go down the street you see a lot of businesses close. The scaled back
Health Orders also mean that indoor retail is back in santa clara as well with some restrictions of course for like oak ridge and valley for malls. Theyll open their in their indoor retail centers, but at 25 capacity with the game of course of giving you plenty of space inside to socially distance. Not all businesses in the bay area are going to be able to bounce back according to the latest study by the chamber of commerce. More than half of

This legal in leaf location at crocker galleria is where the store first opened 21 years ago. Its one of 7 financial district locations right now were doing about 20 of the business that we were doing prior to the pandemic and thats at this one location. The other locations are closed and. You know theres just not a lot of people here right now most of the businesses inside the crocker galleria are closed as the mall continues to operate with reduced hours common theme across the neighborhood according to the citys chamber of commerce 84 of all store fronts downtown are closed. Many will reopen here at the copper gallery and throughout the financial district. It seems like the vast majority of businesses arent even open. Theyre just waiting or maybe they did shut down permanently we dont know. Most people are going to want to hang on much longer the chamber of commerce says restaurant sales across the city were down by as much as 84 in july 2020. Compared to the previous year. And the numbers are even more than 4 businesses like bars nightclubs and entertainment facilities will business ever be the same in the financial district thats really up to our leaders and im counting on our leaders to recognize that for the vibrancy of
San Francisco. They need to figure out how to get people back into the financial district right now more than 1300 store fronts across the city are closed according to the chamber of commerce. Were expecting that number to get worse the longer in this pandemic in

And today we are going to see temperatures just a little cooler than yesterdays were san jose in the low 80s cooler than yesterdays mid 80s. Oaklands down to 70 degrees. Unfortunately a little hazy too. Your forecast is ahead. And were checking in on your morning commute a little busy here on 9 to 2 heading across the san mateo bridge is crowded between the toll plaza and the high rise, but no big problems he so youre a small business, or a big one. You were thriving, but then. Oh. Ah. Okay. Plan, pivot. How do you bounce back . You dont, you bounce forward, with serious and reliable internet. Powered by the largest gig

Bounce forward, with comcast business. Welcome back it is 6. 45 and we want to get a look at the weather and see how bad the fog is out there now. Yeah john good morning, good morning guys we are mostly hazy conditions towards mount diablo fog is starting to lift so now its just resulting in gray across the bay area. So youre not driving through it as much as you are just driving under it hayes is whats going to remain through this forecast unfortunately i wish i could talk about improving conditions but thats just not something that we really got shaping up in the big picture with this highpressure ridge sitting above head and only building across the bay in the coming days. That means sinking and stagnant air 2 factors that are going to keep hayes locked right in here in the bay area we will have another push of onshore marine cooled air into tomorrow morning. So help us out for a few areas but as we have been seeing the past couple of days with pockets of poor areas in areas like novato and down along the south coast of the day we are going to be seeing areas where even that marine air isnt going to be sparing us the worst of the air quality pockets today of good air pockets of bad well have the same tomorrow and through the remainder of the week and then generally into the weekend as the
High Pressure builds air quality is going to get really bad as stagnant air prevails todays daytime highs some of our most comfortable little cooler than yesterday. So id say check those air maps and if its good in your area enjoying a little bit 50s and 60s out towards the coast in

Some of our cooler conditions out towards the coast. Nevado has been hazy yesterday into this morning and well continue to be with a daytime high of 82 today. Tomorrow and thursday really not a whole lot changing for us well keep the haze around well keep the low 90s inland in the low 70s by the bay friday will definitely be your coolest one of this forecast with daytime highs falling into the 80s for inland areas. Saturday sunday and monday you really start to notice that
High Pressure building in temperatures climb and we will be seeing the potential of an offshore wind come labor day on monday that could result in some very dry winds and some hotter conditions near the coastline. Thats your forecast robin is with us take a look at traffic, hows it going on the roads its pretty slow john especially heading into
San Francisco, 80 west the bay bridge. Its still our busiest bridge right now and its not thinning out just yet the back of that re seeing here at the bay bridge toll plaza continues to spill through the bottom of the maze right at the bottom so that means the 5. 80 west connector that brings into
San Francisco that connector stacked up and its going to be like this sell off and on all the way up toward
Treasure Island but still no problems no trouble spots red under 15 minutes into
San Francisco. Were checking in on the
